Headhunting
In every area, players may run into free-spirit NPCs with ties to no nation. Such NPCs are known as "freelances." On such encounters you may be able to recruit these characters, enlisting them to temporarily serve the efforts of the Allied Forces. Freelances recruited in such a manner will not only participate directly in combat, but will also come to have an influence on the armies and countries which they serve under, and may even form their own ranks to lead in battle.

Anyone Headhunted some NPC's yet? I'm interested on the experience, Do they show up on widescan?

List of NPCs involved in Headhunting (Best I figure, they're in every zone):

Kagetora - member of the Tenshodo, looks like when he uses Utsusemi he produces "real" copies of himself, like some Mamool NMs

Dalzakk - Galka from Bastokan Missions and MNK AF

Oggbi - Galka from MNK AF, and Asuran Fists quest

Rainemard - Elvaan RDM from RDM AF, Curilla's father

Maat - Oh I have no idea who this NPC is and what he does...

Azima - Advanced synthesis support NPC for Alchemy

Choh Moui - Mithra BST who invented the Pet food, appears to have 8 chigoes as pets? o_o

Azo - ???

Vahi - ???

Ulla - ???

Kilhwch - ???

Anyone seen any of these? Apparently Choh Moui has been recruited into the Windurst forces on Asura. I'm not sure who Headhunted her. Just like to find out some more info. Post If you have anything relavent please!

i was under the impression that headhunting was not in the game yet and would be activated in a later patch.

Choh Moui if i rember correctly this npc has been hanging around in saruta on pandimonium. with her pet Greater bird

There was a bird in West Sarutabaruta named "Pya". I thought it was Simurgh at first or something equivalent. I asked around and apparently a NPC in full BST AF and the Guttler Axe summoned it. It was said that she repeatedly kept telling the Guttler to STFU in /say. lol. Apparently she warped and left the bird behind. 2 waves of beastmen later, the bird randomly dies after just standing there and not helping at all. I'm fairly sure this was Moui, but, The people that like to look at the .dats say that Moui is accompanied by an army of chigoes... Maybe she gets these later, like Zonpa-Zippa and his harem of Aquarian Casters...

This is what got me wondering... being a Ranger, I should have an edge on locating these Headhunts, so I thought I'd gather some info... o.o;

People have been saying headhunting is a Campaign ops, but I'm not so sure. As far as I can tell, the headhunt targets appear in zones -not- under attack... Maybe It's as simple as talking to them...? Need more info...

yea after looking around at some other posts apparently the guttler wearing bird summoning mithra is allied with windurst on every server. i am pretty sure headhunting is not active yet.

The mithra is the leader of a branch of the windy army and can actually summon 2 greater birds and i forget her name but she, her birds 2 mithra war and about 6 mnks turned on me during a campaign in west saru [s]. GM took hours to respond to that call.

Yeah head hunting is out yet. It was in the initial patch notes, then again in the last things to come notes. It's coming out soon though, I wouldn't be surprised if the next update brought it.

As far as head hunting, the way SE talked about it, it more or less seems likes there's neutral NPC's everywhere, from towns, to fields, to dungeons and we're supposed to "convince" them to join our side (nation perhaps even?) to fight against the beastmen. Now the interesting part will be how to recruit them, and if it's something we're going to have to do a lot, or if we recruit them once and that's it then, we got them forever (unless maybe they get captured besieged style perhaps?)

What do you mean "Turned on me"? They killed you after helping?

I accepted a mission yesterday where I had to go to the Gate Guard in an outside zone and escort and NPC to the Outpost. It was a green letter NPC, not white lettered like the campaign guys. I walked her from the tunnel by Fort Narugo to the OP in Saruta. She hung around for a minute and I got 100 exp when I talked to the OP NPC. I don't think this is the Headhunting quest though. Maybe that will be after obtaining more ribbons or medals.

The bird Pya has been in Saruta at the OP for 2 days now on Odin just sitting there. It does nothing. You can cast enhancing and curing magic on it but it does nothing. Not really sure what it is supposed to do, all still a little confusing.

What do you mean "Turned on me"? They killed you after helping?

Tried to. between the second and third waves they targeted all of the players in the area and tried to kill us. They couldnt actually hit us but they seperated and lagged us all up till the demon showed up with a horde of eles and killed off all the players in the area, once we were down the npcs suddenly thought maybe fighting the demon and his eles would be okay.

I've found the NPC Dalzakk in Sauomugue Champaigne...

Dalzakk: What is a lone Galka doing in a place like this? You are not that perceptive, are you?

He won't talk to me yet... I haven't met some kind of requirement. Maybe Allied Tags status will get him to talk to me, no CAmpaign battle in the area yet though.

I'll keep up updates, Post any relavent details~!

Trading any item to them seems to make them respond. I found a hume ninja named "Kagetora" by the walls in rollanberry. Maybe they want a specific item? or an item of great value? Maybe thats just for Kagetora. I could easily see every npc needing a very different way to recruit them.

About the NPC you saw.. I Ran by Zonnpa-Zippa or w/e his name is and he was green like NPC's, instead of white like Campaign NPCs. He told me to "Enjoy your time filthy mercenary, the day of the cardians is near" Or something like that. havent seen him green yet again

I am "adept" in Alchemy, level 80, and when I talk to Azima, she says something along the lines of "you are well versed in alchemy, I am only begining! Alchemy is better than magic, something something, as it leaves a gift at the end." She only says it once though, then says something about the path to Konschtat being blocked. She will repeat the first phrase if I zone though.

So perhaps, the method of headhunting her is having some alchemy skill and talking to her?
