This is kind of a silly question for a bunch of reasons, but, thought I'd ask anyway.

I'm raising my first chocobo, going for a hot&cold/digger choco so he has high discernment and receptivity. He's the quest egg so he's yellow, first generation, blah blah blah.

At a later date I plan to breed a coloured digger, but until then I plan to use this little guy to play hot & cold and raise my digging skill. I've taught him Treasure Hunter, and I have the story for Burrow, and I'm just waiting for that danged little taru to turn up a few more times on our long walk to get the story for Bore.

Been looking at the digging charts on ffxi wiki for a while and a few other things, and I'm still indecisive, so, here's the questions:

1. Should I teach him Burrow or Bore, given he's my first choco and I'm relatively new to digging?

2. Has anyone noticed how Burrow / Bore affects digging in Hot & Cold, and does one affect it significantly more than the other?

3. My choco is at Outstanding discernment - if I plan to breed another eventually, is it worthwhile taking him to first class discernment before starting the new choco, or, should I just leave him as is and breed a new one right away?

I am terminally indecisive and am more looking for a few second opinions. I have far too much fun running around on that yellow bird.

One lets you dig up more items, the other makes it so you dig up less items (Burrow lets you find items that you wouldn't normally find, and Bore makes it so you don't find the really common items that are usually just junk anyway.)

Personally, I'd take Burrow over Bore, but that's just me. I have both on my Blue Chocobo though, and I use a separate ghetto yellow bird for Treasure Finder and the Hot & Cold game.

I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with the abilities, but when I played hot and cold with my yellow bird (autoregen and gallop I think), it took 3-6 digs to get to the chest. It was different everytime. When I play with my green one (bore and treasure finder) it always takes 4. This might be because I play alot in buburimu, but I don't know.
