Severe lack of DNC Ballista videos and advice here, so I decided to start using my DNC a bit more in ballista and seeing how well it can do with various subs and abilities. First I decided to try out DNC/BRD using mostly an evasion build setup, using Mambo for an extra eva kick, and Magic Finale for some form of Dispel (pretty much a saving grace when fighting buff spamming RDMs).

Video is DNC/BRD VS RDM/BLU with a slight handicap on the RDM (I started at 100 TP, and her MP was not at full), however she was fully buffed, and well, I am a Dancer and she is a Red Mage. So I guess it is your call to consider that handicapped very much.

Shock spikes and no para? I couldn't watch it for long before going, "No wonder she lost". Paralyze is one of the only ways to make a DNC helpless. That and provoke. If the rdm knew what she was doing and subbed /war she would have done better. I kinda dislike RDM videos since either the rdm wins or they do something unbelievably stupid.

Yes, lack of Ice Spikes was a relatively bad idea. However, I think the RDM's fatal flaw was probably underestimation and lack of general knowledge.

It's like when my PLD first took on a SAM/DNC w/ Soboro 1v1. I underestimated and went PLD/BLU for shits n giggles (despite having /RDM).
Guess what? I lost. Came back with a better understanding of his job, how it works, and what it's weaknesses are and won.

Since DNC is a relatively rare job, especially DNC mains, along with AF and it's new boosts, it's not too surprising the RDM lost.

Yes she was using Paralyze II but realized I kept removing her debuffs with Healing Waltz so I think she just gave up. lol

Oh, I missed that. Sorry, I didn't see the para II. I still stand by Ice spikes as the constant para spam on you would have been godly. I've never been forgiving about mages that screw up ever since I moved to fenrir for some reason. Yeah aeonknight basically said it "Know your enemy". Something about rdm duel video always irks, don't know why. I turned off the sound btw, but I didn't think it was fair if I bashed the music just because its a genre I don't like. Also the para spam would have drained your tp faster.

The thing about a dancer, is that it needs TP. If they have it, they can do....stuff...so, especially if said rdm was prebuffed it would have been as simple as Sleep > Nuke > Sleep > Nuke spam. Depending how rdm does on MP, but convert should put you well over what you need.

You get little TP, and you get dead, quick. But, this isn't a really entertaining way to 1vs1 is it? Oh well.

anyways, rdm needs some pvp practice but I just got a question to DNC.

I couldn'tell if it was used in the vid, but wouldn't aspir samba be a decent thing to do vs mage classes to mess with them?, or is it a waste of time?

/war would've definitely been a better sub for a fight like that. Ice SPikes like Shykin suggested and heck even trying to keep Slow/Bio II/Poison II on just for the Dnc to waste Tp removing it so they don't have it for anything else. I didn't see the red Mage cast refresh either... but ( '_')/ good video otherwise. That dancing queen sounded different from mine, was it Abba or someone else?

the rdm lost cause:
1. Don't melee a DNC
2. No para
3. Don't Dot DNC
4. No strategy

Before you flame me i want to explain why i say this. DNC are really really easy to beat on rdm, there isnt even a competition. you start by sleeping the DNC then you debuff him/her and kite nuke...done. The other thing is that since the RDM is using sub BLU she/he should use BLU debuff spells too. A DNC can only remove one debuff once she/he has awoken, thats why you have to put many buffs on them(everything except Dots). RDM/BLU can put on nine debuffs, the DNC can't remove them all with 100 tp.
That is easy win but if you want to melee it...then just wear good gear and its still no match for RDM. And im not talking about awesome gear, RDM can wear decent DD equipment. When you melee you must have ice-spikes because that its such a waste of TP for the DNC to use Healing Waltz for it.
Just a word of advice to all RDM.
I probably wont read this thread again so say what you want.
PS I dont have DNC lvled or even unlocked.

Come back when you've recorded another one of your little videos of facing a RDM who's more seasoned in pvp.

Nothing in this statement hasn't been said before in the 20 posts above. Besides, even if the RDM wasn't too great, that RDM could kill some of the more.... dull jobs (hi2uWAR+NIN)

It was an interesting taste of what DNC can do, and probably the only time that song will ever be suitable for a ballista video. That alone makes it worthwhile. Come back when you've got something constructive to say.
