with all the FF games i played FFT, FFT for gameboy, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10 what i remember from trying to get drops was not very hard just as long you could kill the mob that holds the item. a big one that comes to mind is ozma in 9 that droped something for the arc summon i beleave.
in FF III for DS i spent level 57 ish to 94 just to get full onion armor (main level not job level) leveling off the mobs that drops the items rated around 4% drop rate I beleave just for one piece per mob so have full you need 4 swords, 4 shilds, 4 body 4 feet and 4 hands,.. well I had about 20~ shilds before i got 4 hands sheech..
in 11 i assume everyone know how frustrating it is to get that one drop to own for your self.
why did 12 have to be like that too? from random spawning chests to having .00000001% of getting the item from it.
an example from what i understand is like the Zodiac spear that can come in a chest in phase 2 in henne mines, you got a 10% chance of the chest of actually popping where you need it and a 10% chance the spear is in there. on top of that you need this item equipped just to give you this 1/100 chance to get it.
or you can be psychic and not touch these "forbidden chests" to get it from somewhere else and from my understanding its rare there as well.
same goes for ribbon and other classic FF armor..
i really want my ribbon it has always been my favorite equip item.
SE needs to drop the low drop rate concept

In FF10, there was the rare monster hunting.
I don't remember what monster (tonberry, I want to say?), but there was one that was redonculously rare, and you needed 10 of them, if you wanted to fight the hardest boss. It was in that cave where you find Yojimbo.
It'll always be there, though. If you want the e-peen of a 100% completion, you're gonna have to work for it, can't just expect a cakewalk.

I don't see repeating a task such as finding a rare drop a challenge, then its a game of who has the most time on their hands as apposed to overcoming true challenges.
I don't see trying get some ultra rare .0000000000000001% thing a challage thats for only trying to make the game last for people with more times on their hands.
I guess what im saying is it better not gow where you can't actually finish the storyline with having these barriors but i don't know even not able to get a ribbon without a start guide i find a little lame. I mean all the other games that had them i got it without a stat give though i did not look to see if there is one in fft i dont remeber one in that game.
I like to play with all the "stuff" just to see what it is like to play with it but going there starts cant have your cake and eat it too phoisphy i guess.
classic stuff like ribbons and getting shiva ( anther reason i find FF 12 lame i miss diamond dust ;-
should be reasonably achievable.ant that what makes the FF series? recycling all this stuff like holy, flare , etc, etc chocobos.. i mean who wants a FF where you have to spend 100 hours to see cid or ride a chocobo? I'm saying its getting to large and it should not get even bigger.. 11, and 2 went into the deep end of having rare dops.

It was never meant to be a challenge so much as a test of your patience, or display of your dedication.
It's almost all just a little easter egg meant to make the people happy (after they actually get it) that want to get every single possible drop out of their Final Fantasy.

I see that point but the did not have to do it to with getting ribbons. in this FF without a ribbon you can get an item to block confuse, disable, or stop. If the mob uses all 3 in a move to your hole pt your screwed if you can only block one like facing something like bad breath ( this is delt with by just having a good formation around the mob) some boss mobs have moves that will hit all dispite formation strategy though so you need to block all 3 or depend on the luck of magic evade or switch your pt members (sometimes you cant switch if the mob is targeting you thats kind of annoying as well 10 was not like that). the only good thing i feel about 12 is i can beat the game without having that.. its just i miss having one ribbons are classic ;-;.
in 9 that final boss was not so forgiving you needed to have a few bad status blockers but the system in 9 for that was very different.
I think it should not get that big though where this kind of stuff gets in your way of playing around with classic stuff like my exmaple of having to need 100 hours just to ride a chobobo , i hope that never happends

The Zodiac Spear is so annoying to get because it is very VERY powerful. I have Basch going around swinging the spear and he almost one-hits everything. As a sidenote its fun to watch him go on triple/quadruple hits on enemies just to see the damage he produces.

