What to say... what to say....

First, I was never in the first Knight's Soul (so you can remove me from noteable players on the first listing)... I actually came in on the merge between ChaosBlades & Knight'sSoul from the ChaosBlades side which was lead by a player by name of Underwatersquid (drk).

My LS/FFXI history starts out with an LS by name of "KnightsOfTheWatch" back in late 2003 which was lead by Yslar (RL friend & co worker to Menech). This LS consisted of just a few folks and we were largely social with most the entire NA player base being less than LV50 at this point. Yslar (pld), Odeo(rdm) & his Brother Thathu(variety/undecided), myself(rdm only at the time), a pld by name of Zorax, a pld by name of Varkias (The RL friend of mine that got me started on this game), Mong (Odeo's RL Friend) & Menech, assuming he wasn't in CalinFuz or doing other things with other shells at the time, were the only folks I can remember.

Yslar hit Lv 55'ish pld pretty fast compared to most the rest of us in this shell and spent a lot of time helping others get random things done. I was in the military and had several week to 2week periods where I simply couldn't play. I think Menech ended up finding himself a bit bored in KOTW and started to hang out a lot more with Bubu and Yuniee (note two 'e's in this name; Male Player/Female Character) in CalinFuz. With Menech's friendship with some CalinFuz folks I remember Yuniee helping me with GK1 item Papyrus and in turn I remember helping Bubu get some piece of BLM AF from a GC Coffer. I kind of thought of CalinFuz(Yuniee's LS) and KOTW (Yslar's LS) as something of a mini alliance in the sense that we were friendly to each other.

I got up and past LV55 in KnightsOfTheWatch by the time Yslar had decided to call it quits... Varkias, the guy that got me interested in this game had already quit before that.

Here's a pic of myself doing GK2. Everyone in this pic except Hobbes (at time of pic LV65'ish) needed it. Though Yslar is not seen in this pic, he was there during this event. I have other pics from this event that Yslar is included in, but I don't have intentions to upload all pics to tell the whole story. I remember there being some debate as to who between Cisum, Yslar, and Troisana would tank GK2 this night.

After some time, Yslar quit the game entirely and KOTW died. Most of us, if not all of us, joined/merged to Yuniee's LS since Menech already had an established relationship with folks from CalinFuz.

I don't remember doing anything necessarily worth mentioning in CalinFuz during my stay there. Mostly tackled events/missions and the likes. Members included but not limited to: Yuniee, Bubu, Jermomo, Shirotori, Menech, Chaosofeternity, Tititoto, Shuwei, Attanja, Odeo, Torzak, Thathu, Yunah, and I think Maethros though he may have come in later after the ls change... not sure...

After some time CalinFuz as I remember it, though I could be wrong, had an issue with one player specifically. Yuniee created a new LS called SkyBlueSeaBlue and invited all members of CalinFuz but that one person. Again, that's how I remembered/percieved this event of LS changing and I very well may not have been very well filled in on the details.

It was fun times in SkyBlueSeaBlue but Work & or School was getting the better half of Yuniee's time. Yuniee was often no where to be found. I remember the same folks above mentioned for CalinFuz along with other folks joining over time including Independent(JP player with good sense of humor as I remembered it), Drago, Royboy, Saiyen, Ladyaphrodite, Fatboy, Sasavi, Ujean(might have been in CalinFuz but I dont' remember him being there), Thunderwolf, Virii(short time), and probably others being in this shell.

It got to a point where it was very quiet in SkyBlueSeaBlue with Yuniee's absence and I found myself joining other LS's in a seeming spiral of never ending ls swaps for a while after this point.

I ended up joining a shell by name of Requiem which was lead by Cisum. I think I remember Teutrabe being in this shell as well and Missileslacker too. This shell lasted about 3 or 4 levels of rdm leveling before Cisum quit. This shell was remade and I was given a new pearl to the new Requiem but this was several weeks after the first had disbanded, Cisum came back for a short while, and I had already joined another LS. I didn't visit this new Requiem often or really even at all except directly after being given the new pearl to do a slow death by poison in Lower Jueno which was kind of fun.

I joined up with CelestialDragons lead by Deltayn and Antikitty and this was more social than anything for me. I was often between both CelestialDragons and SkyBlueSeaBlue depending on how many people were on in SBSB.

I ended up having to deploy in late May 2004 and I had made it a goal to have full RDM AF before deploying. It was hard with two 3 week ship ops and other field ops along the way, but I obtained that goal May 24th (RDM AF Fight)/May 25th (picked up Hat) of 2004, where I stopped playing for several months due to deployment.

After a few months of being in Iraq I had been placed on a guard detail of a sort in an Iraqi ran Internet Cafe that was within our camp walls. This was something like a 6 hour shift every day or some such... and after a while of being bored, I newegged some discs of FFXI out there and started to play on my shift.

I often ran around LS'less during this time even though I had a sack to SkyBlueSeaBlue, mostly due to the time difference.

I ended up being invited to ChaosBlades during this time and we made our attempts to tackle the likes of simurgh or serket though I wasn't in the shell long before it was merged with Knight'sSoul and the merged name became SacredSoul. ChaosBlades included folks such as, but not limited to: Underwatersquid (Shell Holder), Malfice, Fatebringer, Plater, Raziel, Gophish, Knightdragon, Nightcrawlerx, Xynx, Etege, Maguss, Titto, Dafiy, Eathen, Alexand, Blokey, myself, and others I can't remember and/or aren't in my screen shots.

I don't think everyone from ChaosBlades went to this new merged ls of SacredSoul.

SacredSoul included folks such as, but not limited to: Linkhighlander, Theanomoly, Sageofhalo, Nightcrawlerx, Bladewolf, Skulls, Knightdragon, Darkmystic, Lefian, Aristotali, Firemaster, Saiyajinn, Battossai, Dajodayoda, Galkaben, Shavot, Gooch, Aadrenry, Hwarang, Aladwar, Qosai, Feiblaze, Renoturk, Kitfox, Macc, Yunnie (note: two 'n's), Yunah, Stonar, myself... and prolly more... We got a lot done as an LS and I started to tank a lot of stuff as rdm/war in this ls starting with Simurgh, ZM8, and other small things.

