for the straight magic reduction build (non-aegis) I think you should add Palmerin's shield. -2% DMG taken, so it would reduce 2% of magic damage. Nothing else in this slot really worthwhile. If your a cheap person or a little short on cash this helps bring you too the Magic reduction cap without having all the HQ gear.

For the -%MDB wouldnt Palmerins shield be the best piece for this slot? -2% DMG taken would seem to trump the 25 HP that would otherwise be used in that slot. Its worth looking into if you cant find some of those +1 items or just have bad luck with the crafting of them.

ks99 wyrm was actually why i started building my fire set, and it's... an emergency tool if anything in the end. however i was in a run where we had all our blm's die due to a slow chainstun when wyrm flew, i held it in the air for 10 minutes for the blm's to completly recover.

i have noticed that ouryu and wyrm deal less damage with fireballs, cause i can get those 2 mobs down to like 9-4 damage, but tiamat i havn't gotten to below 24.

might work, this puts ice resist in the 130 range, i don't really fight jorm that much so i doubt i'll have a chance to test this out, if anyone does go fight him and uses any kind of ice resistance setup i would be eager to hear of your results.

With what i was able to get in short notice and going off this im at 136, should be doing Jorm soon and ill post any results here.



This was my gear with Bar and carol max dmg was 267 lowest was 36 inbetween was 236 and 64. Dont remember what I was taking before with a lot worse setup then this so i cant compare.

how often were the attacks hitting 36? cause it sounds like you were just barely too low...

Jorm is just generally tougher to resist than Tiamat or Ouryu, so if you don't have the best gear you can get, you're probably better off using your MDB set. He also doesn't spend nearly as much time in the air though, so eating the full damage isn't as bad a plan as it is for the others. Granted...always better to reduce it...just saying it's not as big a deal as it is for the others.

how often were the attacks hitting 36? cause it sounds like you were just barely too low...

It would vary greatly, think some times carol and or bar was down when he flew but for like one entire flight he would hit first 267 then 36 - 36 - 36- 64, then other flight times were 267-267-236-64.

You can't get enough Light resist on Ultima for it to be worthwhile. Just go with a full MDB/Magic-%/HP build, and the damage should be easily handled. Hell, I think it's already been described in the OP, why don't you just take a look there?

Getting as close as possible to -25%(assuming your WHMs aren't morons, and have capped ShellV) is priority. Stack MDB after that point.

do you have anything you would consider more important to spend your points on? If your at the point that your making little tweaks to a gear set and fine tuning your situational items then by all means get it. Not everyday are you going to be able to snag some AV loot.