KI ate my long replay. Grrrrrr
ok ill yeild my argument for the spear i really did not know it was that strong but why do it to ribbon? you can even switch out gear when you see so in so casting stop you quip the immune to stop item.
I just hope SE would not continue to do it with classic items like with ribbon... I forget how to get the ability in 8 but it could not be that hard i mean i got it, 9 it was in storyline you get the accessory in FF III for DS you find ribbons in chests in the last areas that where stoyline involved. FF 7, FFT, and FF 10 i don't remember the presence of ribbon.
I really dought anyone wants to see some perquisites that takes 100 hours to do to get a chobobo in the upcoming FF games.
gearing and cusomizing chrs:
My first FF was 8 and what bought me to stick to the FF seris was seeing the neat story and the customizing dissensions you have to make. when i played 8,9, 10, FFT, and 7 I seen all the ways you can customize your chrs to fit your strategy. This is where i find FF 12 lacking in. the license system its way to easy to get everyone everything ( no i dont level grind). the only time where i had to actally plan something was unlocking routes to quickings. when I found out how these things worked when my main team was level 14 ish no gide ( i discovered 2 by just unlocking black magic) i tried to spend all my extra LP i had my main team all have level 2 quickings 2 chrs in my main team was very close to the 3rd. when i got to the tomb of raithwall i had everyone have them all unlocked. some dealed info about what i did:( i sotra take this back, viewing past saves if i was more aware of quickings i would of had 2 unlocked for most of my chrs when my main guys where only 13 saved at rabanstre with fran at 9 balthier at 10 and basch at 11 when I just started the tomb of raithwall event. when my main hit 19 they had them all just about minus balthier who was still level 10 when i I clicked on that save at the tomb, he was only 150 lp away from it at this point. this is with vaan, ashe, and penelo being level 19 fran (gained a level, remember i said she was 9 at rabanastre? )and balthier where still 10 with basch at 11. Trying this one boss fight again, my main team one shoted the boss to get in the tomb by doing a 31k damage chain on it. Past this point I started to one shot bosses and hunt mobs off these chains. (bosses and hunt mobs found a lot later the ones that have more then about 80k hp have no chance of being killed like this, remember i can get 2 full barrages from having 2 pts without using eathers or w/e) it was at this point where my melees where lacking some access in black magic but full acess to the other classes of spells i had avablie at the time, but this is very early in the game. This is the point just before you actally fight your first summon called espers. Past this point I did not have a hard time picking out my LP i remember fighting bosses with my magic team that went magic immune so i pulled up the lp board and just unlocked my strongest weapons i had on me to use to kill it. When I had an insane amount of LP i would just spend them on stupid stuff i did not need like weapons I did not have or less useful augmnet slots like getting 12 gambit slots. I find the LP system lacking without any real disideion making on how to customizing your chrs. unlike 9 where its impossible to equip everything at once though AP (even if you have the max of 99) or 10 unless you spend a lot of time getting though that hole grid I have everything accessed in 12 without trying. even the base stats of each chr does not differ much to give you an idea of direction. with my level now everyone has about the same stats but hp is a little different and mp a big difference since you can triple the value of it with unlocking quickings.
Storyline wise I find it ok and i can see the point of view people have where the "main" chr vaan was just thowen in there, i see the game more centered around ashe with spoilers:[white]while basch's brother was one of the main judges and balthier the sky prite was a former judge to me holds more to the story then vaan and penelo. to me vaan holds nothing to the story but his brother was killed in the war with his tag along penelo who is in it because her parents where killed in the war if i remember right.[/white] where in 9 I felt more drawn to the chrs delopment and feelings on things and events. I do admit im no expert in the matter i can see why people said 12 had weak chr devopment.
battle system:
the action packed system is nice a big rip off from 11 if you ask me. in 10 you could switch chrs with no resection unlike 12. I find it funny where my main mage can spend her LP on using a spear and go to town on a boss that just went magic immune on a dime but i have resection on switching out my chrs. now the action packed system is nice but to me has some flaws in it. there has been times where i faced common mobs and the actions paused because of command overload from both sides. I even plan a renew cast a head of time but somehow it let the mob attack twice from each mob and one of my chrs end up dieing.
