Go go flamers! :wall:wall
Don't make topics like this. There is no right answer. Go to ffxiah.com, check out your server, and figure out which craft you can level for the cheapest and still make a reasonable profit in. If you can't do this, you're too stupid to craft, so go away.

lol ?
it was a normal question. i didnt play FFXI for like 2 years, and all i can remember was that crafting was expensive to level but later you could make a lot of profit of it. now when i look at the prices and material cost, you rather loose money than make profit... and i didnt knew the site ffxiah.com , which i dont really find helpful >.<
all i want to know is if crafters that have high crafting skills can still make decent money...

All crafts have their niches. These niches vary from server to server, and from moment to moment. You can ask "which craft is the best", and every answer you get will be both correct and incorrect. Nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING beats doing your own research. Watch the auction house, see what items are selling quickly and are low on stock. http://www.ffxiah.com is a very nice tool for helping you do that.
Even if someone gives you an answer like, "Oh, yeah - level Leathercrafting and make Austere gear! The stuff's selling like hotcakes!" it will do you no good. By the time you get Leathercrafting high enough to make Austere gear, chances are good that Austere gear will no longer be a big moneymaker. Other crafters will have noticed the boom and moved in on the market already, and provided all the gear that SMNs could possibly need.
Pick a craft that you like. Level it. Once it's levelled high enough, check the auction house and see what items are in demand. Craft those items, and sell them for big bucks. That's how the crafting game is played.
Of course, that's for big money items. If you're content with a steady stream of low-profit sales, there will always be a market for consumables, like ammo and food. Level Alchemy, or Cooking, and you'll always have plenty of options for things to sell. You won't get rich fast, like a smart high-level crafter can, but you'll always have spare change available.

And don't forget hybrid crafting =P Don't be fooled by the terms "main" and "sub" craft. They are misleading.