Blah Blah and SacredSoul lost it's edge, folks got lazy, things slowed down, whatever...

Stonar recreated Knight'sSoul LS (previously Shell Holder of this name was Linkhighlander before the Chaos/Knight's Merge)... Stonar was the shell holder of this second name. More stuff got accomplished, there were fun times, and I was able to put to test rdm/war against both Genbu and Suzaku successfully which was more or less the last big breath I breathed into rdm/war tanking.

I later left Knight'sSoul and joined Kalm which at the time included folks like Wingchild (Shell Holder), Mandalorian, Alexeia, Mellema, Moliana, Esker, Deruka, Kobain, Folken, Zwitter, Iaia, Merkury, Feur, Prevail, Aladwar (came a bit later), Vygun (came a bit later), Ladyaphrodite(came a bit later), Triplesec(came a bit later), and probably others. We did a lot of stuff like O Hat runs, fairly casual god runs, etc

A side LS of Kalm was created after a while called Iunnrais (Shell Holder was Mandalorian?). This would be the LS that Kalm would end up doing large events in. Doing this allowed for a few other folks to tag along for the events without actually being a part of Kalm. I believe this was done in part due to some conflicts between some folks.. and instead of them leaving Kalm all together this allowed them to participate in the events that Kalm did.

I deployed again... and while deployed Mandalorian & Vygun left to join FM at some point

Karlth remade the Iunnrais shell and it ultimately became it's own independant shell from Kalm instead of Kalm's event shell.

I came back from deployment and the new Knight'sSoul shell had pretty much disbanded with Stonar I guess shortly after I left.

I Still had my Kalm pearl but it was different to me with so many folks I knew from Kalm having pretty much permanently moved to Iunnrais.

Also, at this point I had intentions to start my own LS with some folks from the military that mentioned interest in the game. KoolAidBrigade was started between myself and these other folks I met from the military along with Odeo (Known him since KnightsOfTheWatch days) and his brother (thathu) and my own RL brother for a short time (Annihilus). Often the question was asked if we were a redo of a previous ls named KoolAid on this server and we were not.

The name KAB came from a boot camp story I used to tell all the time for laughs and in that story the Drill Instructor made it abundantly clear he liked red KoolAid and so the red colored shell KoolAidBrigade started independant of any previously named KoolAid-type shells. Later I found out there was a pretty large ls on another server by name of KoolAid and it was a bit unsettling /shrug. At this stage KAB was small time and largely only social.

Not too long after creating my own shell, I had been asked to help on a Cerberus run from Iunnrais and it was kind of wierd and fun being swapped into the mix of a bunch of blue pearls as the sole red dot out there.

I later reapp'd on IU forums and was repearled with a fair quickness being that I had previously already been a member to the shell before Karlth had to recreate the shell upon Mandalorian's leave to FM.

After some of the guys from my own shell were getting the hang of the game and a relatively small set of actions that aggrivated me about Iunnrais, I decided to full time with KAB and dropped both Kalm and Iunnrais shells all together. Kalm was dropped more in a sense of inventory space... and IU (Iunnrais), even though I'm still good in-game friends with a lot of those folks, just had to be dropped in my opinion for the sake of trust I guess. I didn't want to one day be running an LS that offered and did a lot of what IU was doing or wanted to do if I still had a pearl to IU and could read out their lsmes or what not. I just didn't want there to ever be any way for blame to come my way in the future if their ToD's or the likes were to one day be leaked... so like I say, I just dropped the shell.

I still did Nyzul Assaults with 5 IU members as a static and KAB grew into a very casual end game shell. We tackled ZMs all over again for folks, I watched folks use us for a seeming quick fix to sky and then left us... I slowly started to grow tired of ZMs but I kept at it. Eventually we were in sky and managed a Genbu pop with minimal people and then later tackled a straight up Genbu with 14 folks with one of those people being the much thanked help from Moomba. Most other accomplishemts were relatively small time stuff like a Joy or our own KSNM runs and the likes. We wanted to grow into something more, but we just couldn't manage the man power to actually take things further. A lot of folks played minimally, were in the middle of RL moving, vacations, etc etc.

KAB members included: Torzak (Shell Holder), Wireman, Lokian, Applejacks, Odeo, Thathu, Yuniee, Bubu, Shirotori, Jermomo, Annihilus, Stina, Ryukyo, Valkyre, Omen, Roninwarrior, Royalguardian, Darkassassin, Greatmagician, Etoh, Hellhammer(previously known as Battossai), Flix, Weebles, Cyfirus, Blackchild, and other folks who came in and left in days or got zms and left, or what not and probably even other folks who's stay was short with us for other reasons.

Our attempts to grow as an LS ultimately lead KoolAidBrigade to something of a merge. Ronin, Royal, Dark, and Great know Akirra RL and Akirra threw the idea my way of starting up an LS with some folks he knew would likely join along with the members of KAB.

AireTamStorm was the product of this merge-type deal. Mericam (Shell Holder), all the above listed KAB folks, and others including Akirra, Ddevil, Jenteal, Tremblingbloom, Urzeal, Tonina, Astydamia, Lucienna and more further whose stability within the LS I'm currently uncertain. ATS has been together for something just over a month and we've tackled 3 Byakkos, quite a number of genbus and a few Seiryu/Suzaku with a 3 or 4 day streak on Simurgh and Serket... 4 Rostrums and other random stuff.

I won't claim anything here as 100% factual... but I tried my best from memory and screen shots /shrug

I originally started with that name on quetzlcoatle as a hume blm. Hit 10, saw how much a taru was better then me and been a taru on carbuncle ever since.

Started my own shell back in the day with Raziel, who quit shortly after unlocking all his new jobs but i still remember my elvaan drg. Joined with a bunch of other guys who formed somewhat of a lowbie xp ls, ZeroMinus. Had seyomeyo and a few of his real life close friends, and then some of mine from the dunes until i got up to about 50 and quit at genkei I.

