First things first... understanding some things about the fight...
- Upon entry you have 15 minutes to win.
- You want to bring at least two DD + Healer for a safe win (ninja sub is great for this).
- If you have a whitemage, red mage, or black mage then make sure they have earth staff equiped and stoneskin up at all times when you run around looking for the NM. When you step on a certain spot after the first time the NM burrows it can either be the NM or one of its helpers PIT AMBUSHING you. Pit ambush does 0 dmg to me when Stoneskin + Earthstaff is on. If the melee also have no tp at the moment it is good to have earth staff on too then swap it out after ambushed followed by an utsusemi: Ni if they have it (takes a few sec before the nm normally hits ya) *NOTE: Shadows do NOT ABSORB pit ambush. pit ambush eats them and hits you*
- Repose & Sleep are both perfect for this fight. Be sure that your casters know to equip the proper staff for the element of repose and sleep to ensure a non resisted sleep.
- Every 25% health dealt to the NM makes him Burrow. This burrow can bind you if you are close enough to him. If you don't have erase then let the person remain bound and have the other people search for the NM and drag it to him.
- The NM is immune to stun, gravity, bind and sleep but the helpers are not. They all move at a normal pace too.
Now for a step by step idea on how to go about doing this...
When you enter you want to buff up with protects and stoneskins. Equip your earth staves and have the person with stoneskin run out first. When you begin to enter the open area the NM pops out and does a pit ambush. Whoever gets hit by it will take 0 damage with stoneskin and earth staff on, or very little damage.
At this point you want to just beat him down and at 75% he will burrow beneath the soil. At this point you want to rebuff your stoneskins and have people spread out to look for the NM but be careful, if someone gets ambushed you want to have that person bring it back to you in the same track that you took to find it because you might get another enemy and that can cause problems. If it is the helper just sleep it and be on your way to finding the next one.
If the NM pops you want to damage him down the next 25% and repeat the previous paragraph.
Alternate ways to win:
- If you have a heavy DD group with alot of people, you can burn down the helpers relatively fast. This makes it a LOT safer and time shouldn't be an issue.
- There is a pretty big rock in the middle of the ENM fight. You can use this rock to your advantage and just run around it to kite the mobs if you can't shake them off of ya!
- Black mages are awsome for this fight. They can sleep the enemies and do a nice 10%+ of the NM's health in one tier 4 / AM 2. This is beneficial in that you only need to do 15% of its health when it comes up and then unload a big nuke for 10% and hate resets after burrow.
