Wings of the Goddess Installation Problem

I guess it's not exactly an installation problem since it installed just fine, but it gives me an error box now.
This text appears after the 'word to our players' and before selecting a character to log in.

"Terminated as error occurred in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run FINAL FANTASY XI.(-1)"

Direct3D? The Specifications for Wings of the Goddess are DirectX 8.1 and not Direct3D. Why would it refer to Direct3D?

Now, I will say this. I did managed to get in through Windower, which opens FFXI on a separate window as oppose to a full screen as it normally does. The way I stay log in is, that instead of that message from FFXI, I get a PlayOnline Viewer error box instead. Except that with Windower, I'm able to simply move the box aside, and select character and continue as normal. Except, there's an error box in front of me all the time. Annoying.

I installed Windower before installing Wings and I'm actually not sure if this problem is because of Windower, or because of Wings. It just so happens, that the error box started right after the Wings installation and there were none before.

For those curious, I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a GeForce 6800XT Video card (slow, but works) with DirectX 9.0.

Any suggestions?
