Hey all,
For many jobs I've killed goblin pets with a PL making goblin pets soloable with just bout any job. I partied with my DNC up to 50 and its been about 2 days of just looking for a party lately. With no luck of getting an exp party, I'm forced to ask if anyone thinks that if one wanted to kill goblin pets and could use all our available job abilities for just damage dealing, could DNC do it? I tried it near lv 20 and it failed pretty badly-- unable to get chain 2. Now I am wondering if with haste samba, building flourish, reverse flourish, if anyone imagines this possible? If anyone has any ideas or advice on how to up the damage on DNC I would love to hear what your thinking, Thanks in advance!

Lower your expectations about chaining. Especially since you won't have any real weaponskills (unless you use a Sword, then there's always bloody Fast Blade), it's not going to compare to DD-oriented jobs, but you're basically unkillable as a Dancer with no real downtime.

Yeh main thing would more than likely to duo with someone who has a higher overall damage potential at mid levels. When you get dancing edge and such you will prbably do a bit better but your survivability is what is key. So more than likely with a duo or trio set your downtime to exp/kill would be ok.

I think at 50 you can still go and solo crawlers in the nest. I think i was in there soloing away wile i was seeking for exp.

You can duo with a geared NIN (Eva + DD set, doesn't have to be completely "geared"), WAR/NIN would work also.

If that was some kinda sarcasim NeZero then go kill yourself many times.
If not, I would have to say BLU. Aspir Samba + BLUs DOT + holding off capability would be a nice pair.
Also PUP,SMN,DRG,WAR,NIN,BST are good choices. Any job that has some survivability and longevity on its own will greatly benefit from DNC's skills.

People are stupid, I opted to solo for a good while (Campaign doesn't cut it at low levels).
Here's my experience:
Pre-50:
Use ffxi-atlas's beastiary to find mobs for you.
Worms are nice and squishy. EMs can barely take a big dent out of you, and as long as you have TP, you can chain through Ts as well. However, you're only as good as your skill, timing, and gear (unfortunately), so soloing won't be for everyone.
If you can't find a worm camp (like when you hit the West Altepa level worms), go for bats and birds. They're weak to piercing, so DoT will slowly work out in the end.
/NIN for dual accuracy daggers. Also, when you have access to Violent Flourish, you can do VF -> Utsu to hold off some of the damage. It'll work well vs. EMs especially.
Of course, there are a couple pet mobs at lower levels, but they were always over-camped for me, so I sought out alternatives.
Post-50:
Mobs are having more HP and hitting harder, so chaining Ts solo becomes nearly impossible after a while (most I got was Chain #2). So find pet mobs and hope you don't have to compete with other BLMs and BLUs!
The BLM guide is pretty good for reference. I followed it was decent. I got to chain #3s at most, but with an Emp. Band, you'll get closer tnl than you would in Campaign. Same tactics as before, keep up shadows and TP as much as possible.
Overall Tips:
1) Don't WS unless you can survive the damage before you can waltz up.
2) Accuracy and Evasion are your best friends.
3) Bream Sushi worked best for me, but use whatever suits you. If you're going to just clear our DC-EM worms, use meat.
4) /NIN saved my ass countless times. Can't rely on it entirely, but shadows helped me save TP and kept chains going.
5) If you can find a friend to duo with, try to get them to /NIN as well, or have a high defense. Damage mitigation is key to chaining imo. Less time spent on healing.
