Heres my thinking on this. The EU PC version is product A we shall say = 30 dollars.
the PS2/360 version is product B which again is 30 dollars.
together they are separate products on different platforms. SO they are 60 dollars.
IF you BUY product B but DOWNLOAD product A you are not buying 2, just 1. SO my thinking is that is ripping SE off.
Its not like you can buy the 360 version and install it on your PC. Its not like buying the PC version and installing it on separate computers.

But this is just my personally feeling. Yes you only need 1 reg code but buying it on a platform then downloading the PC version is still not buying it for the PC. And there in lies my personal morals. BUT its okay, I will get it Friday and all shall be smooth!

Yeah but the majority of people downloading it (read: probably 99% of all who have done it) are on PC only, so sure it'ld be a rip off I guess if we own the original FF on the system we bought it for. I.e. I download it for PC but buy the PS2 version but only have FFXI installed on my PC and don't even have the original game on my PS2, ergo I can't play it on 2 systems now as WoTG is an expansion only, not the core game so it's worthless for me till I get the core game on the system I bought it for.

In most the situations I'm betting this above example is what's happening, so really SE isn't getting ripped off, the sales records are just being a bit skewed in favor of the systems as opposed to the PC.

But that's just how I read into it. Besides SE deserves something for the mess they caused, they screwed up, gave no explanation, and nothing more then a "Whoops sucks to be you" to a few thousand+ of us. I think it's more then fair that we're allowed to find alternative means to play, heck SE is still making money.

Aren't registration codes unique? If you register it once, it can't be registered again on a different platform can it?

It doesn't matter what platform you use the code on, it registers your account across all platforms available.

I also think its funny all the lolPC stuff about this. So you xbox/ps2 users out there would have been OK if they had fuccked you guys and released only the PC version before the rest?

Not to sound like an ass but you're just 2 days late on content. It's nothing to cry about. There isn't even a lot of content out yet. As far as I'm concerned you can't get past the 2nd mission and Campain isn't anything to really brag about, I got bored of it fairly fast.

Honestly, I'm a little annoyed by the fact that I haven't managed to get my copy yet, but that's no reason to get all whiny and complain to no end about it. It's not like you're never going to get your expansion, just you'll get it a bit late (and it's not like you're the only one suffering through it). If you were as desperate about it as you claim, you'd have bought the ps2 or 360 version, downloaded the torrent that's been bouncing through the major FFXI forums, and then used the codes from them to play. If you aren't willing to go that far, then you must not be needing the expansion THAT bad.

While I somewhat agree with your statement, I also have dissenting beliefs. It is rather pitiful that SE had delayed shipping, but offered no retribution to their PC based users. It is frustrating to see other people doing all the expansion stuff (whether it be about having fun and not "z0rg, I need to do this before anyone!") while you have to sit back and bit your tongue. I now it was very unfortunate, but it does suck and this guy is just expression his frustration over a forum . I don't think you should have to go d/l a torrent...change the reg...Buy a PS2 one just to register it...Doesn't make sense to me.

This was clearly SE's way of punishing all PC users for using windower, and allowing PS2 and 360 users to get the game earlier. Suck it up.

I got the 360 version Wednesday and I've spent most of my day today clicking "Retry" to get to the registration page for WotG so I can use it.

I'm getting pretty good at it but I still haven't made it to the part where I get to put my key in.

I almost wish I had the PC version of FFXI just because having it and being unable to use it sucks even worse then not having it at all.

My friend in the UK is sending me a copy.

I'm an Australian user, and I preordered my copy last month, but I got an email last week from UbiSoft saying that shipment of FFXI WotG to Australia could potentially be delayed until the 13th of December at max.

Said date then was registered as the release date of the FFXI expansion on most major game websites.

3 days isn't so bad compaired to 3+ weeks!

And heck, let me just say that I'd love a chance at a Moogle Rod or a Moogle Cap like most of you guys.

But, I'm fortunate to have a friend who's willing to wait and play with me, and to even get the expansion at all! I can't really complain :love.

Funny, a guy at my store told me the same thing...Why the FUCK wouldn't UPS ship on the busiest shopping day of the year? Boggles my mind. Regardless, I called the sote at 10 AM and the guy was in such a rush, the stupid fucking asshole told me they had it in (probably thinking I was speaking of 360 or ps2).
