so yesterday i finally got around to duoing temenos east with a friend. we got pretty lucky on our boxes, we mainly went time boxes, but popped two item boxes and didn't get any avatars. so anyway, how do you guys deal with the dark elementals? we ended up binding one, gravitying both, and moving the one we were fighting far away, but bind continued to wear, and we pretty much got our asses handed to us. anyone have any suggestions? aside from "bring a brd lolz."

Better advice than bringing a brd is popping less time chests and more item chests, so you don't have to deal with the darks. 2nd and 6th floor are both a good chance at blm item.

I'd back up what Lucy said. I doubt that it'd be possible to duo the two dark eles at the end, just because of their heavy resist to sleep. As you found, bind will wear off at increasing amounts, as will gravity, thus rendering any attempt at prolonging it's attacks for more than 3-4 minutes at best.
One way I could see it being possible is out right zerging the first one (with one BLM 2 houring) and then the second black mage (the person who didn't 2hr the first time) semi-kiting it, while the other BLM rests. Kiting it in a circle around the posts should be ok when you toss a few stuns and binds when needed. Try to save gravity for when the 2nd BLM joins the fray and both are nuking continually.

heavy resist? my point of view is that they are immune.

we got the silk on the first floor for my duo partner(i have one already, need yarn), and just popped whatever chest dropped off the first ele on the rest. whenever it was an item chest, we got lucky and got ABCs. didn't get to a single avatar, so we ended up on the dark ele floor and got raped.

If you don't want the chip just learn what floors drop the items you want and focus on those. Get time or items on other floors to make sure you have more time on the good ones, as much as randomness allows. I don't see it being easy to kill the dark eles. Soloing one each with bind/gravity won't work because you can't aspir and you'll run out of MP really early, even with 2hr I don't think you can go the distance. Teaming up on one might work, while holding the other off with bind, but after killing you'd need to die and reraise to get some space to gather MP. So unless you can get a BRD to sleep them just stay clear I think.

the chip isn't a huge deal, just we got to the floor and ended up getting pwned, so i was seeing how everyone else did it.

I'm sure you can duo the dark elementals, because I'm pretty sure I could solo one. Two of them, two of you, plenty of room to run. Learn their timing, and make sure you're not in the middle of a nuke when they are about to cast something, because sleepga can ruin your day. Your biggest problem would be fenrir if you got him from the chest. You could probably take him out with DoT, bind, luck, and a lot of reraises, but he's not worth going after if you don't want the chip.
If you're after coins go for kings route, as a duo you should be able to pull in 30 or so on average. East is the route to do if you're after temenos blm item.
One thing I've wanted to try is a -ga run in east with 3-4 blms and a rdm/blm. I've done earth and ice floors with a timed -ga > sleepga > aspir > rest > repeat, and it worked out pretty well. I could see beating the zone with 5 people taking only 2 time chests. The toughest part would be the grouping of mobs on some floors, especially the thunder and fire.
