I'd imagine they would have a good role for big NMs and small HNMs like Ungur, Charybdis, Lumberjack, Roc, etc.
I mean, why not?

Cream Soda :
Had one on Chary, worked out well.
Had one on Chary, worked out well.
With what else ? I would fear the TP feed on charyb with a DNC.

rdm brd dnc mnk/nin. He just kept his back turned and did steps pretty much. With double mambo though and my eva build, I took like no dmg the entire fight.

Can you PM me your evasion build specs. Veg? Just interested in the comparison to my own, I haven't tried tanking charbydis with mambo before, I usually just double march and haste for it and don't really take much damage with a co-tank, but I want to start solo tanking him so getting a estimate on evasion would be great.
I'd ask to post here if you want but since its DNC Forum and not MNK I figured I'd ask otherwise.

Most of the jobs posted for end game were mage jobs which makes sense seeing how you are Taru. But for me I personally like tanking. Don't get me wrong my first job to 75 was WHM and it helped me get into the HNML scene really fast. But there ia slo something else to consider with there being so many job options out there now it seems harder and harder to find a tank when looking for an EXP party for my DNC. I'm sure if you picked up NIN or PLD you'd level really fast do to the demands of tanks. At least on my sever. Not to mention without a tank in most circumstances your not getting anywhere which makes it easy to find a role in just about any situation.
For me there's nothing better then getting in the face of a HNM, God, King, and so on and knowing that you keeping this mob from destroying your whole alliance. I take pride in every mob I tank end game because to me failure isn't an option and I never want to let me shell down. But even more so I love taking on challenges of tanking new mobs especially with NIN in circusmatnces where people say it's impossible. I personally don't like to stand in the back and leveling WHM made me realize that. I like being the center of attention and on the front line where all the action is. So I guess a good start would be to ask yourself a few questions. For example do I want to sit on the sidelines? Do I want to fight up front? Do I want to have a job that can solo?
As for me my DNC is level 61 and with my current gear set-up my +ACC is ok but I really don't know how this job is going to stand up in a HNML. For example I couldn't imagine using the job in a Kirin situation. I mean I guess you could bring and opp-opp necklace and sleep pots and try to manage TP that way but in my opinion that's a wasted slot with just to much down time. I'm sure I'm like most people leveling DNC I want to see first hand to how effective it could be for endgame and just like the rest of us who in the early FFXI years found a way to make NIN tank I'm hoping that I'm able to figure out ways of making DNC serve an endgame purpose. With the recent updates coming, merit system, and AF gear who knows. Maybe DNC may serve a vital role or even provide another alternative to the way that mobs are fought just like NIN did.

I think people forget that there's actually an increased TP return on landed steps, so it should be fairly easy to get a decent return investment off of initial TP expended. Assuming you're not healing.
/shrug
I have TH4 so it's not like I'll be taking DNC anywhere endgame.

Noob question (sorry DNC24 here) : TP return on steps ? I don't think i ever saw TP return on Quickstep, and wiki doesnt mention it. How does it work ? Or do you mean you get increased TP off hits when steps have landed before. Or on ws ?

What he's talking about is if you look at the formula for Reverse Flourish at 1 FM its 10 2 FM (10 per if you use violent florish for stun) it gives back 21 (+1 tp) 3 FM gives back 33 (+3), 4 FM is 46 (+6) and five FM is 60 so (+10 tp) this of course assumes your using violent flourish every time its up (Which actually gives tp as if you had hit anyway) and if not those returns are even better than the numbers listed here as it takes 1 quickstep to produce 2 FM if dnc is your main which it would have to be to do Reverse Flourish you can actually produce while debuffing the mob +52 tp a minute as the reverse flourish is on a 30 second timer. 2xsteps + reverse flourish every time it is up. 3 steps is +30 i'll admit but that requires wasting the extra 15 seconds that could be towards the next reverse flourish.

I'm not trying to be super dick, but makes some friends in game. Somehting the other 50 bazillion threads on this site have yet to say is eventually you're goign to meet enough friends stuck at the same palce as you. Express an interest in getting your mission done, and be willing to leave what you're doing to get it done. Ocaisionally friends from years ago vouch for me, and for soem reason those always seem to go the smoothest.
As far as DNC, I see it being worthless to endgame wihtout 2-3 in the alliance as steps will be worthless in long fights and not going to be happening on anything that isn't straight tanked if they can't be brought up continously. Its simply an opinion, and peopel have it in their head Zerg and repeat, and nothing else is the trend. Dnc seems to stretch fights out, so its not so useful here. Not saying it isn't useful, but without a few in end game together it won't make a noticable difference in a fast sitaution. Most sky popset fights I've been to last 3-6 mintues dpeending on if somehting goes wrong, (which happens often,) and only 6 minutes if you had to make a bad recovery, with exception to Kirin. I'm only 40, and in exp pt's I felt I was wasting steps before reverse flourish when no-one had issues hitting the mob period after slwo was already cast on it. I can see why we do them, but you'll be lucky to get to a daze lvl 4 on a mob when you're making good exp, and when you hit 4 you'll say way am I waisitng 30-40 tp, when I could be ws gettign more anyway?
As far as you're DNC gettign you through stroy line fights and bc battles, if that's all you want I suggest running BLU up. THey do exceptional in the harder fights, (including TAU 44 aka Alexander.)
