Well I figured that I might as well share my knowledge about semi cheap goldsmithing so... here goes!
Invest 400-500k before even attempting this!!!! Or, do what I did and take your times with it like.. get 5 levels one day and go farm a lil after then level it a little more. rinse wash repeat.



*TIPS*
-Don't toss anything away that can't be desynthesized. You'll that alot of things that we can be desynth'd can be sold for good money.
- USE GUILD SUPPORT WHEN DESYNTHING!! I imploded many a silver pins because I didn't.
-Depending on prices, always look at the other three Auction Houses. When I was doing Silver coins they were 6k a stack and 4k in San d'oria
-If you having a bad crafting day stop and take a break and continue again later.
-Have an airship pass cause we are doing a little travelling, also doesnt hurt to have WHM lvled for teleporting.
-Certainly it doesn't hurt to have done the gobbie bag quests.

Crystal directions.
North = Darkness
North east = Light
East = Ice
South east = Wind
South = Earth
South west = Lightning
West = Water
North west = Fire

Buy from Airship merchants or from guilds (faster from merchants)
Keep these for next synth

4-7: Copper Hairpins

Use from last synth or buy copper ingots
Desynth and sell ingots for 5k a stack! Sells fast.

It gets a little pricy from here on but dont worry.

7-9: Brass ingots
Fire
x1 Zinc ore x3 Copper ore
mine or buy from Bastok and Jeuno related Auction Houses
Keep these for the next synth

9-11: Brass Sheets (Yes that's right)
Fire

Use those brass ingots
keep for next synth

11-13: Brass scales

NPC or sell on AH

13-15: Brass Hairpins

Dysynth to get the ingot back.

11/13-18: Silver Ingots

Buy from AH, look around at the other AH's to compare prices
These bad boys can sell really nice
This is good money, if you buy x4 stacks of silver coins for 4k a stack you gain a 6k profit!!

18-20 Silver ingots

x4 Silver ore
On certain days look at the goldsmithing guild in Bastok, they sell it for 300-350 each ore
I suggest from this point on keep all your silver ingots.

20-24 Brass hammer
Fire
x1 Brass ingot x1 bronze hammer
Hammers can be sold from the galka at the bastok markets weapon shop
NPC the brass hammers

24-27 Silver hairpin
Fire
x1 Silver ingot
Highly recommend desynthing these. These dont sell all to great on AH, and you can reuse the silver ingots you get back or sell.

27-31 Hiraishin
Fire

You can save yourself money by making the ingots.
Sell Hiraishin on AH

Here's a few tips from my own experience:

Hiraishin took me from 23-30 with profit. (Just be sure to keep all the silver ingots you make in the previous stages, if you buy the ores from the goldsmithing guild the resulting ingots will be a LOT cheaper than from the Auction House.)

Starting at level 49, the optimum choice is really dependent on the server. If you have a high enough job, lightning crystals, and a bit of luck, you can farm Gold Orcmasks in Davoi, then desynth them into free Gold Ingots, starting at around level 48-49. If you have THF and can rack up a fair number of these, it will make your life so much easier. Otherwise, definitely research your server prices on the AH (assuming that, like me, you don't have the patience to mine) and struggle your way through to the Platinum Ingot stage, where (finally) immense profit is within reach.

Well, "immense" considering the economy.

Final Note: This might just be a superstitious bet but I have noticed that elemental resistance in stats can affect crafting outcomes noticeably. Do with this as you feel fit.
