I'm planing to get back into FFXI next month, just wondering how the server is these days. As in, if there is still a decent amount of players leveling (low level zones)?

eh theres still some but dont be suprised invites have died down quite a bit for alot of jobs right now the fastest jobs to level are tank PLD or NIN Mages and bards. Thats about it. Right now im currently trying to get my rdm from 66-75 I have a static but Assault sometimes interfeers. Out of DD jobs Personally MNK and SAM are still about the fastest to get invites but yet I have seen drg and drks getting fast invites as well.

Hey Markus, I don't know if you scrolled over my info but it's Doridorimonkey hehe. How's it been going? Hooked on WoW?
I play it on/off but you can only run the same BGs and Instances before it gets repetitive, at least for me.

FF is pretty repetitive too :x Anyways yea, jobs to get fast invites are Tanking jobs. Mages not so much, because there's a lot of SCHs and WHMs out there now for some reason :dozingoff Not quite sure if there are ample people to make many pts but there's a decent amount I guess for the jobs that I looked for recently(PLD 20'ish/ War 10+) :x FF needs to make a way to LFG on several jobs =-=a

Meh lower lvls arent that great anymore, I just started lvling SAM im at around 30 now, my PLD always gets fast invites, level 62 and I have to wait at most 5 minutes usually for a party. Once in a while I just change jobs casually and get asked to party. Just all depends on what job your leveling I guess.

I might give SCH a try, but I haven't had time to pick up the expansion yet.
Does anyone know/ or are in a casual linkshell? I've never been into the end game stuff, so I'm just looking for a casual group that likes to level/ run missions once in a while.

I have a couple social LS's if you ever want one just hook me up in game.
1. Gunslinger's/ Echo- Gunslingers atm due to Echo's Linkshell lead had to leave the game for a bit and really couldnt pearl anyone who wanted to join. But never the less its primarly just a social LS. I can give you a pearl to this LS if you want. we help eachother out if its really needed.
2.VIIshinraCorpVII- Is a quest/mission/social ls appearntly they are finishing up Zilart Missions for people who need but give Kaaboom a tell in game that person will give you a pearl.
3.SCH is a really good main job as well as a really good subjob. If you have any questions hit up Islington with a /tell or Toxica. these are basically the only 2 that i know who actually have it leveld alot.
From what I can see SCH is a very situational job and rdm whm and blm are all viable subs. I guess you would want to know weither or not this job is a nuker or healer. all I can say is that its both. So I guess I'm not for 100% sure but I guess having MND Sets and INT sets couldn't hurt.
There really isn't much in the expansion yet but they are gonna be adding a ton of stuff in June and I'm guessing it will be long long update maybe a 10 hour one. No1 knows exactly what day its gonna be but its defenitly gonna be within the first 2 weeks of June because SE stated "Begining of June"
I would explain all of what they're putting in the update but its probably faster for you to go to playonline.com and just read up on it.

I don't think SCH is right for you Dori. From what I remember you never played any mage jobs, I could be wrong tho. IMO, Dancer is pretty cool. Looks hella gay, but is still a front-line healer type. Totally up to you, tho. As for a social/casual linkshell I'm sure my ppl would welcome you. It's a good LS. Hit me up if you're interested.

It's funny you mention Gunslinger Clink, man does that bring back some memories. They were the first LS I joined way back when it started.
Yeah, I've never really leveled a mage job. I had the Hume BRD before, but that was about it. I'll have to give SCH and Dancer both a try.

I am very hooked on WoW. I don't really BG or Instance that much anymore. Mostly run Kara for badges, ZA cause we haven't cleared it yet and 25 mans cause that's where the action is at. New expansion coming out sooner or later as well.
Good to hear from you Dori!

Why is Titan end game so bad? Seems pretty good to me lately.

Because HNM is primarily owned by either the botting scum of the server, or the JPs. Besides that, there is maybe one shell off the top of my head that is actually good in all aspects of endgame, whereas on other servers there are 2-3+. The JPs who do endgame are hardcore JP only and make up for more than half the HNM scene. Compared to other servers, Titan is pretty weak.

The JP on Titan only appear successful because they either team up to achieve "victory" or are up until all hours of the night on weekdays to claim things like Fafnir or Dark Ixion. They've traded pride and sleep for gear and gil in a sense, but to each their own I suppose.
For example, ChaosCompany (Pica's linkshell) recently claimed Sandworm with 14 members, 3 of which were dualboxed, at 5:30am JP time. It took them three minutes short of the full hour to exit the instance too. AquaFlare on the other hand has very little skill and primarily needs assistance to kill things, although they seem to have no trouble actually claiming with two or three that show up for camps sometimes. I suppose that's neither here nor there though as JP latency has always been better and they've had bots far longer than any NA player ever has.
Titan has a very small end game in general. In other words, I, as someone who attends a majority of end game events in NA prime time, would be able to recognize the names of each player and identify someone as a server transfer almost immediately. Many shells have filled in the gaps with these players lately too, something that is becoming increasingly more common. I like our end game scene because even though it's only four linkshells, two NA, and one and a half JP shells, you still feel a good rush when running for Tiamat.
So I don't think our end game is "weak" per se, I just think it's smaller than most and still offers what an end scene offers in general, including the "everyone bots" mentality and the occasional childish MPK because someone didn't claim. Such is Final Fantasy XI though.

sorry to break your bubble but me after beign on 3 different servers endgame on titan is weak as in no ls's i barely see 3 as you say, and the drama just sucks not even worth the read, i mean even the forum is damn dead, havent been on HNM camps since they still run from my prime play time......and well it just blows people hate each other just because you are in x shell, but i think its just normal rivalry.
i am having high expectation of the server, that at least will amuse me even a little.

Isn't smaller end game better anyway? Who cares if we only have three linkshells competing regularly anyway? How does that make the end game "weak"? Fafnir still gets claimed on pop, Tiamat gets rushed and claimed within five minutes of spawning, and there is still the mad dash for Dark Ixion.
And I've never really understood why the rivalry must exist. As the shell holder for Karasu I'd like to have all that shit gone if I could. It doesn't make any sense to me why we label each other as enemies. We are all people. I think it's just a product of the small group of jerks in both linkshells that maintain those feelings and it influencing others poorly. If it were up to me, there would be no hatred at all but as is obvious, leaders cannot control the wills and whims of the masses, only provide guidance for them. I dislike the animosity a great deal and am not the type of person who enjoys hate. Call me sappy, but that's how I feel about it.

Apart from some of the smaller servers, the hnm scene is similar in all others. Rivalry is still there, so is MPK and "boting". Many of the smaller shells feel frustrated because for different reasons, they usually end up with nothing. The End game is primarily controlled by the 3 ls of PP/legacy, Chaos Company and Karasu. A few JP shells do pop up once in a while. Out of the 3 mentioned, 2 of them are soul less. They have left behind any human traits that they had before joining their respective ls. The 3rd one is much better, relatively, but even a few situations have rise either voluntarily or not that has left a few bitter memories with others.
I left the HNM scene some time ago, and honestly, it has been the greatest move for me.

Don't be so easily fooled. There's always scum everywhere.
