Btw, to Holt and Stouter, I believe your story and I've known Stouter long enough to realize he wouldn't use it to bot claim NMs. I'm still a little shocked though he'd even take the risk of getting banned because of it though. It wouldn't be worth it to me personally just for map positions and fishing. But maybe this'll teach some people not to be so hasty and buy the ffxiapp, even for non-malicious purposes. You never know when you'll wind up with egg on your face.

I do not believe just owning the program makes you a cheater. It comes down to when you actually use the program.

No. People have reasons for doing things, be it legitimate or illegitimate. Unless of course your Godraiden, the black hole of fail.

To my eyes, no. ToS is ToS. The rules were designed to maintain a level playing field as a multi-platform game.

No. The issue here, though, is leniency and intent. These are things SE may or may not take into consideration when deciding on an account's future, but I do.

Do you think SE will even bother to look at these names and accounts?
Absolutely. That's a solid list. However, it's not like SE has the ability to ban right away. This program's code for the last couple of months has yet to be detected by SE, so SE is going to have to get their hands on a copy of the code and decompile it before they can implement countermeasures. At the same time, this dude that runs FFXIApp knows his stuff and can keep SE at bay. It's like a drug war, you can catch a dealer or kill a cop, but you'll never win either way because the fire flow from both sides may wane but never be fully cut off.

If this gets someone banned do you think others will stop using it?
If someone is banned as a result of FFXIApp, it goes directly to the credibility of the program's creator. Since the user is assuming the risk when downloading the program, they will likely reconsider and/or find a different program to use. Hundreds of hours of work is on the line, and people won't tolerate a critical failing of a program.

With that said, there is one name on the unknown list that may have fallen victim to being caught with this program. I'm not going to list his name because I have no confirmation. If in fact it is true in the past, I know for a fact based on their current conduct that they have already changed their ways going forward. I think that, in and of itself, is cause for people to stop using the program. The track history appears to be there and it's not worth the risk.

No, I don't. SE as always sided on the use of the program, not actually having it. All SE has is a massive lead sheet by which to watch these players in the coming weeks and months.

That depends on who wants to own up to this and change their ways and who doesn't. As an illustration, owning the program is enough be guilty of being a caretaker of Pandora's box. Dark Static leaders are advocates of botting. While they will deny that now, doesn't it seem odd that there is so many names in the list from Dark Static. Not to mention the week where DS claimed 5 or 6 out of 8 Fafnir/Nidhogg spawns? Nonponcho, Nenpenche, Afrancis, Cloudgino, Kalelsama, Littleyoda, Kahne, Mishanobi... This is only covering the members that were using FFXIapp and not other programs such as Mr Argus. We were actually recently discussing this on the Dark Static website but they decided to lock the forum once Nen and I brought up the point of them being alright with botting up until this point where it can ruin there reputation.

My name is on the list as well, but with a program with so much functionality it comes down to whether or not you think everyone who used that program used it to claim HNMs GNMs NMs, which is the real issue at hand. well it has widly been debated that windower is still hacking the game as well. sure it has its own built in adds that can be included to add cheating to the game so can other simple .dat editing. i myself used to .dat edit [red]NOT[/red] for gameplay but for sig making. but in doing so i learned real fast how easy it is to edit a .dat simply so a object such as a coffer can become a red, white and blue magic pot. and it made sence that hmm if all a person has to do is change this how hard would it be to change lets say leeping lizzy into lets say. a marboro. for fast spotting? well i descided then delete ffxi from my pc stop making sigs. because i didnt want the temptations . o how easy it would have been to start out simply with a .dat edit and the next thing you know your hacking the game to pieces. so i took that away before i got to deep.

we all make mistakes but you have to understand when you make a mistake that only effects you. then you have nothing to worry about if you dont learn your lesson. but playing a online game your mistakes effect other people. you mistake this game for a single player game with no responcibility. everything each of us do in this game effects someone else in some way. from the mob we kill that they could have. to the items we make and sale to the items we throw away.

you are making some real bad comparisons there. "i have app, but i dont claim NMs with it (or insert other use for it here)" is more close to:
"I have this new computer, but I don't really hack the CIA with it"
or to be les facetious: "I bought this porsche, and while I may speed with it more than I should on the open road, I am not tearing ass through the neighborhood with it"

I'd say everyone on the list cheated but there is a difference between claiming hnms and climbing on top of crags. I know someone that had this to climb and speed hack but they never really got around to endgame. While going from jueno to windy on foot in 3 secs did kind of piss me off i wouldn't report someone for doing that.

The only thing that sucks about letting some people off the hook is you make a loophole for the hardcore cheaters.