After I gave away my gear numerous times, quitting and coming back, found my new home in paragon, who have accepted my fickle views on ffxi as a game through my 7 "i'm done with this game forever", always waiting with a "(Hello!) dick head" when i got back.

Though my last goodbye i left in paragon, i now find myself in Elusive, a paragon hybrid now that i've returned. A lot of the paragoners went to wow for awhile and the ls sort of fizzled down, but I still enjoy the company of woof, gooch, blood, and many others i spent so long with in paragon.

Good times

By the way. Might not have been he first 75 BLU, but definitely was the first BLU, screenshot of 200 tells saying congrats to prove it. (nvm can't find it >.<)

*streeeetch* *yaawn* Been a while kids. *knocks the dust off the ol Optical hat*

The Story of Foodmonsters/Faith Plus One, as told by Neifirst(Me!):

Few glaring oversights, not that I'm surprised, since literally nobody is still around that would remember them, and any that would, probably wouldn't comment on them anyway.

Foodmonsters was originally formed by a gentleman named Bilgoba, under the name 'Foodmonster'. Shakara later recreated it because Bilgoba quit.

Not mentioning Katrine as a notable member of Foodmonsters is a massive oversight. Whether you liked him or hated him (for most it was the latter) Kat had a massive influence on Foodmonsters as we grew.

The Aquarius theft drama that Tyche was bragging about, was actually caused by a Mithra bard, by the name of Matter. Legendary psycho that claimed to be 12 years old.

The 'Faith Plus One' incident, also known as the 'reason most people hate Katrine' was one in which shortly after Foodmonsters was dumped (yes dumped, I assure you I had no interest in leading it, beyond wanting to keep things together) into my lap, Katrine had this idea to weed out all our worst players and bloat by reforming a new linkshell, which we decided to name 'Faith Plus One' after the (then recent) Southpark episode in which Cartman created a Christian Rock Band. The whole thing (it was speculated) was an attempt for Katrine to simply take over the linkshell and lead it. I freely admit to thinking this would have been fantastic, since hey, I didn't want to lead anyway.

Anyway, Shakara reactivated her account, logged on, kicked a whole bunch of people (myself included) in the ass, and got us back into Foodmonsters, then co-lead with me for a few months to make the transition suck less. So the server you know and love could well have ended up quite differently, were it not for Shak.

Of some note, Shak and I both quit to play WoW, where she (and myself) and she again have led a very successful raiding guild called JUICE (http://wowjuice.org/forums).

I decided to come post this because A: It's missing and B: I've recently set WoW down and started playing FFXI again. Just.. not as Neifirst, and not on this server.

...and for the record, you're still a douche pergo. Nice post tho.

hah! Didnt think you could have a story of carby without the guy whos pissed off more people than pergo and Perf combined did ya? hell no.
seriously though, i just recently began caring that the KI forums exist, and as such, this was naturally the first place i go. It seems to me that, after skimming over this nicely, not only am i not mentioned, but harly annd ls i have ever been in is mentioned (with the exception of 2) maybe that is because my inexplic abe unability to reach anything above mediocre status (they dont hate ALL monks, just you) or maybe its the fact that I have never been in a ls that included the words "Perfection, Jung, or Food". either way, i feel it nessecery to tell the story of my little part of history in the world we like to call carby. not or self gratification, but more for the fact that ive been in contact and considered myself friends with great linkshells and great people that i feel deserve mentioning. this is just the easiest way to get to all of them.

In October 2003, me and 4 RL friends started playing FFXI. Tarrent(me) Karak, Korok, Eitelwolf, and Lavitzs. the first few days we coul never seem to find each other, but quickly realized it was because we were all on different servers, and decided to congregate on Carbuncle, because hes cute. thats it. Korok was an elvaan monk that mainly hung around DieHards most of the time. sometimes BushidoBlades. point is, he got bored of the game around the time he hit 49 and quit. Karak took whm thf drk and brd to 50+ and was a member of Junglist for a while, but he joined the coast guard and therefore quit. Eitelwolf Cant rly decide what he wants to be hes constantly changing jobs an LSs. no real story here. Lavitzs is a 75 loldrg whos been in some notable ls such as wolfpack. an despite popular belief, we are not the same person, lavitzs and i that is. Anyways. Like I said i first started on a guy named Tarrent, he was a taru black mage. the first few moments i was logged in (and i do mean that literally. i was still reading the guide trying to figure out how to talk) this lv 20ish warrior by the name of Saasuke comes up and offers me the pearl to a ls called WhiteSpirits. after figuring out wtf he was talking about, how to relply and how to accept trades, i accepted. WhiteSpirits wasnt a large ls. some notable members would be Odomspa(who was leader i might add) Odomsmom Odomitria Lunarflower, Badcat, Ninjai (who changed his charicter name to Ethanolx) and Saasuke. we were close, it ruled. Around this time i was getting frustrated with being lv 15 all the time, so me and this chick named Kellly decided to make theme charicters. i was Kingarthur and she was Guinevere. It was a little bit after this that white spirits numbers began to dwindle, so we formed up with TheSyndicate, with members such as Conman(ldr) Shortycat Pimpcheez Earthtoneangel Cnile Punishingspider, among many others. most of which now are a part of the Cnile ran endgame monster that is flipside. I am not. Cnile hates me. dont ask why. anyways. Guinevere decided to make a new charicter called furrykelly, i belive for the simple reason she wanted to be mithra. but when this happened i began to loose intrest in Arthur. it just wasnt as cool alone, and excaliburless. so, kinda missing tarrent, i make another elvaan monk, this time with blonde sipikey hair and a name that sounds oddly like that guy from FFVI Saiben. at first i intended him to only be a mule, but after getting a dunes pt invite with him at lv 8 nd getting all the way to 20 in that one pt, i made him my main. 3 months later, i have reason to belive that i could at least be in the top 50 of first mnks on carby to 75. everyone began to leave the syndicate, cnile was starting flipside, so i went off to find me a new ls. i had short stints in SarutaGold DieHard BushidoBlades and Kalm, but eventually got invited to apply for Wolfpack by a couple of ppl i knew from whitespirits, and was accepted. i had found my home. but after a while i started feeling kinda left out and ignored in wolfpack. like there was a set amount of cool kids allowed and i wasnt one of them. so i left for PrincesssZelda and LinkHighlander's LostLegends. it was good at first, but eventually turned into the same that wolfpack did. even though i still have plenty of friends from both of those LSs, i have no intention of ever setting my foot back into them again. i kinda drifted from ls to ls at this point, mainly using my dynamis shell Astralflow as a focal point but no one ever talked on there outside of a dyna run so that was no fun. then a guy named alfo of whom i ran an assault with one time offered a pearl of his ls, lostpeoplle to me. it was nice here, but alfo quit after his on game gf cheated on him. theres drama for ya. so i made a new pearl, called serinty ls, and invited everyone from lostpeople to join. most accepted, some did not. which brings us to today. Saiben is now 75mnk sam and thf, and runs Serinty Linkshell, who got so big we had a strait up mutiny. but thats a story for another day. for now,
i want to ackowledge some of my great LS members. you guys are the best family i could ever ask for.

