I'm returning to game after a couple years, for TP issues is HNM's for most part still all about couple pallys a thief and whm, rdm, blms. Cuz if this is still true i was plannin on taru blm, rdm. But if melees are viable due to some change to HNM tp gain then i have more options.

Different for different NMs.

BLM is still welcome, but so are SAM, DRK, DRG (only one usually), RNG, MNK, WAR.

If you already have an LS, RDM is fine. But if you're trying to join one, I feel there's too much competition and RDM is getting tough to gear up competitively.

MNK and DRK have abilities that inhibit TP gain, and so does BLU for that matter. It is still a bad idea to flood a NM with lots of melee unless you're zerging it.

You can hibernate all your content IDs up to a year, after which they erase your character data. The only way to keep that data is to reactivate your IDs one month out of each year, or more often.

that is not true I had to call se last month for something and they still had a mule's info from 5 years ago and reset the pw for me, not that i wanted it but.... I guess it could be random

I thought they basically put all characters onto a "you can delete any of this" server after a year, so you may or may not still have your character info.

Some of the HNM's have some auto TP gain after a certain percentage as you know. Only real bad ones are hogg and Cerb when they spam those AoE. If I could start all over i'd have leveled Whm just because there's never enough of them anymore.

Blm and rdm are still very useful in end game. They really always will be, but blm has been marked down a lot on the newest HNMs. Blm damage is abysmal on Cerberus and Dark Ixion and it's pretty trashy on Khimaira unless you have a buttload of elemental skill gear. Honestly, if you are interested in doing the most damage while feeding the least tp, for HNM, your best bet will be smn. A successful blood pact rage is 0 tp. While you aren't gonna top the 1000+ that happens commonly on fafnir while fighting the newest HNMs, it's still pretty common for spinning dive to do 400-800 ish on them. Not to mention Diabolos is very good for LSes who still use the kiting method on Kirin.

Best answer is............................Have Alot of jobs avalible for every situation.

RNG is really good, BLM/RDM/WHM, support BRD/COR

I guess it really depends what kind of shell you want to get into right.

Sadly, but is the truth. I know many people that loves to play 1 ONLY job but having many jobs is really useful. Thats why i lvled PLD as last of my jobs, fun one and really useful on shell when we have few ppl and a HNM holder is needed.
Best jobs (and indeed more useful ones) on my opinion are SAM, BLM, RDM, PLD. But is player's choice

DRG is needed if you Zerg, and so is MNK. But only if you zerg.

Also depends on what your shell does. If they're hardcore in to HNM, then definately level a few jobs. Grounds only? (KB, Faf, Aspid) Blm is excellent. Sam is definately good but really if your shell has a few dedicated melee for battles, why level it when you don't come to the grounds as a melee and rarely ever do Khim/Cerb? (Not to say don't level it of course but that's just my opinion).

I leveled Pld very very very early in my carrear and when I started getting in to endgame, I found myself leveling Rdm/Blm/Sam. Granted I ended up half-quitting for a bit here but I ended up becoming an exclusive Pld for one premier LS on leviathan and continue to be a prominant PLD in my current shell. Sometimes it tough when you find a job where you do nothing but that once it becomes pimped (coughaegispldscough) but sometimes you end up as a different job when you show up late or something. Just follow your nose and you'll make it.

Back in the day you could solve most problems by throwing a bunch of rngs at it.

Ixion, JoTemp, JoF, KB. RNGs on Cerb are acceptable in a pinch, Khim just becomes a mess, wyrms are lol. RNG is fine for a lot of endgame stuff, but the question was about HNMs. In which case, they're hardly desirable.

I leveled blm and went to things blm.

Then I leveled smn and went to things blm.

Then I leveled whm and went to things whm.

Then I leveled mnk and went to things whm.

Then I leveled cor and went to things whm.

Moral of story: there are not enough whms.

I've been wondering myself what I might lvl next for endgame thats needed, a DD job is appealing because I like staying front line but is WHM really that much in demand?
