Seems there are no missions in FFXI?
Sounds like this guy never gave it a chance to begin with but I do agree with him on one point that FFXI is very difficult and complecated game for new players to get used to.
Unless they have an experienced player to mentor them through the early stages, there isn't anything ingame to give them any clue as to what your supposed to do next.
Also his mate who recommended FFXI to him, should have given him better insight as to what the game involves before he bought it.
Anyone who asks me about it, I tell them if your a casual player that only has 2-3hours to play a game during the evening, then you wont like FFXI.
There's also language barriers to deal with since FFXI is probably the only online game that isn't region specific so even the first person a new player may ask for help, may not be able to answer because he doesn't understand you.
It's not as though most of us have a grasp of how to use the auto-translator function at this stage and I was well in to my late lvl 60's on first job before I fully understood what it was there for.
Understanding macros was difficult for me too since I only found out how to make a cure macro when my first job was lvl 30+

Good call on looking like a douchebag, obviously this guy isn't a fan of the FF series to play for such a short time and quit. On top of that, making a 6 minute video of bitching and moaning about something he didnt have to do. I didn;t know what to expect from FFXI because it was my 1st mmorpg, but i knew it would be okay because square enix made it and i have faith in their videogame making skillz. so bascially, if you get pissed about something you can't get your money back for, dont be a douche about it and definately dont make a 6 minute video about it because it'll make you look more-douchier:D

I'm sure the Playonline process has turned away atleast 1/10 of potential FFXI players(the lowest fraction of the idiots) who knows, maybe SE used the hard process to filter out all of the morons? I joke, but there's even another vid on Youtube bitching about the same thing, though it doesn't mean you're not a dumbass for not being able to figure it out, I think I was 14 when I started, 2 years younger then this tool and I got the hang of it after only about 45 minutes of wondering around.
