They weren't going to change Summoner till they rebalanced the classes. That is why it wasn't in the update. It should happen about the same time as PvP comes out.

I avoided Qufim completely, that place is a hell hole - there are many MUCH better places to go level from 18-23, when I went to Kaz.

Anyway, last night I leveled my SMN from 26-29, in Yuhtunga, raking in about 4k exp per hour. Group was SMN/WHM, PLD/WAR, RDM/WHM, BLM/WHM, THF/WAR, DRG/WAR - sick sick exp. I was the healer, but with bubble chocolate and pineapple juice, I never had an mp problem, not even with keeping Garuda out ever 45 seconds for group blink. No downtime whatsoever.

Later on, a few people had to leave (all put me on friends list, hehe) and we then had SMN/WHM, PLD/WAR, BLM/WHM, THF/WAR, WHM/BLM (ah, nice, dedicated healer) and BRD/WHM (woo!).

No longer a need for pineapple juice, and with a WHM in the group for barfira and heals, I was abble to effectively swap between Party Blink and Party Ice Spikes - I felt it was necessary, cause we didn't have as much melee as before. Again, 4k exp/hour.

I'd love to keep my avatar out and fighting (sometimes I did pull our Ifrit, just to help kill a level 6 exp chain mob quicker) but keeping those two spells up were much more important. Maybe if avatars didn't cost anything to keep out, or if I could sit while they were, it would be doable.

I know it's not the same as updating the summoner job itself, but it looks like some of the armor you can get in Dynamis reduces the cost of leaving your avatars out. Of course it's lv 75 armor but still sad.gif

Well, that's the annoying aspect of it - sucks having to wait till we're 75 to have useful equipment.

Exactly O_o It's like, "Yay, now I have this equipment to wear... while I run around... capped at lv 75..."

Why dont you take along a Few Yagudo Drinks Along with you to help with your mp gain? they last for a while and they recover 3 mp every few seconds...its like a fountain of magic ^^;

Heh, coolest looking doesn't help a party much when it comes to being useful =P It's not a "couple" problems - for the amount of effort you put in the job, you should at least have a job that is as useful as another ADV job - right now it's not.

I suck down pineapple juice like they're going out of style, and even with making them myself, they're expensive for that much consumption. i don't even want to think about Yagudo drinks, unless I'm fighting a BCNM, or the equivalent. Problem is, I thinnk I need 60 in cooking to make them anyway, I only have 30, and you need to be able to make them on the fly in order to use them in an exp party - they don't stack.

The problem with Summoner is people expect them to keep group Blink and such going. This is a huge waste of MP in most groups. If you have a decent enough tank then spending all that MP is a waste until you are a high enough level where it saves over 100MP in damage to the tank.

Group blink does help the tanks - but it is more important for the other melee dmg dealers and casters. You save mp by not having to heal them - and they would be taking a lot more damage than the tank. Get it?

ack you guys wouldnt understand the problems of a 50+ level summoner. 50+ requires a red mage or bard regardless, leaving slots in partys for white mage,red mage,black mage and highest of invites at 50+ THE BARD, Summoners are basically useless from 60-70. blink not really effective, hastega not really effective, stoneskin still effective, using Sub to heal- A lot worse cause damage increases and smaller heals suck, summoner has no problems below 40, beyond is the problem
