Skycloud :
BLU full time healers suck when ur a blu, specially the lacking of MP and high cost of MP per healing spells sleep.gif;

All I gotta say to this is LOL...

from the moment you get Wild Carrot, it's like Cure 2.5 and is more efficient than Cure 2. Yes it's MP costs more, but it cure enough HP to more than make up for the higher cost.

Magic Fruit is the same way... This cures more than Cure 4, and costs less MP.

Add /WHM and MND/MP gear, and neither MP nor cure efficiency are a problem.

BLU has access to as much MP gear as any other job with 'mage' in the title.

Divine seal makes the sexy curative abilities even sexier...

while full-time healing as BLU doesn't exactly let you melee/DD at your best performance, it's still very possible, and very effective. It's just a matter of gearing up for whatever role you're going to fill. *If you go to exp as a WHM being full-time healer and gear up in all melee gear, you'll have MP problems faster than you can say "dead tank".*

Yeah, once I was in an XP PT (72~75) where the RDM didn't know how to main heal and refresh/haste at the same time (RDM and me as BLU were the only magic users...) and keep his MP above 50...

So as BLU/NIN, I took over main healing for the PT. All I had to do was swap out my melee spells for some Clear Mind spells, swap some gear around (errant, some +MP, and some +hMP) and I main healed fine, every once in a while BA MP Drainkiss (50-150mp, we were at Greater Colibris). Considering how easily I handled it with /NIN, I have no doubt that with /WHM, main healing as BLU would take very little effort.

...makes me wonder if Skycloud really has BLU lvled to 75, or if he was just one of those bandwagon BLUs when it was first released and doesn't even have half his spells tongue.gif

On the topic of Dancer, by the way SE describes them on their main site, it definitely sounds like Dancer will have DD abilities, heavy debuffs, or both, and maybe some buffs.

The title of this topic is one of the most misleading that I've ever seen. Just about anyone who reads "Dancer going to flop?" is going to interpret it as "Will Dancer be an unpopular job among players?". Apparently, though, the original poster actually meant it as "Will some event in the FFXI storyline cause Dancers to die out before the Age of Adventurers?"

Judging by the large number of people who have posted something along the lines of "Why are you judging a job before it's even released, you n00b???", only a few people have actually read the thread...

My theory? Dancers just went out of style. Adventurers are going to start taking up the Dancer job, and all the NPCs are going to be, like, "OMG, that's so TOTALLY twenty years ago! Like, what are you, my Mom?"

I agree with this statement. I think that these new jobs were very much used during the great war however once it was all over, all jobs in a sense weren't really used as much. There are actually very few NPCs that are any of the jobs. I mean are there even any summoner's around anymore? I haven't done the SMN flag quest in almost 3-4 years now but isn't the NPC for that quest just the spirit of Karuha barahu or whatever his name is? It seems like a lot of the NPCs in the game for jobs are like "the last of their kind" type of thing. Well I guess the starting jobs (i.e. WHM BLM RDM WAR THF MNK) are still used. ToAU jobs are the only ones where you see the job actually walking around. The BLUs are all guards for the empress, and CORs are the remnants of a people who the empire destroyed so they became pirates.

Back to what the topic really is about according to everyone else. I don't think that the job is going to flop however I do think depending on what other jobs it will not be the most popular. BLU was the first announced and it was most popular but i dont think that this was because it was announced first. I think it was the job itself. BLU has been in the FF series for a long time and its a physical DD for the most part. I think people are on this mind set that as soon as they unlock dancer they're gonna have a cute AF set to wear and have tons of options. In reality its probably gonna semi-suck until like 50ish. Like when I think about lvling a new job, I do not think about the 1-35 grind, I think about what its gonna be like to be a 75 player.

Or maybe... The first dancer travelled throught a portal to the future, thus, the job never really happened in the past and was just a myth. If you watch the trailer, in Sandy, it has all the people who are currently there watching the dancer. I find it hard to believe they've stayed there over the years...
That way, Dancer never would have "died out", but never really happened. Due to the portal, it happens now, in the present.

Or maybe I'm the only one thinking time travel isn't going to be limited only to us. . .

No in the description of dancer it clearly states that dancer was popular during the time of the war. I think the reason they mention this detail is because we need to go back in time to get the job.
