I did a search and didn't find an accomplishment thread for the PUP forums so I decided to go ahead and make one!

Post your latest and greatest accomplishments as PUP! Kill a hard NM? Won a good ENM attachment? Got a nice piece of gear? Post it here! I'll post some things that I'm pretty proud of.

This was a while ago but I was able to take down Dark Spark at lv62. I was PUP/NIN with Harlequin Frame and Valoredge Head. He and I share tanked the thing because I was afraid I might get hit too hard. We did a good job and I was able to kill him without much trouble. It was simple to keep Utsusemi Up and when it was down, he hit fairly hard(for like 150s).

Next, I soloed almost every single eye for O-hat(with the exception of the ones in Den of Rancor) at lv66. I was PUP/NIN for the majority of them and used full Stormwaker to silence the mob. Learned the hard way that Silence needs to constantly stay on them or they -ga you and kill you and your Auto pretty quickly lol.

Heres something I just did today: killed Death from Above at 66. He attacks insanely fast(he literally has no delay) and hit me for about 80-100 points of damage. He did miss a lot and with Flash from my Auto, I was able to reapply Utsusemi. Was a pretty tough battle but in the end, I was victorious!

Finally capped my Stormwaker's magic skill after a billion rounds of Besieged. Still working on Dragon Kick. Obtained Goliard shoes for PUP/WHM (actually it was for RDM but, uh...yeah.)

Super exciting stuff, I know.

Pamama and I solo'd Adamantoise in Valley of Sorrows a few weeks ago. For those of you that don't know, he is the NQ version of the ground king Aspidochelone.

It was thought that he was unsoloable and was only able to be duo'd by a NIN and RDM, but PUP can solo him pretty easily. PUP/NIN in mixed gear (all evasion and all acc didn't work too well). Optical hat for evasion/accuracy, Pahluwan body (Aketon for Utsusemi casting), Swift belt and Boxer's mantle are the important pieces. He attacks slow and isn't very accurate. Most of the time I didn't even need Utsusemi: Ichi. The fight took a bit, a good 15-20 minutes but it required very little effort.

The only hard part was actually pulling him without getting adds. I'd say 50% of the time I spent there was making sure I could clean pull him, then drag him out of his area without getting drawn-in. My LS is end-game so I don't get to use my PUP for anything in LS event with the exception of sky or sea farm, but I showed them I'm not enirely useless on that job.

Bambino and I had so many tough fights, there's way too many to list. I managed to solo VT Automatons in Mount Zhayolm. Alot of fun and really easy. Any form is easy to kill. Just know that the puppets are no different from yours, except that fact that the Stormwaker can use en-spells while yours cant. But yea, they are easy, they never double attack. Just be careful, a few hits can really do you in. They hit hard because they're VT.

On another note, I managed to solo all the Sahagin NM's in Sea Serpent Grotto (with adds). It was alot of fun. Really sucked that I died omw out though. I saw a coffer and decided to farm a key for the map. I pulled a sahagin and linked about 5. Normally I would be ok, but I got unlucky and they took me out after I killed 3 of them. Bambino was using Mana Converter then they hit him twice and he died. Boom Bam Wam SPLAT! The taru at the dust.

As for the ENM, I'm 2/5. I died for dumb reasons Got cocky a few times and then Raging Fists set me straight. One time I went in with Bambino out, and activation timer reset. I was royaly mad at myself. Think I was tired that day.

But yea I'm wacky and love it!

Not to call you a liar but I am really curious how you managed to solo the VT statues and then both Ulli and Zipacna, both of whom even RDMS have trouble soloing. Do tell your strat and gear setup. XD

Aye, I killed Novv the Whitehearted awhile back as PUP. Fortunately nothing linked because I went into the tunnel a little bit, however I did get really scared every time the slime seemed to get close.

Save me the trouble and go try it yourself. It's mostly common knowledge. And Deploy doesn't removed invisible fyi (however, retrieve does.)

Indulge. I do not solo enough as PUP but from what I do know of our abilities as soloers and from duoing/trioing both NMs as BLM, I find it hard to believe we can survive the AOEs and attacks (especially the stuns) from these bad boys. Again, explain how you do it.

283 Evasion Skill, +25 Evasion bonus from gear, +30 Evasion bonus from traits, Flashbulb, Blind spell, Slow spell, Bio II spell, Cure IV, Utsusemi: Ichi, Utsusemi: Ni, Aero III, 1319 HP and Sole Sushi. That's how. Surprised at all? If you're 75 PUP and don't know how to solo, you need to get out more.


