Dancer is announced officially as female only, a separate and equally effective job with a different function is also offered for males only.

SE makes the generous offer of a one time only boutique access to allow you to change the race/sex/appearance of a character of your choosing but only once and then it dissappears forever. Would you do it? Which would you choose? Enough crying and noise making has been done over these questions in the past weeks, and despite all positive indicators people still sit in denial making threats of massive exodusies from FFXI. So would you do it if you had the chance?

I'd say SE is even more retarded than what I thought. Making 2 jobs that do the exact same thing, but only difference on what gender can play them is a waste of time and waste of memory that could be used for something better.

I did not say they do the exact same thing, I said they are both equally desired jobs, both are extremely popular classic jobs with a large fanbase wishing to play them. But SE has made it so you have to choose one based solely on gender, then you can never go back on that choice.

You know, right at the end of that story it mentions they open a school to teach others, so maybe some guys take the class and... you know the rest! So it doesn't completely take out the, "Maybe It's unisex job" option.

I don't see how anyone could answer that question without actually knowing what the other job does. Being equally effective doesn't mean it's equally desirable. For all I know my decision would come down to the AF design or character animations.
