ring and cane you get from the quests where you find the people.

You have to get a card from them, not an Andromeda card, but a Magellan card.

I obtained a roast turkey while doing the card quest with the moogles. I don't know if it was the andromeda or magellan card, though. Just chucked it since it can't be sold. My moogle also found a food item from one of the furnishings in my house, however, so I'm going to assume they're the same as last year and that all dream platters will yield roast turkeys after enough time.

How to Obtain :

Obtained by trading an item to the Lucky Mouse in Qufim Island. He runs around, followed by 4 Lucky Rats.Also found a Lucky Mouse in *East Sarutabaruta

This item was unintended to be in the game until the next Chinese New Year, which is the year of the Rat. GM's sent out messages around Dec. 7th 2007, instructing that if players had recieved the snowman mage, snowman miner, or snowman warrior, to toss it immediately. "Further Action" was threatened to take place on Dec. 9th, 2007, if any player refused. Many speculate this to mean that the GM's will simply remove the item from your inventory without further notice.

Got all 3 from same lucky mouse. I traded 1 earth crystal on earthday and got Mage, another crystal got Miner.
3rd crystal gave me Enthunder so I traded melon pie and got Knight, 2nd pie gave me shell.

Found a Lucky Mouse in Western Altepa, traded him items a couple times in a row and managed to get all three of the Snowmen. They're pretty freaking big! =O

Prize was a painting with mog enhancment: gil and some cheap paddle ball/club.. thing

and i would say you can find the lucky mouse running around in every zone, past events have had them running around in places like Xarcabard, Beauscidine Glacier, and closer to home like the zones outside the 3 cities.

I traded a dark crystal to a mouse just beside the crag of mea and got a Snowman Miner, tryed trading more but he didnt give me anything.

I got snowman miner, knight and then mage within 10 mins of getting to Tahrongi canyon from the same lucky mouse NPC.
I just off loaded a bunch of crystals from my mule which I generally store on there and sent it to my main and it worked like a charm.

Ive believe the new year gift is the same as past years and is used to obtain a wall furnishing known as Hoary Spire - a picture

Trade Gift to either of these NPC's
NorthSan d'Oria - Jeanparmand D-8 Bastok Markets - Bunta D-11 or Port Windurst - Pyru-Copyru B-4

When you trade the gift you will get 3 choices.
Ask Grandpa something = Fortune Telling
Something from my pocket = Battledore DMG 2 Delay 264 lv1 all job [club]
Ask about Grandpa

If you chose the 2nd option and got a Battledore, go ride the Jeuno to Windy Airship,on the deck there is an NPC called Dilauriome, talk to him while having Battledore equipped.

Trade 1 Bast Parchment and 2 Black Ink to Dilauriome to get the Hoary Spire.

I got this item last year, IIRC you get mogenhancement Gilfinder or something along those lines (If that is only furniture you have)
