Matchmaking

Once your chocobo has reached a mature stage of development (this occurs on Day 30), it is possible to match it with other chocobos. The resulting offspring may exhibit the attributes or coloring of its parents.

Chococards

* You can receive a chococard by speaking with the VCS trainer and selecting the “Ask for a chococard” option.
* This chococard is a chart that contains your chocobo’s vital statistics. There are chococards for both male and female chocobos: chococard (M) and chococard (F).

The Matchmaking Process

1. Obtain the chococards for the chocobos you wish to match.
2. Speak to the NPC Finbarr (click on Finbarr for more information on breeding plans) in Upper Jeuno to purchase a VCS Honeymoon Ticket.
3. Trade the following items to Finbarr:
* Chococard (M)
* Chococard (F)
* VCS Honeymoon Ticket
4. Wait until JP midnight time before talking to Finbarr again. You will receive a new chocobo egg.

So you need to find both a Black Chococard (M) and a Black Chococard (F) either through shouts or checking peoples bazaars, then follow the above. Hope that helps.

Ok i followed the instruction for everything. find 2 black chocob VCS cards, M and F. and get a plan from Finbar. I did it twice already, 2 blacks, and i keep getting a yellow chocobo. is something wrong or just bad luck? i had chosen jeuno tour plan and then 2nd time tried the nature walk plan. Im so sad how difficult it is and expensive to get a black chocobo! ; ;

i read on japanese blog that in jeuno, the mithra sells egg for yellow, black and blue chocobos. but it is still 30% chance or something to get black or blue. is this true? any links to posts about success rate or chances would appreciated. thanks!

All chocobos look yellow when they hatch, regardless of color. If both parents were black, then the chick will grow up to be black as well.

Also there's a coloring dye you can give to your choco to make it black...temp only tho...check here

There is a random element to chocobo colors. I went through 6 before I finally got my red. The color of your chocbo will be determined at day 19 when it becomes a teen. It will still be yellow but have colored feather tips depending on its color. A yellow chocobo will have white tips, black will have black tips, blue will have blue etc. Good luck, beyond that information its hit and miss.
