Gearing up for Slug Shot

Hello everyone sorry if I didn't notice another thread about this but I'm really looking for advice for myself and maybe just a good thread to start for people to look at when they need help with gearing for Slug shot. I've never really leveled a 'DD' job and I really don't know how to setup my WS equip set to make it as best I can get with the gear I have access to. I'll list what I use now (mostly I load on the RACC because I still miss alot) but I'd like to know what to equip after I get some better RACC gear in other spots.

Gun: Martial Gun
Head: Corsair's Tricorne (I use this over Optical because of the STR)
Neck: Diabolos/Spectacles
Earrings: Vision/Beaters/Suppanomimi
Body: Pahluwan
Hands: Deadeye Gloves
Rings: Behemothx2
Back: Amemet +1
Waist: Royal knight's belt +1
Legs: Dusk Trousers
Feet: Corsair's bottes

At the moment, I'm working on w hands and pahluwan legs but I'm not really sure how to setup a WS setup efficiently so any help as to what direction I should be heading would be greatly appreciated thank you

Once you start getting better R.ACC, or merits, or are in a situation where you're landing enough, you'll want to start adding STR (more damage) and AGI (main mod for Slug)

What I use is(WS only, planned upgrades in brackets):
Gun: Martial Gun
Head: Corsair's Tricorne
Neck: PCC (gorget prefered)
Earrings: Vision/Beaters (triumph perfered)
Body: Blue Clotheride+1(Skadi's Body ; wink.gif
Hands: CFG (Skadi Hands +5AGI +5STR)
Rings: Rajas/Flame
Back: Amemet +1
Waist: Scouter's Rope/Precise Belt
Legs: Pahluwan
Feet: Skadi's Jambeaux

If your accuracy is shaky, there's nothing wrong with using Slug in your standard R.Acc gear. But you also have the option of using (the more accurate) Detonator in STR gear so keep all your options in mind.

STR is the most efficient way to break new damage records. AGI does the same thing at about half efficiency (1 STR ≈ 2 AGI for base dmg). R.Atk always helps, but it's possible to cap it with food and buffs depending on the situation. And of course R.Acc as needed--this requirement will vary with food, buffs, etc.

The setup you have isn't bad; you won't be missing many Slug Shots due to your r.acc but your damage won't be as high either. How much r.acc you can sacrifice for r.atk and STR gear is completely dependant on many factors such as mob level, Marksmanship merits, food, and external buffs such as Hunter's Roll.

Here is what I currently Slug in:

Gun: Martial Gun
Head: Corsair's Tricorne
Neck: Light Gorget
Earrings: Fenrir's/Suppa (Triumph Earrings are on my to-get list)
Body: Denali Jacket
Hands: CFG
Rings: Flame/Ruby (need a 2nd Flame)
Back: Amemet +1
Waist: Warwolf Belt
Legs: Pahluwan Seraweels
Feet: Corsair's bottes (will replace with Skadi or Denali when I get them)

Other than the items you're already working for, I'd go for a sea gorget for your WS, a Bucaneers Belt (trade in ampoules from Einherjar) for waist (or Precise Belt/Gun Belt).

Most importantly make differnet WS macros. If you're fighting in Mire or at Greater Colibri, use some extra STR instead of R.acc. If you go to Mamools, go back to R.acc.

Ok, I finally got my Joyeuse a few days ago, as well as got myself a Martial Gun. So we went to merit at the place right before u drop down to the bird bowl camp, and we fought Mamool Ja. I just couldnt land Slugs for the life of me. Still 0 Marksmanship merits and i was /nin (cuz I was pulling), gear was:

Weapon: Joyeuse
Off-hand: ---
Rng Weapon: Martial Gun
Ammo: Steel Bullet
Head: Corsair's Tricorne
Neck: Wivre Gorget (I'll get Spectacles in a few days)
Ear: 2x Drone
Body: Corsair's Frac
Hands: CFG
Rings: 2x NQ Behemoth
Back: Amemet (lol, yah i'll get +1 soon too)
Waist: Ocean Belt (was what i had on me)
Legs: War Brais
Feet: Corsair's Bottes

On top of that, I was eating sushi. Is this a normal problem for CORs?

Fighting the Mamools at the Colibri camp? If you were pulling down those upper level Mamools...then yea, with that gear you would be having problems landing Slugshot. Even if you were using sushi, it would still be a problem on those mobs.

The only camp I use COR for is birds Dorone, too painful for Accuracy on Mamool and Defense on Trolls, Mire would be sweet but who merits there?

Smart people realize that COR doesn't actually need to do any damage to make the best party available.

If you have 3 well geared melee capable of of infinite chains, then get the BRD+COR+RDM combo for 2x March, Some DD roll, Corsarir's Roll

+XP roll is the best option in merits assuming the former.

I realise that, the fact that I get bored shitless when I'm not doing damage and just rolling once a minute is why I only use COR at Bird camp, I don't play the game to be bored shitless.

Just curious, was wondering if your WS setups were using Sushi or Coeurl Subs? When I 1st got COR to 75 I used Sushi exclusively, lately I've been trying to swap to attack food but the accuracy hit is depressing, so I was trying to load up on R accy/ accy gear to compensate.
TP Gear: Optical Hat
Chivalrous Chain (want PCC)
Suppanomimi/Minuet Earring
Paluwhan Body
War Gloves +1
Woodsman/Jaeger Ring
Amemet Mantle +1
Potent Belt
Dusk Trousers
Tabin Boots +1

WS Gear: Optical Hat
Light Gorget
Suppanomimi/ Drone Earring
Paluwhan Body
CFG
Behemoth Ring x2
Amemet mantle +1
Potent Belt
Dusk Trousers
Corsair's Bottes

I have /war and /nin available (currently working on /rng.

Also I notice alot of ppl here use Martial Gun, I am currently using Coffinmaker. Is Martial Gun better than Coffinmaker? I figured the +9 R accy would be better since Slug Shot is a whore to land sometimes.

Well, your level of TP is what effects Slug Shot's accuracy, and Martial Gun's TP bonus makes a WS as though you fired it with an extra 100% (So firing at 100% with Martial is like firing at 200% with another gun). The bonus is generally accepted to be considerably more than Coffinmaker's +9, but it'd be difficult to actually measure.

In short, Martial tends to be better if you're meleeing for TP, whereas Coffinmaker is better for TPing by melee. You could also make a case for Coffinmaker for /RNG, since the 9 R.ACC will also effect Barrage.

For /WAR or /NIN melee, Martial wins hands down.

That being said, if you already have Coffinmaker, you're hardly gimp if you don't feel like paying out for Martial. Coffinmaker is a fine gun.
