Who here plays or is going to play?
Do you think it will, eventually, rival WoW?

I recently obtained a copy, and got through all the subscription process.

Having logged on i found it (expectedly) laggy as shit, even after adjusting for best performance.
Chat log was flooded with shouts of Lag and Predicted Game Crash.

Having been logged in for less than 5min i was booted back to log-in screen, so
i decided to log and try at another time.


BloodHammer (i think was the name) is the server i joined.

It sounds like your computer is having issues with the game... I havent crashed in the last 3 days... and I experience no lag on high quality settings (except in towns)
I belong to all the channels available in game (On Hilsbury Server) and I havent seen anything like you said... Maybe switch servers... It sounds like yours is full of whiners

Tezz, if you got booted back to the login screen I believe that might be due to the support team doing a quick in-game fix in your area. It happened to me one time while playing. A certain NPC had vanished off the face of the earth, but then a bunch of people got kicked back to the login screen and had to sign back in. When I got back the NPC was back where he was supposed to be.

Excuse me.. but can I perchance have your "trial key"? Thats the only way to get a free trial as of right now it appears. (Only ppl who buy get a free trial key to give out.) If you can be so nice as to please PM me the key I would really appreciate it.

This game has some good points, but it will not be a WoW killer. Its making me come back to FF XI at the rate its going.

Not many games can rival World of warcraft, simply because the masses of idiots and 12 year old boys are addicted to it like crack.

It won't rival WoW because of the name WoW has created for itself. It is an easier game to play which allows very casual players like myself to still be able to hit the maximum level (and have a blast doing it) without commiting 6+ hour shifts per gaming session.

If Vanguard gets all its bugs out and makes itself completely squeeky clean, then there is a chance that it will do quite well. I myself want to play Vanguard, because although I do not think it will surpass WoW, it does look quite interesting. The thing that definetly draws me in is diplomacy. I loved how in Morrowind and Oblivion you could sweet-talk your way through situations, or trick others into doing the dirty work for you. It felt more like real life, where if you look at WoW, FFXI, EQ, so on and so forth, there is no diplomacy. It's "ZAFT DONT LIEKE U! ZAFT SMASH!" which is quite fun, yet sometimes you just wish for something a little bit different.

If anything, I'll get it for that. Just on those off days when I'm like "Ok...raping all the Alliance morons is getting a tad boring...DIPLOMACY!"

Besides, if it will expand upon what the game was meant to be (a world without boundaries; a second world rivaling real life in which you could do impossible feats, yet still having the feeling of not playing a game, but living a life), then it will do spectacularily.
