In regards to the comet thing, you can see a huge comet in the sky in a lot of parts of the WotG trailer. It appears to be the same comet and looks to be travelling on a direct course for Jeuno/Qufim. I think SE may pull out a FFVII-esque plotline where the beastmen (or maybe the Shadowlord himself) summons a Meteor to destroy the backbone-nation of the Alliance: Jeuno. Maybe somehow the people of that time managed to divert its course just enough to send it to where the crater is now. Or maybe SL just has low acc tongue.gif

(Possibly a spoiler but nothing too serious!)

That 'comet' is actually the remenants of a celestial storm, occuring just before the start of the Crystal era. It's believed to be the work of the Goddess, but is actually a phenomina caused in the aftermath of 'Ragnarok,' or a battle between gods.

At the end of the newest trailer it says something 'Can it be? Atmos" and it shows a glowing portal (in the sky?)

The Luck Rune quest is from the girl in Mhaura, she tells you a color that is lucky and your partner must have a certain title. Mine was black for the color and the title must be Lost Child Officer, which I researched to find the quest in Sandy for the boy and the fishing rod. After all that, I went to the Luck Rune and got a Dark Cluster. Not sure of any other prizes. The Strange Apparatus is a Mini-Quest and is listed in detail on Somepage and ffxiclopedia. Link to it here: Strange Apparatus it is a great one, and I do them all the time smile.gif Many prizes from Cermet chunks to Arcane Flowerpots and Rune weapons.

yah, normal strange Apparatus give you items like. Rune Blade, Rune arrow, Rune Halberd, The Flowerpot thing, Cermet Ingot things, etc.
But the broken ones are the mystery!

Are they there as simple Story devices to evoke questions of what happened? Like how Fei'Yen is a pile of Rubble Shit.
Or the one in Ranguemont pass? Why is it even there, and why is IT broken? was it from the Explosion in delkfutt. if so, why are the others intact?
And why are the broken ones so close to Castle Zvahl? Seems odly coincidental i'd say.

Its my belief that SE Put these broken objects in place to make players wonder how they broke, causing them to actually look up other players speculation, or even facts from a reliable source. To get a player more involved in the story, or to make the world seem more realistic.

also brings to question why they refer to you(After Entering your password) as a Doctor? Where these machines some kind of retrieval devices for Doctors of the past? maybe a storage place, or.. thinking about maybe they learned to create these machines to forge items like the crystals? Since you must combine 2 items (The item of a Living Statue, and a Chip from goblins) to create an item.

you can tell by the animation (shows like an orb dropping into the pool of water, then you receive your item).
Maybe the Apparatuses are giant Machines harnessing the crystals power to forge items for the Zilart!

This could be possible considering the items you can receive. Cerment, Crystals themselves, Weapons, or the pot(out of place much?)
And thinking moreso, how is it bastok is renouned for discovering Cerment, when the Zilart seem to use it for almost every structure?
..At least i remember reading somewhere that Cid discovered Cerment. i could be sadly mistaken

No ones going to read this entire post. but man when my idea train goes its hard to stop. Hope some of this makes enough sense to one person they can translate it to everyone

Future job Doctor? Chemist? Alchemist (prolly not this one lol) Or something ghetto maybe, Mixer XD)
We do have a few doctors in the game, people did mention how they'd like to have a WHM that uses no MP (not like Dancer) but uses potions and mixes them and stuff since no one ever uses them.

I did always wonder why there were so many Medicines in the game yet I hardly ever see anyone use more than just a few.

Because they dont stack to 99.
They are expensive (relatively).
Because they aren't easy to make (not like lv.1 alch or anything).

It came down to two reasons if I remember from an old forum post here on KI:
1.) An economic one.
2.) A White Mage issue.

Reason 1:
like other Final Fantasy games where you can simply buy potions for cheap or find them in Treasure Chests and use at any time.

If there ever was a Chemist job, it would probably help drive costs down or do the opposite-- drive costs up. "C'est depends." (It depends.) Alchemists are the primary crafters of all medicines in the FFXI market. Unfortunately, because they aren't used often or regularly like other Final Fantasy series, they aren't bought often. Therefore, Alchemists will not craft the more expensive ones often, only the more common ones like Prism Powders and the like.

To me, personally, the medicines and their usefulness is entirely broken and out of canon with the Final Fantasy series. Players should be allowed to purchase these cheaply with the exception of Elixirs and high potency medicines. They should at least bring in a Chemist job to help the Alchemists make money, because in some way I believe it will use medicines or similar that Alchemists can craft and sell to make money from. It should work similarly to Ninjitsu tools whereby money can be made from making the ingredients/tools/medicines used by a Chemist's job.