Also, soloing as mage and soloing as melee are two completely different forms of tactics. Sleep/Nuking, gravity-ing, or binding something is absolutely nothing like using actual evasion-based defenses and survivability without needing your own MP to eventually win.


Lastly, AoE means minor damage and removes shadows, not instant death. Save your Flashbulb if you foresee an AoE coming, or simply start casting Utsusemi: Ichi when the AoE is being casted or otherwise readied, it should go after right after Shadows are removed. But usually the foe will miss you because of your evasion and its blindness anyways, so keeping shadows up isn't really a problem. However, if you do get hit, wait until its next swing and start casting your Utsusemi, slow will let you get off Ichi easily on Statues because they are inaccurate and swing slow, and your Automaton will Cure IV you if your HP falls below the trigger percentage.

The only thing I have problem with, is the stun from Thunder Break, which sometimes lasts a long time, but between my Automaton casting Cure IV and my emergency Automaton oils and Role Reversal, I haven't died thus far.


I'm hoping for a stun attachment so I can start soloing Olla and Steam Cleaner. -Aga Black magic is just too much for PUP right now.

Fast Cast gear helps a lot. I have Rostrum Pumps and Loq. Earring macro'd into my Utsusemi macros for two tiers of Fast Cast, and it helps more than you'd think.

Can silence be stuck on them? I know when I was soloing my eyes for Hakutaku Cluster, keeping silence on them was a must because the AoE was powerful. I know silence won't last long against something like that probably though >_>

Unfortunately, Pots have a magic barrier ability, so Silence wouldn't really be reliable. Besides, I'm afraid to try it anyway. Silence seems really inaccurate for Stormwaker for some reason. D:

Also, I call bullshit.

Ulli and zip both have massive TP regen (though ulli just spams lolheavystrike).

80% of zipacna's TP's will be AoE that strip shadows. His TP regen is high enough that he can get one off every, say, 10ish seconds with no damage (this is an estimate, i've never consistently tanked him when soloing/duoing him on rdm/nin long enough to test)

Even assuming your automaton could keep up with the AoE damage through cures, it'd be hard pressed to keep you alive when you're taking 200+ damage melee swings with occasional double attack.

Fact being, zipacna can drop you from full HP in the time it takes thunder break stun to wear off (Last one I survived I lived by about 100 hp, with -30% physical and a capped stoneskin before he used it.)

Bulllllllllshit.

I'll believe it when I see some damn proof.

P.S. Your definitely over-exaggerating their TP regen. Try fighting it when you don't have multiple people without Subtle Blow feeding it TP.

I call BS because i've soloed both. Like I said, I don't really have an accurate measurement for how often zip TP's. It's damn often though.

But untill I see you soloing zipacna, I don't believe it.

Ulli is very possibly though, he stops to spam gimpy magic and spams that panzy 1-hit TP that's basically harmless. Even if he becomes an actual threat he stops so often you can kite him for a good minute+ untouched.

Bullshit on you solo'ing Zip as a PUP/NIN. PUP is a decent solo job, not Jesus.

You can't flash Zip's AoE beyond pure luck. On top of that, one of his AoE is a pretty potent stun. You still have no where near as much evasion as a thf and they even have trouble holding mobs like Zip. And on top of that, when he does hit you it's doing 400+ damage. Let's not even count the fact that he hits relatively fast even with slow up by itself, and one of his TP moves besides the AoE byspasses shadows for 200-400 damage.

You're not flashing all of his WS, and any that you do manage to flash would be by pure luck and even then I don't think flash would effect those WS much. I've had plenty of NMs flashed and stuff and have rarely had a WS fully miss me. Especially from an NM 5+ levels over me.

But, by your logic of solo'ing Zip, you should be able to solo an exp mob. It should be NP to solo a mamool lurker or something. Hell, you can solo Ulli so it should be NP to solo a mamool bluester. You should download fraps from a torrent and take some videos.

But then again, my thf does 4k dancing edges to colibri. Video(or multiple pictures) or it didn't happen.

And his TP regen overrated? I guess him usually being able to get off a crystal rain as soon as he's pulled is a bit overrated, maybe not I guess.

I would also like to see if a Pup can solo Zip. I watched a Rdm/nin solo it and it looks almost possible a Pup can if the Auto can withstand the AOE's and our Eva holds up well enough so we can get up Ichi. I haven't tried it yet but I really was racking my brain to come up with something. Role Reversal has really made a difference for me in things that can be soloed.

I'm not going to say that I completely believe you Auraeon but I won't call it BS yet. Please provide a video if you can. I would love to see it.
