My chocobo has AVg Disc and still cant learn canter anyone know if this is the right level of DIsc its really throwing off my whole training.

I have attempted to create a avg dis chocobo teach it gallop/canter and then raise its str before day 65. The highest you can get is avg str to go with your abilities. That and sometimes you get poor luck in making brutus hand over that canter story.

One method I heard, was to simply go full str with the bird all the way to outstanding/1st class and spend chocobucks to train up the required discernment. This is mostly done with racing circuit or hot-n-cold.

I have not tried this myself, but it sounds less stressful than watching all that hard earned str converted into dis. Also, making a bird do something against its personality SEEMS to make it more succeptable to injuries, illness, and love sickness.

I have raised all my birds with taking Str and End to first class cap then raising disc with dig for treasure and chocobo bucks. It is less stressful for sure.

Also Dig for treasure does not affect str only end.

It does take awhile to get that story sometimes so its better to raise the str and end first.

Heres a breif overview of what i do.

Day 4-18 - Care plan: Take a walk in town, 2-3 short walks, watch over for rest of health. feed 2-3 vomp carrots depending on hungry lvl.

Day 19-28 - Care plan: Carry packages. 1-2 regular walks, watch over for rest of health. Feed 2-3 vomp carrots, 1 green if needed. Only race against the 3 npc's if bored, scold if spoiled and feed azouph or sharug greens if affection below regards as parent.

Day 29-48ish - Care plan: Carry Packages (should have spent approx 4-5 days with Str at Firstclass). 1-2 Long walks, watch over for rest of health. Feed 2 vomp carrots 1 affection green. Helps keep affection at regards as parent. Hope like hell you have meet brutus.

Day 49ish-65 - Care Plan: Dig for treasure (end drops to better than average, disc should be a bit diffecent or average). 1-2 Long walks, watch over for rest of health. Feed 2 vomp carrots 1 affection green. Helps keep affection at regards as parent. Hope like hell you have meet brutus. Day 65 stats lock.

Day 65-done - Care plan basic care. I normally forget about my bird now and focus on walks if needed to get that stubborn story and chocobo racing through the npc outside of the chocobo circut. (I did 8 races a day at a cost of 3,550gil and about 1hrs time earning 26chocbo bucks a day) Every 80 chocobobucks put into disc to get it to average and a little higher. at average start spamming stories. When learned retire unless you want to raise other stats.
