Suggestion to save crafting

Hello

So i've noticed that most items put on the AH and bought will in time be returned back to the AH, no doubt about that.

My recent encounter was crafting a bundle of Black Feet, I saw none on AH and none sold for a while so I decided to put another bundle up on the market, boom! 4 Black Feet was returned, massive undercutting ect... No doubt most crafters encouter the same "smack in the face"

So here is my suggestion to avoid that:

A "Diablo" type synthesis recipies or NPC quest.
The Prefix and Suffix system. Where you have a ton of "enhancements" dropped from mobs and/or crafted. For example, Gem of the Whale +100 HP, Eagle lumber Acc +10. Trade these two items to NPC along with Hauberk and you are returned: "Eagle Hauberk of the Whale".
This way players can be more uniqe and and choose what types of weapons they want to wield and armors to wear. However that Hauberk would now become Exlusive :ex

And there would be hundreds of different enhancements, and you can choose your combo. Some enhancements would be very good and some not so good. And they can be traded/sold on AH. And you can replace enhancements on the same item by doing the same as before.

Using this system would ensure that most items would not be returned on AH and that those consumers would not be pissed off for beeing screwed once buying an expensive piece of equipment.

So that's my suggestion on saving crafting :blush comments?

I don't see anything wrong with crafting...some stuff just don't sell cause it's useless. Trying to sell something useless is like having world peace...not going to happen for a looong time.

this is not about making money today, in one year 1500 new Haubergeons are made and put in the market with the demand today, every one wants a hauby for their melee job. In one year I would assume there has been made a total 3000 haubergeons on my server. On my server there are about 10.000 people and 20.000 mules. In one years time 1/3 should each own a Haubergeon.

When 3/4 Haubys sold today are "returns" from other characters, I would think in time, there would be no longer a demand for new Haubergeons put up on the market. Unless, players would enchant their haubergeons making them :ex

I like the idea. Havent played any other MMORPGs so not sure if its the norm in other games, but I know I would like to have more unique items. It would be a nice addition if they could somehow incorporate this with the wings of the goddess expansion where only monsters in the past could drop these abjurations. And at the same time get rid of some of surplus. I would say the NM dropped abjurations would need to be EX so to not open a whole new market for the GS to monopolize.

I'd have to agree with the opening post something does need to be done to stop the game item banks from becoming overly full with the same items to maintain some sort of price.
The end result will be nothing on AH will be worth anything with the current system unless new items are introduced tho that will do nothing for the already tons of items available. 4 things i can think of off hand have been seen in other games.

1. Item deterioration items have so many HP ?/? before becoming broken and obsolete also creating another market for broken or needing of repair items for crafters.

2. GM intervention where by a game rep. would keep the number of items of each type in existance at a reasonable rate by buying items from the AH and destroying them.

3. NPC quests that invole them making purchace of items at AH price upgrading the NPC's attire also removing from the general population mass numbers of items. (Controlable by using mean/median price of entire price history kinda like the FFAH site and by progressive levels of said quest where they start wanting leather and so on upwards.)

4. Increase desynth success rate / results so that more crafters are inclined to chance desyth of NQ items increasing the loss overall but increasing the HQ number keeping items number slowed down and higher quality items flowing faster due to lack of NQ to buy from crafters buying for desynth and so on.

I'm sure lots of other idea's that would help crafting abound deffinitly a post worthy of construction and interest by SquareEnix

(Yes I know the thought of item destruction sucks but it has worked somewhat in other games but I wouldnt be overly happy with the idea here either)

so I decided to put another bundle up on the market, boom! 4 Black Feet was returned, massive undercutting ect...

If you put four of them up, of course people will undercut. Just put one at a time up, then RAISE the price. There were 7 Luisant Hauberts on ah 3 days ago. People dropped from 850 (last sale by me) to 600k in a day. I waited til all were gone, put mine up and got 750. But i didnt put them all up at once.

:wall ofc I did'nt put them all on at once, the "four" is refered to the other feet that is not mine that is currently on AH...

And the discussion is about how the market can be saved by preventing returns and save crafting from the direction it is heading now. Please read my second post

That's nice. But last year a new expansion came out with new gear, and everyone jumped on that. And this year even more new stuff.

I would say optional enchantment to make somethign ex would be cool, but mandatory is a nono.

You can hate WoW all you want, but that is a good idea to keep the current AH & crafting systems working. And hey, if I'll pay 1mil just to get a white box around a 30k item, don't you think I'll spend a few more to add 5STR to it?

Wbile it does make some sense, SE would need to make a shitload of new item .DATs and crap, which I doubt they'll do.

While I do agree some crafts are dying I also agree with SE's decision not to jump on it in order to prevent RMT from taking advantage of them like they are with some crafts (WW and Cooking for example).
