Rockius has obviously never played WoW, especially not endgame.
Obviously? I made a comment about online games in general so where did you get that from? Whatever, here's three pics:
That's a pic I took of a chatlog Arathi Basin.
There's a pic I took of a chatlog in Alterac Valley.
And this is a pic of me logging out so fast I came back intime to gank my own alt. It's quite an old pic as I had a mix of Season 1, 2 and 3 Gladiator gear before I left, but this should be proof enough.
Feeling salty yet?

The "community" being better is true in part but as a whole, not really. You see FFXI breeds elitest pricks, and greediness (because loot tables are so weak). One of FFXI's greatest assets is also it's greatest flaw - job changes, because anyone can change their job, theoritically anyone can use any piece of armor at any point, even for that level 75 PUP they never play. In WoW you typically are not as close to the people you are with UNTIL, you have a strong solid progression based-guild, and most all guilds in WoW use DKP (which for some reason FFXI guilds seem strangly adverse too). No you won't know EVERYONE on your WoW server like you can in FFXI, but you will know your friends, and you will form bonds with them - and it was also harder to know everyone on your server when more than 500,000 people played. FFXI's a popularity contest to find out how many people you can get on KI to hang off your e-wang, getting in good with your god-complex LS leaders to get drops, and dealing with certain poor game mechanics that really hurt the overall game experience (You must wait longer to perform that action.). WoW is a lot of fun, but doesn't have the length of time, or sense of accomplishment that FFXI brings. You also don't form as many solid connections with other players UNTIL endgame (the belief that you form no solid connections is simply a fallacy.) In short if you're looking for an engrossing MMO in which you work hard to and feel a sense of accomplishment just for leveling up, with a small strong community, play FFXI. If you're looking for an MMO that is fun, allows for short playtimes, and can be 'completed' in 6 months time, with more up to date game mechanics, and a looser knit large commnuity, play WoW.
.. ._.
I'm gonna just ignore the obvious joke and just continue with the topic. All you ADD cats, might aswell tack on the tl;dr and keep it moving already, because I don't half ass my posts.

The loot tables weak? Sure there is some wtf drops, but for the most part, quality mobs drop quality gear. And if they don't, no one bothers. So no big loss there. And heck, atleast FFXI loot is stable. Hope you enjoyed raiding for 8hrs a day during Burning Crusade because when Wrath of the Lich King comes out, all that gear is gonna be vendor trash and/or hitting the floor. Atleast the ton of work I did for my Byakko's Haidate 3yrs ago is still useful today.
On another subject, WoW's loot is just as bad. Alot of people quit because the gear you get for raiding 5hrs a day is rivaled by gear from people losing 10 games a week or paying someone to win 10 games a week. Which can all be done in one night in less than an hour or over the course of a week for maybe 10-20 minutes at a time. Getting temporary partners to reach 10 games introduced me to douchebags far greater than any FFXI has produced. Atleast being a douchebag in FFXI has server wide consequences. In WoW, no one cares. You're expected to be a douchebag there to survive. Hence one of the reasons why the community is so bad.

People level multiple jobs in FFXI, people level alts in WoW. Plus, what about the people who get gear for a tree they never use? If I tank a heroic instance as a geared Protection Warrior and some crappy PvP Arms Warrior comes in and lots on my epic shield, I'm gonna be just as pissed than if a Black Mage who never uses his 70 Warrior lots against me for a Ridill(let's assume I'm a Warrior). Regardless, it's the people's responsibility to despence the loot. I'd be the first to tell a mafucka, "No you are not lotting that and I'm the goddamn tank, if you don't like it, I'll replace yo' ass in less than a minute with the other dime a dozen DDs ready to kiss my **** for a spot. Bitch." Then you slap said person. Or /slap, whichever works best.

The same can be said about FFXI and linkshells. Except that in FFXI you also make friends
while leveling since you can't be alone 24/7 like in WoW from 1-70(75). I don't get how this is supposed to be a pro.

WoW's just a popularity contest to find out how many people you can get on the official forums to hang off your e-wang, getting in good with your god-complex guild leaders to get drops, dealing with the constant gimp > buff > gimp PvP arena and PvE balance game that pretty much destroys the game experience(Warrior rage normalization, Hunter's AGI stat, Warlocks in general, Shamans in general.).

For the most part, I agree with this. But anyway, the biggest problem I have with this post is the fact that the word, "opinion" is no where to be found.