I noticed a few things were not updated but I will do it here.

Blackout was created by Xcommonx and I , we split the money to buy a linkshell. We were lvl 7 at the time. I gave him my portion and was given sack since you cant have 2 sack owners tongue.gif A few people were in that linkshell....

Going by memory so bear with me, Xcommonx, Linkhal, Mewn, Aristole (spelling needs to be checked on that last one), Vennidus, Walks and I(Draconix). I am sure there was a few others.

Legacies of Pain: Taneria was the owner and told us she was breaking the shell and we should get a new one and I bought the pearl for Carpenoctem and thus....many friends emerged from this linkshell that became great players.

on September fourth, 2008, my account was hacked. after an unplesent conversation with a customer service agent, who changed the password, i log on to discover Saiben had been deleted. so upset by this, i quit the game. while im considering a comeback next month, assuming SE in all its wonderous powers is able to recover my uber monk v.v in the mean time, to my friends, now you know where ive been.

Nice thread, I kept hoping to see myself incidentally in some screenshot tongue.gif Maybe one of these days I will dig up my old screens (including a few of the disastrous Vrtra attempts I managed to attend).

I really forgot how many LS I was in (NewEmpire, CDLM, Dynasty, NS, plus a bunch I probably still don't remember) and how much I used to troll this forum as I even remember some folks' avatars. I even remember being on for the WHM AF2 drama.

Nowadays I'm playing WoW (http://void.guildomatic.com/ >> Neifirst!!). Every once in a while I think about calling up Elrohir for a return to Vana'diel but like someone noted I'm sure it will quickly turn into farming beehive chips for cash XD

Critical Chaos. Formed by Chronce, Genchi, and Cubby primarily. It was mostly Genchi's idea to make a shell full of higher level players mostly from his NewEmpireLS who didn't want to deal with low level stuff. Made the pre-req to be like level 51 I believe (because no one wanted to go out papyrus hunting). I came up with the name and the figurehead position. I wanted to try to use the chance to try to get to know some people (because I figured leader = popularity) When it was (leader = people bitching about Genchi)

I can't remember what all we did. Shit was forever ago. I remember doing a lot of AF quests. I remember Genchi pissed off quite a few people with his greediness for DRK AF. I remember kicking Pergo because there were 2-3 people who didn't want him (when the only real experience I remember with pergo was like my first dunes party) There was also the time when I had to fight Genchi to let in Iceygamer (the only real time I stood up to him) Eventually people stopped coming in the LS and went back to their own LS or some of the new ones that were cropping up like Ambixes's shell (Chicken of the sea or something like that It was foreign sounding) We mainly did some partying and AF stuff and put on the air of "Oh we're 1337" to stroke our egos.

As for Chronce, I played him until level 62 or 63. By then the game had taken its toll on me. I didn't have a lot of people I could call friends as I didn't heavily socialize with most people. I remember I started crying back when I had to do AF because no one would help me on it and no place had info about warrior AF (Back when people would ask me "So you're really taking warrior all the way?" Yes I really did start crying. It was that stressful and I was pretty emo back then) After I finished my AF, I leveled a bit more then Critical Chaos started breaking apart. I started leveling Samurai to sub and helping noobs with easy shit (I hated /mnk, and /thf and this was before /nin)

Decided I was going to quit. Told Ambixes, one of the few I had on my friends list, and he brought me into his shell. Stayed there for a few days but never really did anything. Told my friend Laneyl I was quitting and he said that his uncle was interested in buying my character. His uncle, whose in-game name escapes me, asked me how much I would part with it for. I told him $100 and he said okay.

Got the hell out of FFXI for a good year before I came back and started playing on Titan in 2004 as the Tarutaru Diumis. Ended up quitting a couple times on him and have for good as of this year. No real need to go into that as it doesn't relate to Chronce the character anymore. I only have second and third hand information about him from that point on.

There ya go. I need to stop visiting FFXI sites.

The Death of FM and Birth of DRF: A Story!

This was written January 20th 2009, literally one day before the ban hammer came down on about half of DRF for Salvage dupes. Yeah I duped items. Yeah I deserved my punishment. Would I do it again? Fuck yes.

For what followed after the month of January, you'll have to butter Chinchilla up to tell her side of the story, I quit at the end of January and didn't look back. In any case, without further adieu.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not that I know the exact details as to exactly why FM broke, I’m sure there’s a little more to it than what I’m going to describe but I believe that I have a good idea based upon the events that led up to it. Btw this is really long.

