for a while now i've unlocked the eastern/western altepa zone and have continued to do my hot or cold always in the desert. Now I'm starting to wonder is there any reason i might want to unlock the other half of maps that lead to the jungles? As far as I know the yield and quality of items between deserts and jungles look fairly similar. Jungle i guess you have to be more accurate, deserts have fewer digs. Are these the only differences? Some people postulated that successful hot and colds could advance your chocobo digging? is this something to consider? what does everyone else do?

I find the Jungles to be easier, honestly. Once you have a good algorithm for plotting your digging, it's easy to find even a very tiny goal zone with enough digs. In the Desert, you pretty much have to be lucky in your initial guesses to stand a chance of finding even a largish goal zone.

On the other hand, I DO have Treasure Hunter on my Choco... That might tip the balance a bit.

As for advancing your digging... I dunno. I've been doing Hot and Cold for a couple months now, and haven't noticed any changes.
