OK, I've been raising chocobos since the bright beginning and I've NEVER had any problems on the 'basic races' to get the gyshal medal that a speed apple couldn't solve if my choco had first/first str/end.

This chocobo...

Has first/first str/end PLUS gallop and can't seem to make it higher than 5th in the trial race against the Windy choco lady and the rest. Not with speed apple, not with gyshal bomb, not with shadow apple... not with final spurt, not with sprint, not with keep pace.

So how can this first/first choco with GALLOP be WORSE than ALL of my previous chocobos that were first/first who DIDN'T have gallop?!?! Did they make the races harder recently or something?

Seriously, I've done this stupid race 10 times and am at my wits' end.

Oh yeah and it likes clear days, even. There's no reason I know of that it should be losing such an easy race.

If they have DIS above yours.

DIS is almost as important as STR and probably more important than END. Makes a huge difference, you'll notice it.


When racing against computers, my chocobo had first class STR/END and was struggling(I won 50% the time, lost 50% of the time) to beat players with average STR and DIS.

Once I boosted DIS, I beat almost every racer all the time.

That hadn't been my experience with my previous 8 chocobos going through the gyshal trial races. The most I ever lost was 3 times I think, and that one wasn't on a first/first.

All of my other first/first str/end when racing against the computer in the trial race had an easy time on virtually all of the races, even if they didn't have gallop. Since this one is equal to the others stats-wise but ALSO has gallop, I can't understand why it's losing. ;_;

Too bad about the disc, though. It's a patient chocobo so the only way to raise it is to dump the 30+ hours and 100K+ gil into getting chocobucks to raise it. (at 1 minute and 300G per chocobuck, 90 chocobucks per coin, 7 coins per level of disc, which is what it cost for the choco I tried it on. ... who still hasn't been able to learn canter. >_<)

I know no one was on the edge of their seats, but I FINALLY won this race by using a chocobo hood. I'd lost repeatedly because of the pepper biscuits, fire biscuits and gyshal bombs thrown my way. With the chocobo hood I evaded just enough to come in FIRST. Not bad considering I hadn't placed better than 5th before.
