from what i read IF i read it right and i probobly didnt. i think they talked about dancer being a tank job that holds hate by doing dances that generate high levels of enmity. if that is what it says then dancer/ninja prolly will be a popular choice at later levels unless dancer gets its own utsusemi type dance it can cast.

I think it's going to work like the opposite of a BRD but doing the same funtions, BRD can increase players Attack/Defense/Accuracy/Evasion and DNC will decrease the enemies Defense/Attack/Evasion/Accuracy both which would increase damage done, damage taken, hit % and evasion %. If I'm correct parties with a BRD AND a DNC will make mobs a joke, there will be no need for Accuracy or Attack gear for merit party mobs, people will be stacking STR and DEX.

Starr the problem with the idea of a "reverse buffer" that instead of buffing the party enfeeble the enemy is that there's very little to do to improve the effectiveness of melee by just enfeebling.
You can do defense down instead of attack bonus, and that's all right
You can do evasion down instead of accuracy bonus, and that's all right
But if you do slow, it's not like doing haste
if you do crit%- it's not like doing rogue's roll
and you can't really make something to equal Sam roll or Fighter roll.
Enfeebling is something that generally gives more benefits to the tank while buffing con give a lot more benefit to DD. Still good against HNM, if they really can get enfeebled by dance consistently, but probably not very good for merit parties. If you do a roll it last 5 minutes, but if you enfeeble a mob and that mob last 30 secs, you'd need to enfeeble every 30 secs to get the same result.
As for the japanese page, it's hard to understand what are they really talking about, however it's quite clear that they are talking about the NIN/BRD and PLD/BRD that were tanking before the mazurka nerf. They actually mention mazurka an "shield" (JP use the word shield instead of tank) a lot, but i don't really know what are they really talking about or how that relates to dancer.
It seems they mention something about a tank that sings and they add a laugh at the end.

I have to say, to me it seems as if they are learning to do stuff they couldn't (or didn't want to) do before... with some of the abilities they made in g2 merits..
ANYWAYS, I'm sure they have the ability to do a Negative Crit-%-- as in, the mob gets crit more, if they wanted it to be like rogues roll... Double attack and tp seem impossible, but there are some other debuffs I'm sure they can do. There are a LOT of possibilities they can do...

ANYWAYS, I'm sure they have the ability to do a Negative Crit-%--
You mean a debuff that can make the mob crit less? yes of course but i was talking about debuff that make the party hit harder, a sort of a "reverse buff" like def down or eva down.
Actually on a second thought they might indeed give a debuff that makes a target more susceptible to criticals, they'd just need to apply what happens with toreador mantle to mobs.
I guess the only real problem then is that in merit parties you don't really have space for a debuffer, unless they make something different, maybe the dancer will get some "auras" on himself after dancing, the aura will stay on him for 3-5 mins an it will instantly debuff whatever mob the dancer is attacking, this way there wouldn't be any need to constatly recast the debuff.
I just wonder if SE could really come up with such an idea...

I would like to point out Dancer has yet to be released, it is pointless to speculate and reduce a job to the lowly and overly worthless combat position of healer before it ever is released. Judging purely by it's use of daggers the company of the useless and skill less dregs of society (war, drk, sam, any melee burn job) will be useless to such an obviously superior job such as dancer. Dancer perhaps may find better company amongst thieves perhaps taking the position of 4th thf in their burn party setups which are superior by nature to anything war's can squeak out. Sure i'm biased and well known on Kujata for my hatred of war's, but really I want to piss everyone off much more than be correct. So everyone who is not a thf from this point on should shut up thank you.
I'm willing to bet Dancer is the holy marriage of thief and bard perhaps a prestige class and if it is then I'd see why War's fear it so much as short a few benefits thf would have no damage equal. That said Cmon SE give us the Thf 2hand weapon let us throw off the warrior oppression and destroy our enemies Zidane style and put stupid Steiner underground for good.

It's no an interview with SE, it's two guys conjecturing on what they suppose Dancer's role is.
This is correct. According to Elmer on BG who reads Japanese and does a lot of the famitsu translations, he says this isn't actually an interview but just 2 guys speculating about things.