    That's my opinion anyway.

Reason 2:
I believe one of the old arguments was that the over-use of medicines would make a White Mage's job or any other healer job almost non-existent. However, my jab at that argument is this: Medicines are not stackable except for a very few and going with Reason #1 above, they're too costly to be used in a normal party.

Much of the crying and arguments came from White Mages primarily. Unfortunately, that thread is long gone. But, if medicines were stackable and affordable at the same time, then it would not put much need on a White Mage. In merit parties later on, if such were to happen and everyone used potions and other medicines, a Red Mage or White Mage wouldn't be needed much except for emergency Cures and Raises.

That's my "2 cents" on that, however.

Iv got something iv always wondered about that i hope wotg explains. Where do the kindred "demons" come from, its said they first appeared when the shadow lord did and disappeared when he was first killed. They then reappeared when he was reborn but now that hes totally gone there still here. Theres also another quest for the Moblin th at says that kindred don't worship Promathia. This leads me to believe theres something darker then Promathia that also turned Raogrimm into the shadow lord.

That's a good question.

I believe that in the ever-evolving storyline of FFXI that the main story isn't complete at all. Sure, we've had the first storyline up to Nation Rank 5-2 then Zilart, Promathia, Aht Urghan, and now Wings of the Goddess, but ever thought to yourself: "Hmm, could there be something beneath them all that linked them together? A more sinister evil perhaps?"

At first when I heard about WotG and the Maws and Atomos, I suggested that probably there could be someone else behind everything that has happened in Vana'diel.

If the Kindred don't worship Promathia, then who do they follow? Is there an actual leader or origin for the Kindred Demons other than the Shadowlord?

It's interesting to think about. I'm sure there are probably other things that won't be answered anytime soon.

Star of Tavnazia in Ulegraund Range. Do that mission Cutscene again and you will see some of the answers. I have a feeling we'll get more exposure to that aspect of the story in WotG though.

It's Cait Sith. She's evil I tells ya!
She wants to find the crystal warriors (that's us, right) in the past. Why? To stop us stopping her in the future/present!

Or maybe she's good and I just want to kill her for looking so damn freaky. Who knows!

I'm hoping for a FF1 story line. Heck, we already have time travel!
4 remade "Four Fiends" would be total butt-kickary, too~

If that is the case, Chaos would be the final boss. Which fits IMO.
So far all the bosses have been fanatics (Zilart) or the "mighty gods" from the intro. Nothing about this "Darkness" which the crystal banished.

If Square-Enix just rehashes the Final Fantasy 1 story for Wings of the Goddess, it would be lame. The whole point of the series is that we only see that story line 1 time.

Well my long explaination got lost in a freak cut-and-paste incident, so you get the short version instead:

A travelling merchant brings Cid a piece of magicite taken from the Eye of Altana in Tavnazia, claiming that the Eye was found in the northlands. Cid petitions the president of bastok to form a northlands expedition and other nations get involved. The expedition begins, and the magicite disappears implying one of the expedition members had taken it, most likely Ulrich. The dark magicite influences Ulrich to try to murder Raogrimm and become apathetic of murdering Cornelia. The Dark Magicite was discarded and later found by Raogrimm, feeds off of his rage and persuades him to travel to an immense crystal of darkness farther north, which turns out to be the Dark Protocrystal housing Odin in slumber. Raogrimm enters Odin's dream, Odin makes a pact with Raogrimm to give him power and an army of kindred to take revenge on the nations of altana for his loss. In return Raogrimm, now the Shadow Lord, obtains the means to reawaken Odin by abducting Emeline from Tavnazia during the invasion and taking her to the dark protocrystal to sing the Memoria de l'Stona. Odin travels to Arajidah to find a vessel suitable to become the Dark Rider for bringing about the Age of Judgement (Odin sure likes to negotiate!), while the Shadow Lord loses the Crystal War. 20 years later, during an effort to stop Promathia from resurging into Vana'diel, Prishe and companions discover that the Dark Protocrystal no longer exists but find a long-lost piece of the Star of Tavnazia, the dark magicite piece Raogrimm brought there 30 years before.

Sources: Aht urghan storyline regarding imps, PM 5-3 (All path cutscenes + Cids's commentary.) There's one discrepancy about a Mithra (Rabritah?) bringing a piece of dark magicite back to the mithran homeland, only to have sin hunters insist it be taken far away from them. I haven't logically figured out where this fits in yet. But anyways, Ulmia's path brings about the misconception it's supposed to be the magicite, but Louverance's path and his use of the Mimeo Mirror on Mathilde confirms there was a dark protocrystal up there and that Odin is most assuredly awake.
