Lastc :
the rdm lost cause:
1. Don't melee a DNC
2. No para
3. Don't Dot DNC
4. No strategy

Before you flame me i want to explain why i say this. DNC are really really easy to beat on rdm, there isnt even a competition. you start by sleeping the DNC then you debuff him/her and kite nuke...done. The other thing is that since the RDM is using sub BLU she/he should use BLU debuff spells too. A DNC can only remove one debuff once she/he has awoken, thats why you have to put many buffs on them(everything except Dots). RDM/BLU can put on nine debuffs, the DNC can't remove them all with 100 tp.
That is easy win but if you want to melee it...then just wear good gear and its still no match for RDM. And im not talking about awesome gear, RDM can wear decent DD equipment. When you melee you must have ice-spikes because that its such a waste of TP for the DNC to use Healing Waltz for it.
Just a word of advice to all RDM.
I probably wont read this thread again so say what you want.
PS I dont have DNC lvled or even unlocked.

What kind of pussy fighting is that <_<. Rdm Sub Pld/War/Drk melee down! Slow/Para/Blind/Bio/Poison Go~

Rdm's main problem was they weren't consistent with their debuffs and let the dancer build up enough TP to balance it.

See, this is why I hate watching videos with rdms. If they one its "Because they're a rdm" is they lose its because "they suck". Duel a thf or any other job. Even if you know you'll win. Rdms just don't make for good videos.

RDM (like BLU) is one of the jobs where because of it's diversity and ability to adapt, that it can be extremely difficult to bring down (as if this is news to anyone.)
It is because of that diversity that it is open for criticism like that. If they won it's because they had a clue (depending on enemy. I still say BLU rivals them for top 1v1 spot), if they lost it's because they either fail as a RDM, or the opponent is just that good.

It goes beyond that as well... RDM that are playing a certain strategy (see: melee RDM vs. DoTer vs Nuker vs. ????) are put at an advantage or disadvantage against certain opponents. A DoT RDM will work for his meal alot harder vs say.... a MNK in an HP build, than he would if he was fighting a NIN. RDM's strength is that they can change strategy on a whim, but when the player cannot, that's how they lose fights.

Common criticism: "Why didn't you do ?" It's not in the cards for some people.
Not everyone has gil to dump on a ballista armor set with physical dmg-% gear or rare/ex fast cast pieces to beat other mages, and other pieces that cater to any/all of the strategies listed above. Not everyone can dedicate merits to stats/spells that have use in ballista and nowhere else.
And if you as a RDM find yourself in that boat, then you just have to accept that there are weak points in your self-made brick wall that anyone with enough skill can/will exploit. And as a result, you'll just have to accept that there are some fights that you are going to lose.

Edit: @ Cookies
They may be very skilled in the whole solo'ing HNM department, but anyone will tell you that ballista is a completely different game. They don't have their macro's for optimal performance on each/every spell, they have 1 set. On top of that, what they do is kill mobs that follow a predictable AI and as long as they don't fuck up... it's a win.

Ballista Players do NOT follow the same "attack every 2.5 seconds" mentallity as a HNM. Sure our stats are not as high, but our intelligence/unpredictability is 100 fold (I hope...) It is because of those factors that I personally believe Seraa/Avesta or any other renowned soloist would not do so well in ballista as they do in other parts of the game... Anyone that's seen the way an "endgame player" plays his first time in a ballista OM can attest to that.