On the tip of a very good in-game friend of mine I came to Carbuncle at the end of October 2007 from Cerberus after a short three month break from the game. He had told me the server was quiet and mostly populated by JP which is what I was looking for in comparison to the loud and boisterous NA dominated Cerberus. I was looking to get away from the grind of Sky and city Dynamis that I had been doing in the months before my transfer to Carbuncle. I needed change so I guess that’s the main reason I came to this server as it isn’t nearly as insane or newb as the freaks on Cerberus. The night I transferred to Carbuncle I did a Temenos with Rpgdreamers, and killed Roc with Kaminiari and Azborn of PPN. I asked all of them and a few other people including Kiyoshi about all the LSes on the server. As a joke some dude on KI jokingly suggested that I apply to Foodmonsters. I spoke to both Humnoi and Unholy the first night I was on Carbuncle about the server in general, about FM, and other LSes I could possibly join up with. It was clear to me that FM was the only choice I was going to go with so I applied even though their applications were closed. The next day I was pearled in Whitegate by Lordender and was quickly recruited to be the main RDM for FM.

I was also hazed during my first few days in FM by Lyramion (now on Pandy) to join his group for Salvage on a regular basis. This Salvage group was the main thing in FFXI that piqued my interest and also the most memorable thing of my time in FM. The group included Shaqswede (BRD), Batang (MNK), Silencer (MNK), Odinblade (THF/BLM) and Grifter (THF/BLM/RDM). A few other people joined us from time to time but those occasions weren’t frequent. For about 6 months I did Salvage pretty much everyday with these guys sucking every strategy in like a sponge. Grifter was the first NA on Carby to get 5/5 Morrigan’s in this group in late March/early April of 08. Macha’s Slops eluded him until the very end of which I have no doubt stressed the guy out. Lyramion was the second NA on Carby to get 5/5 Usukane, the first being Shugo of VFS. Batang was also looking to get a full Usukane set but eventually gave up shortly before FM broke only missing the 35 gote piece from Zhaylom Remnants. I completed three pieces with this group the first being Usukane Hizayoroi, followed by Morrigan’s Cuffs, and Usukane Sune-ate.

FM was the first LS I had been in that actually claimed an occasional HNM. Granted we didn’t claim all the time but we claimed enough times for me to learn the ropes of how to deal with each specific NM. We fought Tiamat quite a few times during my stay in FM. Gaiters seemed to drop pretty okay for us but we really got stewed on most things. Out of like fifteenish Khims during a sixth month period we only saw two Seveneyes and zero Hauteclaire. FS got a double drop off of Khim somewhere in there. We got two early morning Nidhoggs during FM’s last days as well, one dropping Shaqswede’s Ebody, and the other Defsoul’s Mbody making him one of the first NA’s to have full Koenig. I pulled all-nighters many times camping Tiamat especially, my most memorable moment in FM being our epic eight man Tiamat at 3am in the morning only to drop nothing. I camped Tiamat until the very end losing a lot of sleep just for a chance to be considered for Herald’s, by the end of FM I saw Odinblade’s, Annariel, Lokim’s, and my gaiters drop from Tiamat. Odinblade’s and my Novio Earrings were one of the last for FM as well.

FM was the first NA LS on Carby to clear a tier 2 and tier 3 Einherjar chamber, the tier 3 being the only one we would clear due to being short-handed from people being flaky towards the end of FM. The fact that Einherjar also didn’t give Ampoules to players unless they won definitely attributed to the flakiness, there was no incentive to doing it for most people only looking at a deficit in xp whenever we attempted a tier 3 chamber. I can’t remember how many times we attempted Gerhilde’s Chamber in FM only to time out on the boss at like 5% every time. Needless to say Einherjar really screwed with everyone’s head and definitely caused a good number of our people not to log on, period.

Our Dynamis luck was pretty crappy in FM’s last six months we didn’t see any good Northlands AF2 outside of one Surcoat and a few TH4 hands. We did DL probably about four or five times during my stay. We did one DL with like 17 people it was a pretty crazy sight to behold in retrospect. The last DL FM did dropped a Shadow Ring for Batang which felt like a loose end tied up after it dropping.

Towards the end of April of 08, our attendance dropped dramatically. We’d be lucky to even have fourteen people on a non-Dynamis night. RL was pwning a lot of people’s playtimes in addition to our terrible Einherjar luck. I’m pretty sure Grifter tried to keep the LS together as long as he could. Akatosh, the website admin for the Foodmonsters website, came back to the game during the last official week of events for FM. The last drop ever for FM was my Herald’s Gaiters which we killed on a Thursday, that Sunday Grifter made a post on the LS website that he had had enough and was going to quit. A few of us were pretty upset, I know that I was, while most of the other people followed Grifter’s suit and made a post detailing that they too were quitting. Those people included Humnoi, Vygun, Lukeroybaljr, Batang, Lokim, Unholy, Morracoo, Shaqswede, and several others. Grifter made it clear to the people that weren’t quitting that he wouldn’t be offended if they decided to look for a new home. He had asked if anyone wanted to take over at that point the FM pearl but no one stepped up. I felt like I could’ve but since I was only in the LS for a period of six months I didn’t feel it would be appropriate for me to ask, so I decided to make my own pearl from what was left of the FM people willing to join me.

Grifter, Humnoi, and Batang came back into the game after like a month of no playing whatsoever, mainly to take care of some loose ends and help Lyra with getting a Nyzul static going. Grif graciously gave my LS an Omega pop set. About two weeks later we had all found out that they re-quit and sold off their characters for like 3k irl money each. That doesn’t include FM’s bank of which they also RMTed between a few of the core members of FM. In the end I wouldn’t be surprised if they all walked away with close to four or five thousand dollars. They made out like bandits!

