I know i just posted this one anothet thread but im gonna be lvling war/mnk as tank only shortly......just wondering people opinions on this and if anyone has recently tryed this out and the outcome....personally i just love to tank got my nin at 75 but wanted to try something old school so want to give war/mnk a shot

War/Mnk offers limited tanking capabilities. You can wield one weapon, defense is lacking, agility is lacking, and provoke is your main source of enmity.
You must have been pretty buzzed to have concieved this idea.

U can use axe/sheild or GA hell ive seen a war/mnk tank genbu and not loose hate but then again lots of things can tank genbu lol but war/mnk was a tank they have more base hp then pallys with a potential to dish out damage....although the one thing that would suck to tank when lvling as a war/mnk would be birds cause no food....the reason i made this thread was to get peoples opinions though so just stating reasons why i thought of it plus u get counter dodge defender focus aggressor all in due time

Yes, and no MP pool. If a WAR is popping Defender, using Shield, and single wielding, I doubt they will be able to deal even substantial or more damage than a PLD.

although the one thing that would suck to tank when lvling as a war/mnk would be birds cause no food....

A WAR tank would probably be able to hold hate better with /nin, using ATK food and trading hate with real tanks.

WAR counter rate is halved with /mnk sub. WAR can't use CCs, Avenger Earrings, or Kampher gears. Counter cannot be utilized well on WAR/MNK.

How do ACC boosts aid in tanking? Dodge? If you want to evade, sub Ninja.

Acc boost helps acc to hit and do dmg to hold hate and i would still sub ws gear as well and as for trading hate with other tanks the whole point of me doing this is to be the only tank.......hell in a burn party hate bounces like crazy between everyone who is /nin or a nin i have a warrior on fairy that is 75 and /nin ive been there done that so for this character i wanted to try something thats not usual i mean nowadays everyone expects certain jobs to do certain things and if u dont do it people are like wtf? i understand this all but it still wont stop me from trying it.......i mean before nins when warriors were tanks they had to do it without nin sub....hell look at most of wars af it was meant to tank in i mean that body piece is real nice to tank in when u can wear it and something like unicorn body at 75 is pretty good too.....warriors might lack mp but as long as they are wearing high def gear along with vit and - physical dmg they arent going to get hit that hard and as long as the mob is only focusing on them then mp wont be wasted curing others...... i know for this to even work right i have to gear myself right which is what i also want peoples opinions on because gear with make or break this setup because im confident in my tanking abilities

dont listen to him, T WAR/MNK can be done and very easy and its good DD and holds hate well.

only thing in your way will be other people.

what you will need it gear to support this task. and i'd suggest saying with GA, over swd/shld axe/shld. i have seen and know a person that has done this to 10-74 or 75. He is/was damn good at it at 74 or 75 he opened nin when he wanted to do merit PTs.

War/Mnk i know 100% will work in old areas but new ToA areas the mobs MAY rip you apart. but heh try and see. jus be rdy to make alot of your on PT's

P.S. plz stop w/ the stats VS stats BS is always fails outside of the game. gotta do it VS mobs

Please, think back to before RoZ came out:

The level cap was 50. Almost anything could be blood tanked effectively.

Do you know what a PLD/MNK with no MP pool, 4% counter rate, and less-than-stellar defensives and damage dealing capabilities is?

ANSWER: A WAR/MNK in tanking gear.

you know what a elvaan mnk/war 50/25 and my hume war/mnk 50/09 (H2H Onry)have in comon in ballista match 4/3 him. good fun and war can do alot even w/def gear on.

war/mnk GA only 50/50 attack/def gear, no -def gear and depending on mob, Def food or Sushi or meat.

the only areas i dont see him doing well in ToA areas. Blink tanks have always been better and ToA really makes use of that. those mobs are mean 50-67.

Good luck seeking pt, I know if I see war/mnk seeking any lvl I lol and move down the list. Make sure your rank is lvl 1 so people think you are a complete noob and might take pity and invite you to their pt.

(hmmm) ur a 75 nin war and rng.. well i guess even you would call a pld/nin at 58 a noobs as well,but i'm postive that he could out DD you at that lvl if you were in the same pt with him. but hey skip over it. you really show that your only knowledge is from fourms and what other people tell you to do with your game.

As for war/nin, i have a character on fairy thats 75 war/nin so i did that already and i did enjoy it yes and when i get my war to 75 on caitsith i will be going /nin to merit but in the future i plan on attempting to tank gods and such was war/mnk it has been done lately and i have seen it done but in order to do this i need good healers just as much as i need to be a good tank. I should be able to get around 2k hp with hp gear on my war/mnk. Having that much hp would be nice and at 75 can do chakra which would be a nice little heal because im not positivie but i believe its vit based no? if so then i should get a good amount back for it. Basically i am just doing it to experiment and i just wanna have fun with it thats all ^^ theres other jobs that i want to lvl as well well see as for now im just meriting nin a lot

First off, Yes, Chakra is VIT based. Solely VIT.

Secondly, WAR/MNK is a viable Tanking option. since you are a tank and have 75 jobs, You would want to consider meriting Enmity+, as this will make your job easier. Also, WAR/PLD, with great gear, Is one of the best Tanks in the game. Futceez(sp) has a very well geared WAR/PLD and from what I have heard and seen takes very minimal damage. Theres many more options then just the /NIN sub. Don't just jump on the bandwagon if you are interested in trying other things out.

So what did we learn today?

WAR/NIN for meripo.
WAR/PLD Is a great tanking option if you have the gear for it.
WAR/MNK has the HP to take hits, and if focused on VIT, can take lower amounts of damage, but also is pending on gear.

And that dick from another server has no understanding of end game mechanics. Just a douche.
