Just wondering if anyone here has high enough skill to tell me, and if not which guild is profitable? I have $420,000 Gil that I'm going to put into a guild, i want it to be the right one....

All I have to say is that at level 60-something Weavers can craft Vermillion Cloaks, which sell for 5 million in Jueno. Not to mention they're just cool to have. Refresh on all the time? Gimme. Though I'm by no means a high level crafter. =D So don't let me persuade you into it. Oh, on that note, Earth Crystals for weaving are dirt cheap. -Dirt- cheap. HAHAHAHHA. ...*Quiets.*

ok i got alchemy up to lvl8 and never made any profit from it, come to find out that THE ONLY way to make profit from it is to farm all your ingrediants (which would take a LONG time) this is even true for making high-level items

i just started fishing... very good guild... heres why
i started out with 3k at lvl 0, im now lvl 5 and have a total of about 14k, so roughly 11k profit over two days of hardcore fishing with skill lvl up to boot, however it is a must to have the fishing gear and at low lvls fish in windy using a bamboo + lugs for port to catch quus, sardines, and kelp-- then when you are ready go to any of the other freshwater areas and change your bait to insect paste to catch moats, a stack of moats sells for 4k...

fishing i think is most profitable because even from the start you will even out and by lvl 5 with fishing gear you will be making profit. the other guilds rely on you farming all the materials thus they do lvl up faster (but you have to spend the time farming for them) where as with fishing you just go buy a rod and some bait and kick back and relax.

Actually farming your ingredients is something of an illusion. You have to consider how much you could have sold them for when considering how much it costs to make your craft. Often, it's better to farm something better and just buy ingredients with that extra money.

Weaver is a great skill but the prob is once everyone becomes one the prices will go down and you'll be out of a job, or once everyone buys a Cloak...>.>

the trick thing about weaving/smithing/goldsmithing is that those uber high level JSE armors to make cost almost as much to make so atbeast if you make a vermillion or black robe your goin to spend as much to make as sold unless you get lucky and HQ synth it. I'm working on alchemy and not making any money also and from what i have hear the only bit of profit your goin to make is off hi potion and x potions. The reason crafting is so ineffective is most people dont realize this game is well over a year old to the JP so they are have stupid high level crafting so making money is non-existance. I just want to make my own bullets.

crafting is more used to make your own equipment not a lot of money to be made in any of not if you are looking at that get rich quick solution but alchemy is not that expensive I do alchemy and at lvl 10 i make money at it because 90% of your ingrediants can be bought from merchants around the world for dirt cheap so if you have an airship pass and the time to fly alchemy isn't bad but as far as what in alchemy sells good it is very limited as to what sells .... fishing is also a very good guild make money very fast very cheaply but i suppose guilding is like picking your race, job and sub job its all what you want to do and be able to make^^

happy crafting

Actually most crafts will start making you money after a certain point WITHOUT having to farm. You just have to find the item(s) that'll sell good and you'll have your cash crop. For smithing, you can easily break down Goblin Helms and Goblins armors into iron/steel ingots. People usually buy these because they either have the money to spend and/or don't want to waste time making it on their own. That's just one example. There are other stuff in other crafts that'll make you money.

Here's a hint though. Don't just look to sell equipment for your money. They actually make you the least amount of profit.

i'm lvl 11 fisher, started by borrowing someone's gear
after one day of solid fishing i got to lvl 5 and make about 16k
the next day i fished to lvl 10 and made about 28k
so i gave him back the gear and bought my own and just fish here and there for moat
but yesterday i started alchemy, very easy to lvl for the first 6-7 lvls
just make tr..ta...the weird ninjitsu tool
just go to sand and buy rock salt and distilled water from npcs, and buy ice *clusters* for about 1k each, the damn retards in jeuno sell stacks for 2k but clusters for one
getting it up to lvl 7, i made about 5k
and i'm lvl 7 tongue.gif

Congradulations. This is a fine example of being able to profit from crafting. While Mongoose only did this for early alchemy levels, you can do similar things at higher levels as well. Just keep talking to the guild advisors (especially the one that charges for advanced image support) and find a recipe that'll give you the most profit or the least loss and make that to gain skills on.

I would also look very seriously into a craft before starting it. My main point here is to look at the craft in the long run and how you can sell stuff. Crafts such as Cooking, Alchemy, and Woodworking rely on making expendibles. IE foods, potions, arrows. There will ALWAYS be a need to make even the more basic arrows in the game what with how fast up and coming rangers go through them. Now something such as Blacksmithing. While it is a very core craft, TONS of people try that one first (at least I see tons on middy but maybe its just cause I'm a good ol' Bastoker) smile.gif There's not much in the way of making stuff once the market is flooded to a certain extent. when you see 50+ brass whatever armor items on sale in an AH, forget trying to make ANY money off of that. Just thought I'd put in my two cents and my current thoughts on my crafting efforts as I'm focussing more on Alchemy atm. The friends that I have at least who are raking in the cash off of crafting are doing so by making expendibles.
