Anyway, I thought I'd share a random thought I had about Dragoons and their wyverns in ballista. Everyone knows a Dragoon's wyvern is the first thing to go down the moment its popped during a match. I mean, its an easy target - low defense, easy GB, slightly gimps the dragoon... Because of this, Dragoons have been forced to keep them tucked away, only pulling them out during random 1 v 1's or when about to Spirit Surge. So I thought of a possible solution so we can keep our winged companions around a little more in ballista, and a nice little addition in game as well.

What about a random Mijin Gakure effect the moment the wyvern reaches 0 HP? Based on the type of wyvern, one of two effects could happen. In the case of an offensive wyvern, the wyvern could randomly perform a wide range AOE breath based attack based on its maximum HP (I think 1/2 or 1/3 of its max HP is fair). In the case of a defensive wyvern, the wyvern could randomly perform a Benediction effect on the Dragoon only (maybe half the Dragoon's HP restored?). In the case of a multi-purpose wyvern, the wyvern would do either of the two randomly. Now it couldn't be 100%, which is why I say random (similar to the CORs 2 hour), but it would still have to be high enough to deter people in ballista and also be useful in the game, so I'm thinking around 50% activation rate is appropriate. Outside ballista, an easy way to fix the danger of the AOE damage from the offensive wyvern's attack would be to simply have all hate on any mobs damaged become lost. Basically, the DRG does not retain any hate from any of the 'outside' mobs damaged by the wyvern's AOE attack.

I think this would be a great way to deter people in ballista. I can assure you, I will not be attempting to kill a dragoon's wyvern if there's a 50% chance of a 400-600 damage AOE attack to my party and I. I'll just put up with it and try to kill the dragoon, the way it should be. And it's also a nice addition in game. Sort of like a last minute edge given by the wyvern the moment it dies.

I like this idea but players shouldn't really be rewarded for getting their pet killed.

I can not say it, but we all know its true, SE doesnt listen to the actualy 'pvp' community it has, and goes on its own ideas, pankration and brenner, and they obviously fail miserably. We've all heard the same suggestions over and over on how to try to jump start ballista back up, and they wont do any of it.

I know small list of stuff Ive been hoping and been vocal about are:
Ballista only equip through points
New diorama zones
and of course, the cross server matches

the equip from points and cross server is obviously rip offs from wow, but theres a reason wow is so popular. It IS a pvp based mmorpg, so they know what the people want, and they give it to them, why? because they want your money

I came to ff11 instead of wow, because of ballista, hence why its the only thing I even do in the game, for the most part. I enjoy it, its fun. I tested wow a first time, hated it because of my prehate to it, tried it again because of a rl friend, and ended up completely enjoying the game. I know, then why do you still play ff11? Because I do still enjoy ballista, fenrir's ballista was, how can I say, utter crap. Sure they got a huge uncap and 1 on 1 scene, but the actual ballista, yeah not much skill there. Moved to siren a couple days ago, and completely love it, mages who know what they're doing, people who know to defend a rook, and all that good stuff.

And now Im at the end of my rant for now, and you read it? why? because you know you feel the same way, our beloved ballista is near dead, or in most cases dead. Do you enjoy raiding? have fun with it if its all you got left and dont want to move servers

I don't think DRG needs any beafing up in ballista. It's 100% fine the way it is.

Ballista is dead because the game is gear focused. Notice how Ballista died when TOA came out, and suddenly there were ways to attain semi-decent to uber gear, that didn't require competing with bots. Everyone went and invested in a salvage/assault static, and today we have people that can't kill byakko walking around in Ares body and thick legs ^^.

The suggestion for Ballista gear is ok. But why make it ballista only gear?
Make it a reward from ballista, that you can use anywhere. Maybe you didn't mean you can only use it in ballista, but can only attain it from ballista. I'm not sure.

That's a step in the right direction. But I'm sure SE is thinking that since hardly anyone ballistas anymore, why should they invest any development time into it?

I would like gear that you can use everywhere as a reward from ballista, but at the same time you have to realize that how many people will complain, and considering how outnumbered our community is, we have to have it so they wont complain about it
