So i was reading the sticky "Goldsmithing guide" and i think it said it might take about 800 mil but that was in the past. Anyone havbe any idea what it cost now-days with today's economy?

Gold Dust is an extremely cheap way of getting skill-ups from 42 to 47.

So far I've done it from 41.7 to 46.6 Goldsmithing. This is the only cheap synth at this level range too, so hop on it while you still can.

This is the most redundant, unanswerable question about goldsmithing, and honestly i am sick of people asking this maybe someone should just sticky this response:

It varies for everyone, and some people it takes years to get to 100 so its impossible to answer. The amount of fucking synths you have to do to get 100 is so absurd that you just cannot calculate an even average price given the sheer number of variables, costs to makes vs resales, amount of broken synths on average because all these numbers vary on server, and everyone's amount of broken synths varies.

The only thing i or anyone else who has done it CAN tell you about goldsmithing is don't expect to be able to do it unless you:

A: Have alot of time to devote to it

or

B: Have alot of gil to devote to it.

Not to be entirely cynical but if you can't figure out a way to get through silver good luck with the real hard shit, O. rings etc. Everything you need is available, there is tons of stickies, every ffxi website has crafting info, and there is -> FFXIAH <- now which is a fucking amazing tool for finding profit, there wasn't when i was skilling up, you've got it made, it's all laid out for you if it's what you choose to do.

Thank you all for you advice, and thx Stubbie for your insight. I apologize for my ignorance. I am aware of what test's await me and i am ready for it. And i did have the same opinion you did about it not being able to be answered how much it cost from 0-100, but perhaps there was some way to calculate it. (ex- how the first sticky got the answer of 800 mil) I am in fact already past silver, did not take too long.^^ I will do my research, but with all honesty i am starting to get on KI alot at work and would like to post a few things.

Thx again for the information. I will post again when i get to 100 gold tongue.gif wish me luck.

They probably spit out some random imaginary number because 800mil is a massive overshoot in any economy, in all honesty if you had 50-100mil gil on hand i bet you could easily push to 100 in no time but the slower you take it the less it costs, flooding AH leads to loss in profits.

I did 0-100 and never had more than 30mil at any given time, i did it in a total of 3 years 1 of them being an off year, i quit the craft around 70 due to the inability to make profit at that level and the high cost of skillup... but then when inflation hit i sold my weskit for 15mil and some other shit for high dollar^^ lol this got me back into the craft, was able to get to 85+ and actually profit on the craft, so tons of gil is not necessity, mid 90's you will definitely want to have a fuckton of gil though, the orichalcum ring push is brutal, but by mid 90's you have plenty of synths you can do for profit.
