Hello Fellow Summoners:

I am very happy to report that I finally made it!
I am officially a summoner!!

Now.....here is the question:

1. At what level should I consider seeking other Avatars?

2. How do my Avatars ( currently just carbuncle ) get stronger?
Do they grow stronger as I lvl ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We'll im no summoner, but in 9 levels i will be. plus i know unlimited internet / real world resources, so here are the answers to your questions smile.gif

(1) Try somewhere around 60 - 65. the avatars will kick your ass! if you want an avatar, then try to level up whatever job you got to level 30 in the first place then when u get to the higher levels, seek out a party or maybe help from your LS to help you get an avatar. Of course you have to find their cloysters, but i cant help u there.

(2) Yes, as you level, you avatars increase in strengh. also they get abilitys at certain levels, i think. i know they get abilitys, but there mght be more to it than that, i dunno.

hope it helps

But on a lighter note....as soon as i'm UBER enough to get the other summons.....I may take my craps all over the world and shite out my own Avatar Inc. I also saw Fenrir in action today in the Crawler's Nest...i almost let my party take on a Helm beetle on their own caus ei was too busy trying ot get a good screen shot. I turned around and saw a beetle kicking our SAM's ass.

I am also new to the summoning game, but I know a few high level summoners and asked them some questions, for avatars it depends which one you are going for, Titan you can do with 5 level 50s and 1 level 30, Avatars get stronger when you level and thier Blood Pacts get stronger with your summoning level, The spirits (air, earth, lightning, fire ect..) dont get blood pacts, but they do cast random spells of thier element, so the Air Spirit will sometimes cast Aero in the middle of battle, these can be hard to use at low level because of the high MP cost, hope I helped ya.

McCrae... becoming a SMN is going to take a lot of hard work on your part. You first have to build up an impressive amount of fame in San d'Oria, Bastok, Windurst, and Norg/ Tenshodo. After you've done 150-200 repeatable quests for each of the three starting cities and maybe 50 for the Tenshodo, you'll be able to open the avatar quests, giving you the opportunity to defeat them. Then you can start looking for avatar hunting parties in Lower Jeuno... WHMs can start looking as early as lvl 50, but any other class will need to be 60+. I strongly suggest you get as many avatars as possible before lvling SMN, because the job isn't worth playing without them.
To answer your other questions, capping your summoning magic skill will make your avatars' abilities more powerful and accurate (so Carbuncle's Poison Nails wills do more damage and connect more often.) And yes, your avatars become more powerful and learn new abilities as your SMN levels up. Hope that helps~

Dont even touch your summoner job unless you have at least 75 % of the avatars or most people take you as a class act joke .....Of course thats your game and not mine :|
The real way to wield the job is collect all the avatars then start from lvl 1 and build them as you progress in lvls :wall . So your best bet is to take you primary original job to lvl 60ish then kill some avatars

unless you wanna be a carbuncle summoner :wall:scream

Wickett, you forgot you need Rabao fame for Garuda, one of the most useful avatars.

Rabao is connected to San d'Oria... if you build up to lvl 7 or 8 fame in Sando, then Shiva and Garuda will both become available to you.

Yes, but that is quite inefficient. Better off building up Selbina fame. This will net you MAX fame in Sandoria, Bastok, and Rabao - three for one.

If you defeat an avatar on your warrior, can you use him on your summoner? Or must you be a summoner when fighting the avatar?
