Where is the thread on the Feast of Swords, this event rocks! Whats better then running around at flee speeds wacking stuff with a stick? Its a hell of alot more fun then spelling stuff with eggs!
I'm sure most that have participated have figured out the basics, like getting your Lotus Katana and Shinai. I'm sure others have figured out how to kill the Mithra also, but incase you were wondering, here is how we did it.
The Omodaka Armor is the Mithra, unlike the others that poke you for like 1-2 dmg a shot, she 1 shots most level 1's. The easiest way we found to beat her was to abuse the fact that no buffs wear off when you become level 1. And the fact you can zone to erase hate/level 1 status. Soooo, get some Rdm's (mine was L65, worked perfect), get atleast 3 of you. (All you need is 3 to hold the cycle, the more the merrier). Basically you abuse your Stoneskin/Phalanx, and for even more fun, Protect IV, Haste, Blink. Enspell and Spikes don't proc. With Stoneskin/Phalanx on a higher levlel Rdm, she will ahve trouble breaking your stoneskin before your Phalanx wears.
The basic strategy, is to fight right at a city zoneline, when your Stoneskin or Phalanx wears, you zone immediatly to avoid being killed. You then zone back out, rest MP, rebuff, talk to moogle to become level 1, and engage. With 3 Rdm's you can time a rotation, so someone is always attacking the Omodaka Armor, so that silly Mithra won't run away. Ofcourse, this kills slow, but since there is always alot of others hanging around the zone/moogle, they will join you in the fight, and some are even smart enough to get stoneskin (most just get 1 shotted after a Rdm zones).
Whats the reward you ask? You get a Stables Collar for the city you fought near. 10 Free teleports to Chocobo stables of that city.

Otherwise, yes, your strategy is good. We did a nice run with some members of my LS in Ronfaure. Most stragglers just hacked at it, but some did that buffing thing you stated. Took a good 15-20 minutes to kill that mofo >_>

15? Is it HQ version? Because I have a stable's collar from another event and it only has 10 charges.
Also, does everyone get the reward by clicking the "???" or something?
And yes, this event rocks. I love the feast of swords event, especially this one due to the "flee" gain.
It beats most events except the Christmas Treant event in 2003.
Other events have you standing around in towns, wasting gil or shouting endlessly for something or looking through everyone's bazaar's for stuff, etc.
Also, that's a bad reward TBH. It should have infinite charges but have a 5 day cooldown like "Treant Staff II".

Here's a tip that I didn't learn until the last one I fought, spam Dia for hate. It will be resisted, but since everyone is hitting for 0 damage, it will gravitate to you after only one cast (or two or so).
I also suggest subbing White Mage for Reraise (I'm too cheap to waste a item) and Cures. I used a Jack-o-Lantern, but I didn't notice a real increase to my Evasion or Accuracy....

We did this as with about 10 people in the zone, and yes, RDM is the best tank for this. When you have Stoneskin, Protect IV, and Phalanx, the mithra won't get through your stoneskin until the phalanx wears off. We used two RDMs to tank this, each dying on purpose after phalanx wore in order to be ready to tank the mithra when the other RDM's phalanx wore. <3 Olduum Ring.

Rdm/Rng is the best. Cast Pro/Shell, Stoneskin, Phalanx, and Refresh. Like Mmtheblue said dia will get hate so spam that till refresh wears, and sharpshot is like invincible for a rdm at lvl1. You will have hate till your stoneskin wears. 2 or 3 rdm can tank this easy, just need alot of other people to wack at it to shorten the time it takes to kill mithra.

Also, if you don't have many RDMs, it would be advisable to use Utsusemi before you set yourself to level one. Also, Hundred Fists is pretty handy on this bitch ;p. It just requires team effort. It's more fun with lots of people, too. We had an alliance going that traveled to each region's Mithra and beat the crap out of her. {fun} + {excitement}
Also, a BLU's Diamondhide really helps out, if you can get it.

RDM/SAM is good too,+3 GK skill for extra acc.
Use Hasso before recieving the cap for 5 min of +10% Haste on top of Haste spell, and +10 acc.