I made DownRightFierce (or DRF) in early May. It seemed like a long shot but I ended up getting together a few good people I knew from FM as well as my irl boyfriend, Mogknight, who was in UnfogivenLS at the time. Around the time FM broke up Fabled, Elusive, and Unforgiven quickly disintegrated and I became an opportunist by seeking out the remaining people from those LSes to join mine. DRF’s first members included Myself, my sacks Mogknight (ex-Cerberus server, ex-UF), Akatosh (ex-FM), Xanthe (ex-FM), Kayn (ex-FM), and other members Reezy, Kigen, Lambtor and Tempestwolf of which brought a good amount of people (thank you again Tempeh <3) from his Sky LS Memento to join DRF, including Leausion, Zarion, Chach, and Skwuirley. I managed to snag a few ex-Elusive people later including Fidelis/Gooch (who I was a loose acquaintance with at the time) and Chinchilla. Samuy was actually in my LS for a nano minute but was kicked for being a flake. Nylrem, same story, didn’t want to work for his chance to lot shit so I also removed him eventually. These people all made the core group of my linkshell and we quickly got to work eventually getting back to business where FM left off. We started out with little things the first few weeks such as farming Ghrahs in Sea, to Ix’Aerns. I really tried to keep us out of sky for more that a couple hours a week since I personally hated it and also because there wasn’t many that still needed the big items. So yeah, we mostly hung out in Sea farming the NMs there working towards our first JoL set. Batang supplied us with several JoL sets and other pop items from Foodmonsters after I had proved to him that we killed Jailer of Prudence with a shiny new Prudence Torque. He gladly unloaded all of FM’s pops unto me and was actually the last time I saw him in game.

Cutting the Fat, Enter Medwyn, Turtle Eggs, emoShadow Rings, LOLKV, and Ballbusting

The first HNM DRF snagged was a Tiamat, and overall the fight went very well for a group of people that never worked together before. Granted, in the genesis of DRF as a whole we’ve had some mishaps but mainly when we were being ballsy and low manning some HNMs during the early morning hours before most of the people in the LS even logged on. We weren’t really the kind of people to camp stuff day and night, at least until we let a former Junglist-er/FS dude in our shell named Medwyn. Med was fanatic about HNMs and in my shell he had the perfect opportunity to camp all day everyday. I don’t know if the guy actually has a real job or not but I will say this, he was a devoted member of my LS and a very talented PLD that wasn’t scared of anything. His attitude was…very apparent from the beginning. He liked to strut around my LS like he owned the place and this eventually led to his calamity. He was rightfully rewarded, however, for the amount of work he put into DRF. The big problem surrounding Medwyn began when he became very vocal about Kayn’s position in the LS and it caused quite an uncomfortable atmosphere in linkshell chat for quite sometime.

The straw that broke the camel’s back came when we claimed an Aspi during early Summer Kayn auto-lotted the lootpool for lolMfeet and the Adamantoise Egg that also dropped. I was taken aback by that and really didn’t know what to say so I just went with it, as we had lost his KS99 turtle pop (3 BLMs not enough for that btw). I got into a real vocal struggle with Medwyn in tells on how fucked up my decision was. There was nothing I could tell the guy that would make sense to him so I stopped trying. In retrospect, I do think I made a slight miscalculation on handling the whole Kayn auto-lotting the loot, but it was pretty lol drops for an Aspi, I mean c’mon.

It was around this time that I noticed that Bobbyray and Medwyn were becoming close friends, and Medwyn became even more vocal about my decisions on drops and strategies in particular. The guy was a total control freak, which is fine but he too was out of control. In August sometime when we downed our first DL we ended up getting full drops, Mantle, Ring, etc. I basically freelotted the Mantle to tank jobs, Medwyn opted not to lot for w/e reason so Zarion got our first Shadow Mantle, and then I called Kayn out right for the Shadow Ring. This is where my relationship with Medwyn got very, well, strained. I argued with him for like three hours about why I had given it to Kayn before I gave it to him. He wouldn’t listen to anything I had said. I even had a few other people tell me that my decision was wrong, but I felt it was right and seeing that we were just starting to pimp out Medwyn’s PLD and Kayn hadn’t gotten any major-ish drops I felt that it was his time to have a chance at something seeing that he had been there since the beginning of DRF. Anyway, I was fucked up, not Medwyn, at least that’s what I was told.

DRF started doing Einherjar in the very early Summer in an alliance LS I had made called Valgrind. Basically, Valgrind was what I thought FM should’ve done to solve their Einherjar problems. I had proposed to Pinktanka LS that we should alliance for two days a week for Einherjar with the purpose of splitting drops from Odin’s Chamber mainly. FM would’ve been the first LS to beat Odin had they see beyond whatever “elite” dignity some of the members had and teamed up with PPN to get the shit done. My LS was the second NA LS on the server to beat Odin. Vanafellowship beat us to the first kill by only sixteen hours, but in case anyone has any disputes I know for fact that VFS downed the first Odin. Our first Odin dropped an E body which went to Recuperi, and a Phantasmal Abjuration: Body, which Fidelis had crafted for Dionicio (Clpower) into the server’s first and probably only Valk Breastplate (that’s HQ).

Gearwise we pimped everyone out, some lucky enough to get a pair of the several gaiters we’ve gotten from 9000 Tiamats. Medwyn constantly woke a lot of us up in the middle of the night to fight stuff, Cerb was one of those and it was fine in the beginning but I think he took it too far as none of us were getting any sleep b/c of his constant camping and our obvious desire to kill those things. There were memorable moments, for example when Aftershock mpked us when they lost claim on a Khim by calling for help. The last HNM I fought with Medwyn that I actually enjoyed was our 6-man technically 5-man Khimaira at 7am in the morning. No one was even there when it popped except for us so we decided to give it a go with one dual-boxed BRD/BLM (Lexx-bot), a RDM/DRK (meeeeee), a WHM/SCH (Bobbyray), two PLD/NINs (Medwyn and Silencer), and a SAM/THF (Mogknight). Chinchilla might have come at the end to smack it with TH4, but I don’t remember exactly. It was a two hour fight and went clean as could be and only used Fulmination twice both of which were stunned. The highlight of this was we had gotten our first Hauteclaire out of it which, at that particular moment in time we all felt good to be there and show a little team work.

