ok.... since i guess this is continuing... let us discuss what you have done first... posted a "WoW vs. FFXI" thread in on a FFXI website >_>. go to the al'qaeda, and ask who's better "Al'qaeda vs. America."
now that that's out of the way.
Lets look at the numbers... FFXI has trouble keeping more than a million people playing, WoW has no problem keeping 8 million plus playing.
FFXI is more aesthetic when it comes to graphics, i can admit that WoW's graphics are inferior, it BLEEDs color

, i did enjoy FFXI's subtlety.
Next... combat engine. FFXI = 6-18 robots with 4 abilities each attacking a single target for sometimes 8 hours or more.
WoW= 1 person with tons of abilities can solo (shit, i can take 2 mobs my level np, can you do that in FFXI post Lv. 10?). Or you can do the 40 man raids (woo, fun). and you can fucking move and JUMP as you like in WoW >_>, and you have mounts... fuck a chocobo you can summon 1 time every 2 days, i'll whip out my fucking giant black war wolf. MOTHER FUCKING PVP!!!!! omfg i have never enjoyed PvP so much, in FFXI if you're not a RDM or WHM, try taking out more than 2 people without getting butt fucked. in WoW, i've taken out 3 people... at one time that were my level (horde always win). Also, in FFXI RDM and BLU Win- End or story. I remember my mnk (PCC, Shura Togi, Shura Haidate +1 etc etc fucking crazy) Pumping a buffed RDM for 100 damage on Asuran fists. In WoW- No job prevails, everyone has its weaknesses, and they can be exploited.
FFXI was made with "PT ONRY!" in mind, while WoW was "hmmm... we're gonna make instances where multiple jobs can and will be used for whatever, but we are also gonna be PvP"
Also, the depth thing is what FFXI is all about right? those 4 Huge linear stories (CoP, ToAU, Rank Missions, ZM). What no one, or the masses don't tend to notice is the extreme amount of lore behind WoW, the Story is huge, no one just cares to notice.
And also- RMT, the bane of existance to FFXI players. In WoW: "RMT- Who gives a fuck."
The other thing i saw someone mention- something about day to day play with WoW was great, but FFXI lasts much longer. Know why? Because SE made the game with this in mind, everything takes for fucking ever. Waiting on an airship, ten minutes, RUNNING to the dunes omfg... oh... forgot your food? better head back to san d'oria, ok you run back, now you got your food, wanna pt? oh... wait time..... hmm i think jeapardy's on. YAY got pt.... lets fight a mob! now you engage in what seems to be a mix of an angry orgy and clusterfuck for 8 minutes taking out one fucking lizard... ALL RIGHT!
Speaking of- That lizard you're fighting at level 10... get use to seeing his ugly face, you'll be fighting that same fucking thing for the next 50+ levels. maybe it's a different name, and different HP and DEF. but trust me, it's the exact... same... fucking... lizard.
Another thing about the Graphics- FFXI May be superior up close, but look at how far you can see in WoW, and when you can no longer see, it's not like it randomly disappears >_> like... oh... where'd that moutain pop up from? but it fades in more or less seamlessly. And, it's not like FFXI is generating new content when they give you new gear, they just have an official .dat making team, and they give the same armor you've been wearing sense level 7 some cool new colors. WOO!
And the Pre-rendered abilities path told us about (path, i mean no disrespect to you, you're probably one of the people i have most respect for in these forums), yes, the abilities do look kool, but... look at how they're carried out... they're all that same character animation- The one that looks like they're trying to pinch off a log (especially mithra). on the occasion you'll get one where they swap the Black Magic animation with the "log pinching animation" for a 2 hr (Manafont), or same thing but instead of black magic they use White Magic (the defense abilities like Arcane/Holy Circle).
