New Weaponskill?

I'm starting to think that Dancer actually has the ability to unlock other jobs abilities, or it would just be in the expansion.

I'm thinking that RDM gets that rose attack instead of Red Lotus Blade

PUP is getting that.... "Final Heaven" that everyone calls it, as a WSNM? (PUP is the only job without one...)

IDK about the G.Axe and G.Sword weaponskills that the other uses, so can't say anything about that.

I've read in a handful of places people mentioning how the WSs in the trailer look like relic WSs; others say these WSs might be the result of the Nyzul Isle weapons. Just an idea, could SE maybe be giving an alternate method to obtain the relic WSs? I mean, they come with the Relic Weapons, but the weapons themselves have attack or accuracy +20 as well as random double or triple damage. So speculatively, allowing players to obtain the WSs via another method, it wouldn't take away entirely from the Relic Weapons. My opinion is that that looked a lot like Final Heaven... and a lot like Metatron Torment... so maybe they are?

It sound like it could be quite a slap in the face to the people who obtained relic weapons, but that sounds like the kind of thing SE likes to do sometimes [thief's knife~]

Reasons why Dancer would need its own WSes if it main weapon is dagger:

Dagger is kind of stinky DOT wise for the job that has a A- in it(not saying who) just not that great.
Dagger has shitty WSes until SharkBite
Viperbite is good with SATA, but if you ever see a THF fail to land SATA...comes out to like 60 damage.
Look what happened to PUP....they gave them subpar H2H skill....if they do the same thing to dancer what is the point?

Solution: Give Dancer lots of multihit WSes, kind of like MNK(since it would fit the theme anyhow), while THF can just roll with the 1 and 2 hit WSes

ALSO! GIVE PUP A WSNM ALREADY! Not Asuran Fists, but maybe a strong 5 hitter with chance of critical.

Unfortunately there are key differences in the weaponskill animations which bar them from being relic weaponskills.

I don't have a relic ws myself, but I've heard many times that the ws's themselves aren't that overly powerful from what everyone else has access to. The weapons themselves, with the +20 acc/att, and the many hidden effects, is what makes the relics powerful.

Now, as far as the ws's in the trailer being nyzule weapons... those aren't the nyzule weapons. I guess it's not out of the question to assume that the weapons still can't play a role in obtaining the ws... but I'm really hoping against it. I can't get a group together to do nyzule isle for anything... let along getting to floor 100. Also, those aren't relic ws's either, except for maybe the one PUP used.

this doesn't particularly belong in one of the number of new WS threads, and I didn't want to create a new thread just for it, but I think it would be cool if they added whips as another weapon type for dancers. Not sure if whips are used commonly in the final fantasy series though. The last character that I can remember in (sort of) recent FF history that used whips was Quistis from FF8. Also the dancer in Ragnarok online can use a whip lol.

Just thought they'd have the kind of elegant form that would be fitting for a dancer. Single or dual dagger wielding I guess would fit well too. Anything that works with twirling I guess? lol

Yeah, I'd love to see whips, but I won't hold my breath. SE hasn't introduced a new weapon class in the 4 years I've been playing, so I don't expect anything like that will happen. It would be cool, though!

I mean... Who the hell wants to wear a corselet? Who? I have yet to see one since the time it was implemented, and it's been like 4 months or more.

It's also possible (just to thow my 2 gil in on the WS aspect) that SE might want to introduce a need/desire to use the other weaponskills in the new areas. The quadavs look like they're living beyond thunderdome and covered in better gear than most tanks I've had lately (same with the orcs.) And the Yagudo look like they're gonna be faster and more evasive. They could make it necessary to rely on the old-school killing method (ie. skillchains and magic bursts.) As for the animation changes, maybe they look different in the past (when the weaponskill was pure, and new-ish) and does more damage. Maybe now Rampage does more damage than, say, Mistral Axe. But maybe in the past Mistral Axe outdoes Rampage by extreme differences (while closing a hellacious lvl. 3 skillchain.) SE's always kinda disliked the abandonment of the holy skillchain it seems, they might be forcing a necessity in the past areas.

I honestly do not think that dancer is going to be a melee job. A trailer doesn't tell us anything about a job. In one of the last WoTG trailers they show a SMN with a scythe on their back. Does this mean they're not gonna use staves in the expansion and that we'll be getting scythes. Trailers are for showing off stuff. They need to be flashy. SE didn't want to give away the role of dancer just yet so they showed us some fancy WS shots.

Out of curiosity, why is there such heavy consensus on dancer doing good ws damage? Perhaps I missed out on some released info that points otherwise, but in the past, weren't dancers squishy?

Bard has what? Fast blade? Whm has seraph strike (low levels)? Perhaps dancer is just far less melee oriented and therefore these weapon skills for sure won't be low level. It seemed like I saw a lot of AF in the video (saw it a bit ago and there was no convenient link), so probably these would be at least 60+? The animations are all fairly pretty so my guess is 68+.

But as mentioned, people use so few of the gear options, JAs, foods, weaponskills, spells etc. I mean, even in the upper tier of armors you just don't see a lot of them like ever. I just hope that these weapon skills offer good damage or at least produce easy (i.e. many people can create weapon wise) skill chains that have magic bursts worth inviting a blm for. Otherwise you just get a pretty wasp sting or a shiny new seraph blade that other more aesthetically pleasing outputs than damage.

well if you remember in the storyline relic weapons were made during the crystal war so an alternate way to obtain them would no where near be out of the question so the whole obtaining relic thing easier would be true and would make sense i mean it would be a slap to the facce to everyone who worked hard but.... Yea And also the reason why blu cor and pup dont have relic stuff is because aht urghan didnot helpo the allied nations during the crystal war so pups %$^& you guys u aint getting final heaven which also makes me think there just new ws well just have to wait and see woot
