Hey Chocofans ^^

For all of you wonder why SE is making you do so many Official Races for no -real- prizes, they're not! I just finished CRA Classic Chocobo Race (the final until june) and I was pleasantlly suprised with 1 Chocolixer 6500g 10 chocobucks and a Gyashl Medal, yeah it's not much but the cs was pretty good. Also, it made me remember that i'm sure there's much more to come. Here are some pics:






I honestly suggest doing the official races, the last race is one of the most heart rate raising things in ffxi i've done in a while

Yay me!

I was so excited when I got to the taru and saw I could do the next official race, I didn't even bother changing back to my normal gears, now I look like a noob on this screenshot! D:< Btw, CoP is fun when you're not doing it for yourself

Anyway /sigh It took me 3 times =/ (Good thing I had a lot of Chocobucks saved up!)
I finished second on the first 2 tries, taru beat me by about an inches on the 1st race.

My winning race, I'll tell you, I never thought I'd make it.
I started, I was leading, with 2 other chocobos in my butt.
Then some guy use an item to make it rainy.
At that moment I was still First. Then some other taru uses a Pepper Biscuit against my chocobo, my speed dropped down, I was 6th or so. Then I my chocobo hit himself on something (Caused by the rainy weather).

I made it up! To the First place! And my jockey didn't even use my pepper biscuit! D:<
Which is something I don't understand.

First race: Sprint + Speed Apple
Second Race : Final Spurt + Speed Apple
Last Race : Keep Pace + Pepper Biscuit (Not used)

Keep Pace, I can understand. I realized that I always win when I use Keep Pace. Sprint and Final Spurt is 50%-50%.

But? Speed Apple doesn't always help me. Is it because I already have Strengh and Endurance at First-Class? Is it a % on your Strengh Level? Like the lower your Strengh is, the higher your Speed Bonus will be?

Is there another official race after this one tomorrow? It was an easy win like the other official ones.

I did the one in Bastok with Cid, and got the same things. Ayame was the jockey on Cid's bird.

i failed that race twice, even with keep pace and first class STR+END chocobo (no abililties) on my mule. I used fire biscuits because no pepper biscuits were up on AH.

my chocobo (retired) has max (or 1st-class) STR, outstanding Stamina, no ability, poor everything else. Obtained the medal + gil + Chocorookie too, after getting first place (used gyashal bomb) :3

now 0/4 on the race. the third one was hard one to bite, my bird had 1st into final corner with shadow apple in effect - then another jockey used a pepper biscuit that successfully landed and less than a few steps later I was 8th ><. my bird has first class strength/endurance and no abilities. I have tried gyashal bombs and fire biscuits in the other 3 races, best I could muster was 3rd.

That last race is definitely hard even if you have a fast chocobo. My retired black First-class STR+END, Poor DIC+REC, no abilities chocobo scored first place in every other official race. But I failed the CRA Classic three times before finally squeeking by on my fourth attempt. Final one using Final Spurt + Speed Apple. It seemed no matter what I tried, I was always in the middle of the pack even tho my chocobo was much faster than the others. In the race I finally won, my jockey waited until the last moment to use the speed apple and I only barely inched ahead to first place when I got to the finish line.

Won this race today after waiting several weeks while amassing chocobucks through free runs. Woohoo! It was a one try race with my really average yellow SpringPegasus (STR - Better than Avg, END and Receptivity both poor, and DIS - Impressive). I used a speed apple and had my jockey use Sprint. I suppose a lot of it was luck as the other jockeys used a lot of items which slowed down some of the faster ones. My jockey pulled out the speed apple during the middle of race and pulled up to the front since then - perhaps timing from good discernment has a lot to do with winning? I was so psyched to win and see the final CS! What's next?