Somewhere in there we had some other minor drama, namely over our first Duelist’s Chapeau which I won’t be afraid to admit that I outright looted. Cory a guy who also Red Maged for us quite a bit back then sent me a tell that he was upset that he didn’t get to lot it with me, of which I refused to answer back to considering the amount of work I had put into the linkshell thus far, missing no events, etc. Cory left shortly after, which I felt was unwise as the next one would surely be his. Lo’ and behold we got like 8 or 9 chaps in the following months so bleh. People never listen to reason. Our main BRD Reezy, who was also a sack at the time, started to get a little flaky around this time in particular and seemed to be emoing out a little more than normal. Jump forward a couple weeks. So Tempestwolf camped a King V we kill it, and I called him for the drop oknp even though he never came SAM to anything. Even then I’m not going to deny what someone wants based upon something like that. He camped it, and had the job leveled so what the hell huh? <Liseth> Grats Temp Aces Helm! Happydayz amirite? Wrong! One day while we were gathering for Einherjar I noticed that Tempestwolf and Reezy were both in Western Altepa Desert. Tempestwolf then approaches me through tells like thirty minutes before our entry to come help kill KV for Cory! This is the same Cory that left our LS a few weeks earlier over emochap. I bluntly tell him no and ask both of them to please come to Hazhalm so we can start. There was no answer from either of them. Basically what followed was this. I started to DC from a nearby storm that would cut my power until the next day but before I did I managed to de-sack Reezy, and tell Tempestwolf that he was done for skipping Einherjar for somebody else’s KV. Before I got to kick him my power went out. The next day I come back and find that Reezy had left over the whole thing, as well as Tempestwolf both of which were good people, but good riddance, loldrama like this isn’t worth my Linkshell’s time and energy.

We had some minor E body drama off of our first Nidhogg, which involved Kayn, naturally. Basically, DRF spent the entire week pwning every single claim on Fafnir after our normal event hours. We spent about two hours every night camping and just got lucky I suppose. We spent the usual two hours camping on Day 6 of that week, but we ended up having to leave for Einherjar. So we do Einherjar and immediately run back up to Aery right after in time for the last window of the night. Kayn goes to San D’Oria [S] to campaign on his NIN. A couple of us zoned in about three minutes to window and Nidhogg pretty much popped right when we got down to the spawn point. Bobbyray made an epic claim with Flash and we opted to sleep it with only three of us in zone while we waited for the rest of our people to get up to Aery. I pretty much tell people to get to Aery ASAP so we didn’t lose claim. I then start getting one word tells from Kayn like “impressive” and “wow,” all of which I took as “I want an E body pick me!” I was pretty insulted at this since I usually have a lot of faith in my LS and he seemingly had none. He takes his time and ends up being the last person to fill out the alliance, we ended up putting him in the BLM party since there wasn’t any room for him in the actual tank party. About 5 minutes later we kill Nid and get a double drop of E body and M body. I called Fidelis and Medwyn for those and everyone seems psyched after a badass claim of pwning all the LSes that wasted three hours camping something they didn’t even get a chance to fight. Kayn then approaches me after about my decision and why I didn’t consider him for E body bringing up various incidents where I had whored gear that I had wanted, like the LS’s first Duelist’s Chapeau and Nashira Seraweels. He tells me that I’m “busting his balls,” etc. I explained to him there would be more E bodies, which there would be later from our Einherjar exploits. He also wanted a Justice Torque badly, which also happened to drop in between five to six times AFTER his eventual departure from DRF. Anyway, a week later after I call Kayn for Ridill he takes off and leaves for another server without a word. There’s a running joke in DRF that if it took a Ridill to get Kayn to leave then it was a Ridill well spent, not that Ridill is worth a shit anymore. To this day I have no clue if Kayn has gotten his E body or Justice Torque, but I’m fairly sure he hasn’t. If he has, good for him, I’m glad he finally got what he wanted, if not then lol. Moral of the story: wait your fucking turn.

After Kayn left, I had assumed, wrongly, that Medwyn would calm the fuck down. It only got worse. I eventually told him to gtfo and leave, of which Bobbyray also followed suit. Both guys were talented players but I just couldn’t handle their silent rebellion any longer. The drama level post-Medwyn has been more or less nil.

Vygun and Mandalorian eventually came back to the game the former joining my linkshell for a short time before re-quitting. Mandalorian has since stayed and joined my Salvage group as a fulltime member.

DRF isn’t a perfect LS, we have our screw ups </3 the randomness of Chainspell Stun zergs, but I have no doubt we’re one of the best NA Linkshells Carby has ever had. We are Devil’s onion ringers, roasters of ponies, kitty declawing, chasers of orange flappy dragons, Elite Einherjars before bed LS! We’re not particularly hardcore, but we get shit done. Let it be known that we are and were a part of Carbuncle’s interesting history!

You forgot the most important part of your story....

Me.

I'm gonna have to get Meep to help me make the story of Frenzy since as of Sept 14 2009, she's no longer.

Here you go, Paz. A novel, just like how Jafar likes it.

The Story of Frenzy (or at least, how best I know it)

It begins in the shadowy past of October, 2005, back in the days of pure JP dominance of the server. There was a shell named Euphoria, which was led by Tarien, which was coming to a close but had many members who wanted more. Thus, Frenzy was born.

Started by our first lead, Paigne, we started off with a base of Jafar, Muadib, Warkvlt, and Sassafras, along with others like Hando and Namuri. Heavy recruitment followed, as a rough set of rules were determined. Our primary goal at that time was to kill Fafnir and Nidhogg, as these were the 'big kills' of the day. Which was a Wednesday.

Eventually, we rounded out our roster with a lot of really good people, Masenko, Arikajumonji, Paz, Dirian, Frice, Alathar, Loranna, and myself. Somewhere in December of that year, we downed our first Fafnir, which was seen as a major accomplishment. Mind you, this was back in the day of Perfection, Paragon, and FM camping heavily along with JP shells, getting claim was a bitch.

Around January, 2006, we had our first major drop, a Ridill which went to Paigne. This Ridill also started a curse, where we could not keep them in shell at all, since shortly after Paigne got his Ridill, he quit the game. From what I remember, he apparently wanted to give lead to Muadib, but he was not on, so Masenko got it.

