So last week, I won my server's first race when the server's first came back up. It was an all player race too, which made me really excited about it. I was relatively dismayed however, when I found out you could only race once per week IRL time. :/ But that didn't deter me until last night...

I entered my weekly race, and since you can only do it weekly, it was me vs. all mediocre NPC Chocobo's... I didn't care too much at first, but meh. The race begins, and each and every Chocobo used their projectiles on me, even when I WASN'T in first place. I got hit with x2 Fire Biscuits and x1 Pepper Biscuit, as well as having Gysahl Bombs spammed all around... By the time I used my Speed Apple, it was literally laughable and pointless...

I spent MONTHS raising my Chocobo, it has First Class Strength, Impressive Endurance, Average Discernment but Poor Receptivity. It's abilities are Gallop and Canter.

It's really nice to know that it only took three NPC's ganging up on me with cheesy items was enough to unravel months and months of work and gil spent. Thank Squenix. t('-')

I raced for the 2nd time, my bird being 8/7/6/2 (STR/END/DIS/REC). It's pretty close tbh...but I've bet on a lot of races (small bets, but thats not important). C4 Birds, even C3 birds, you start seeing the pattern of what types of stats birds are etc. Today I raced with a friend of mine, and it was C4. Took a look at the stats...I was shocked. I thought i was in a C2 race. 2/1/8/7 (never once did I see a bird with first class), 6/4/6/4, 7/5/3/5...I was scared lol. In the end I was able to pull the victory, my bird started slow, avoided a pepper biscuit, recovered easily from gyshal bomb and rain trip. Keep Pace + Speed Apple ftw. My friend got 6th :...he was 8/8/1/1.

I have a terrible feeling that the ranks get harder within the same rank the more you race. My god I hope not ><.

PS: Idk if anyone has checked, but C3 rank prize gil for 1st place is 50000G o.o

Yeah, these races seem SERIOUSLY rigged... SE needs to adjust the AI in them, bad! As it stands, it's the 7 npcs vs You.

I don't know, I think I'll disagree here. If your bird is way out in front during "Keep Pace" item portion of the race, well guess what your the target of most attacks. But if you're not in the front, NPC birds probably wont attack you. I remember in the past the supposed best stats to have was STR/END/DIS...but clearly REC is now very important as well. If you're REC is high enough, doesn't matter if the NPC birds all attack you, you'll dodge most of it.

Keep in mind though, some races have NPC birds filled with offensive items, others have literally none. Racing your own bird still has a certain luck factor, but having the right stats still helps greatly on whether you'll win or not.

Something is clearly wrong... Everytime a player enteres a race the chocobos in it become way better
Example... Here is the C3 race right before my race... As you can see all the chocobos suck... Low stats..

If they want us to face harder chocobos... Then dont make us compete in C4 races.... Let us choose..
But to force us to fight thru C4 races with C2/3 chocobos in them is not right ><

But whats odd is that those birds above are at 20-21 total points on stats, and the max points is 22 (or 21, depending on the saddle a bird uses). If these are C4 birds, what are we to see on C1/C2 birds? Unless SE is gonna raise the stat cap, I don't see how much harder the birds will get from C4 to C1, which I guess is both good and bad...