Things went normally for the next few months, focusing mainly on the 3 Kings, but having little luck outside of getting Fafnir. Of course, we did Sky and the like as well, and started getting people Sea. Around April, Jafar came up with an idea, to do Dynamis in house. Back then, everyone had separate Dynamis shells (Megaboss, AstralFlow, EqualibriumX, PocketAces), with I think only FM doing Dynamis as well as other endgame. At first it was optional however we saw how well we did in Dynamis with half the shell, so leadership made it mandatory. This led to a few people leaving the shell, as they did not want to leave their Dynamis shells. Those of us who stayed were justified, as within a few months we downed Dynamis Lord, something most of the Dynamis-only shells had not done yet.

Around June, 2006 we had another spat of drama. On camping high-Nidhogg chance, leadership got into an argument on who should lot E. Body should it drop. Mind you, we did not get claim at all, but this argument continued, as both Warkvlt and Masenko wanted to lot. This escalated until Masenko left the shell, giving lead to Muadib, but taking most of the bank. Remaining leadership asked to keep this quiet, to their credit, as this could have been huge drama.

Things went fairly smoothly for a while, picking up members, moving along in Dynamis with a goal of making an Aegis for Muadib, and moving out to kill bigger things. Sometime around here we killed our first Tiamat in a ugly as hell kill (gogo PLD/WAR and NIN/WHM tanks, with SC/MB for damage.) Our luck in DA shifted, getting a spat of Nidhoggs, like 4 in the span of 9 days (there was a maintenance there), and getting Ridills for Dirian and Warkvlt, along with E Bodies and M Bodies. Oh, the M Bodies we got, probably around 6 of them, in a time where a M Body PLD was rare. Not a single Dalmatica dropped, though.

Sometime along the way, Mythrandyr and his gf (at the time) Jolie applied and were accepted. Myth's experience with FM helped us immensely, allowed us to move forward quickly, and as such he was made an officer within a short while (to be honest, too short.) This led to some internal strain, which came up one Dynamis-Xarcabard when our first SMN Horn dropped (yes, we had never saw one.) Muadib called Jolie along with some of our other SMN's (I think Tarien and Jazlyn), with Jolie winning the lot. To say the shit hit the fan there is an understatement, people were upset over Jolie winning the horn, to the extent that Muadib resigned from leadership, believing people did not trust his judgement. Not wanting to see the shell die, Sassafras took up the pearl.

What followed was a bit of reorganization, with myself being voted in as a officer, and moving forward with killing everything we could. Nothing really big happened for a while, just the normal killing stuff, getting drops. Oddly, we would always go on claiming sprees, and then get nothing for a month despite trying. We would kill 6 Tiamats in a row, then have it pop in JP time for the next 2 months. Still, things settled down after the SMN horn thing.

However, Sassafras was beginning to want to move away from playing FFXI, leadership in the shell being one of the main things that kept her playing. Around the end of February, 2007, Sass determined that she needed to take time off in game, so she lent her toon to Gadritan and administered the shell from the outside. Things went well until Gadritan got caught cheating, and got the Sassafras toon banned. The Frenzy shell died on that day.

Determined to keep this up, Sass came back on a retired member's toon, Namuri. Repearling, first under the name Unforgiven (which we thought was too emo), then under the name Inferus, we pretty much picked up where we left off, with Sass taking a more day-to-day interest in the shell even though she was tired of playing (being a mom > video games.) Eventually, we all tired of the name Inferus, and on Tarumara's suggestion, changed to FrenzyLS. Sometime during this we finished Muadib's shield, and started collecting currency for something else, not determined at the time.

Sass eventually just could not play anymore, and she wanted to quit. She gave lead to Mythrandyr, who was also not long for the game. Myth led the shell for a short period, but eventually gave lead back to Muadib. Sometime around this time we settled on making a GHorn for Makai as our next Dynamis goal.

Under Muadib's second reign, we accomplished a ton, killing many Khimiaras, Cerbs, Tiamats, Aspids, and so on. We also got the first Dark Ixion kill on the server and 5th overall, a 2+ hour affair with so many deaths it was not funny, since no one knew wtf to do. We tried our hands at Einherjar, but our numbers were never all that good for it, though we did get through 1 Odin. Our second relic was completed rather quickly (despite not getting a Attestation to drop, we had to buy that), mainly through having a month of dominating Sandworm. We started making a second GHorn, this one for Xkid, as our next goal.

However, around March/April of this year, our membership began to shrink and our leadership began to tire. Einherjar was proving to be impossible, and attendance for Dynamis was shrinking. Needing to do something to keep the shell going, Muadib chose to merge with the merc shell Condottieri, thus making Frenzy into a full on merc shell. Keeping members from both shells, the new goal was to make as much gil as humanly possible. Also, with this merge, lead was handed off to Lief, otherwise known as Jafar in a previous incarnation.

The new FrenzyLS was very successful in making gil. In a short amount of time, we completed Relics for Skiethx (GHorn), Xkid (GHorn), Lief (Apoc), Ramzus (Amano), Kurdiuk (Spharai), and Syix (Excal), along with making huge dents in Relics that were already started. We killed anything and everything in our way. Along the way, we started seeing some strain, as first Skiethx got kicked over skipping ever Dynamis, then Medwyn left over being de-officered, then Samuy left, then Syix ninja-transferred. Others who had finally achieved their goals quit the game, like Ramzus. While we had a lot of success quickly (in 6 months we made over a billion gil), that success came at a price.

By the time July hit, Lief was in the process of moving, and leadership was under a ton of pressure. We tried to do what we could, but the writing was on the wall. Evenutally, people started leaving, then the bombshell hit: Lief was quitting the game due to r/l pressure. That, my friends, was the straw that broke Frenzy's back.

Paz tried to take up leadership, but he could not do it. With no one else willing to take up the pearl, the shell died away. No drama, it was just the end of a fantastic run. We killed most everything in the game, and started at a time when endgame was dominated by 2 NA shells and the JP's. Every major goal we set, we accomplished. I am massively proud of how much we did in this game, and am proud of all of our members, from the guys at the beginning like Hopella to the guys from the merge like Eilan. Yeah, the road was full of bumps, but we killed what we wanted.

To everyone that was in Frenzy at anytime, thank you. That experience will stay with me forever.

So, if you made it this far that is the story of Frenzy. I am sure I am leaving things, and people out, it's a long story with many contributors.
