Im sick of LFP for hours and hours at a time, and have decided to try and get from 68 to 75 on my THF entirely through campaign. Has anyone attempted something like this, and if so......any advice? Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Also, about how many hours/level are we talking here?

You'd definitely have an advantage as a melee job. Can't give you a definite answer or hour/day number, but I can tell you firsthand that it would be impossible to do it in reasonable time as a WHM and only possible as a BLM if you had weeks to dedicate to it.

Yes, it can be done. I suggest being a tad bit insane before trying it though, as it can be mind numbingly boring, and you will die a lot. I was able to participate as low as 60 on certain jobs, but didn't really start doing much until the upper 60's. But if you're desperate you can beat on the fortifications in certain zones as low as the upper 30's.

I'm a busy man who can't play more than once a week, so seeking a pt for hours {Tahnks for the offer but I'll have to pass}

Campaign is a benediction for me, and thanks to it I've been able to 64=>70 my drk with a regular basis of 10k-ish xp by session.

Pros => Funny as hell if you like massive beat'em all (I'm a Dynasty Warriors fan)
Cons => You won't skillup

No skill ups not so bad through those levels as you can possibly catch the occasional besieged for skill up provided your home point is set somewhere reasonable.

On average I get about 5k per 1-2 hours depending on how often the campaign battles are.

It's not too shabby at all and WAY better than soloing ep/dc/em for 25-75 xp each.

Problem with Besieged is that you usually need a good amount of staring skill and accuracy to even hit. So if you've fallen too far behind, Besieged won't be of much use. This isn't a problem with magic skills, as there are ways around it. 1 handed weapons really seem to be hard to skill there without a good head start, 2 handed weapons are a bit easier to get started with.

That sounds about on par. It's theoretically possible to get close to 5k an hour, but that's nearly impossible unless you've managed to find one really long kick ass fight. When you take into account travel time, recovery time, dud battles, missed xp because you were dead for 10 mins, etc. 2-3k per hour is about reasonable.

I have a friend who did this on his RDM. He went from 40 something to 75 in a few weeks. His magic skills were all capped from BLM except for the last couple levels, and melee skills capped from other jobs.

yes it can be done.

I started doing it on WHM @ 69 and took me like 3 weeks to get to 75 and a good buffer. Took me that long because between LS events and the playtime i have i couldn't be there like everytime, but when i did it i would usually go on for 2:30-3:00 hours per session which always gave me 14-18K exp. Also WHM is a killer job in there contrary to what was stated.

yeah... going from any level to any level in a few weeks of campaign is a lot of time spent there... i only get about 600-1200 exp per battle on my nin :/

Yeah, I don't understand these people who are somehow getting more than 2k XP from Campaign. If I'm lucky, I can pull down around 1300, but it's usually more like 700 XP because either the zone is swamped, so mobs die incredibly fast (except the inevitable two or three antisocial fuckers that pull a mob to the opposite end of the continent and spend 40 minutes trying to kill it), or the zone is completely empty and I get owned by 20 angry Fomors and their Black Mage leader. -.-

Still, doing Campaign with your party flag up and a comment along the lines of "HP: Whitegate Instant Warp: O" is a good idea.

As a PLD I get plenty of EXP in campaign, I think that this would be a very easy thing to do. Besides if you are getting bored of campaign, just lfp while you are doing campaign.

Something that would also help is to make your own parties. No seeking for hours on end, no slow exp, just look for people and when you have enough to make a decent party, take the initiative and start sending tells.

i took my thf from 70-75 in 3 days when it first started. campain battle was about every 20 mins max after one ended. i was on mainly during jp time which ment 20-40 peeps at a time. 1.2-1.9k a battle. but now it takes forever. i do good to get my rng a lvl a week from doing it. i did take a battle or 2 without tags to get skillz for dagger. best place to get points now i found out is in beastman controled area's seem to get a little bit more xp just for wacking the fort if skillz is not up to date

That list is wrong. I've gone in many times, cast a few spells, used a few JAs, and then got told to get the hell out with not a point to show for myself.

You might try getting campaign evaluations in between enemy waves too since there does seem to be some sort of cap on point categories, even if the BGwiki isn't 100% accurate. During one insanely long fight, I evaluated 4 times and got between 900-1200xp each time. This was on 68ish? blu/whm ...I pro/shell all the npc, bar spam myself, toss a cheap enfeeble like paralyze 2-3 times a mob, assuming no one else has landed it and then just focus on DD. I should do concrete testing on the point value of enfeebles.. I have been goin off the wiki statement that they count even if resisted. Enfeebling is capped from rdm so i am landing some of them but it may not justify even 6 mp with a that low a success ratio. All depend on what jobs you have/want to sub for survivability I suppose.

It's wrong? It seemed fairly consistent with what I get. At any rate, let's not let this turn into an argument over the validity of a document. If it's not solid fact, then at least it's a guideline of a point range you might expect from doing the events listed in Campaign.

If your tags last less than a minute, you will get 0 points regardless of any actions you've performed. If you're there for 1 minute, 59 seconds, you'll only get credit for 1 minute of worth. And even if you've performed 500 xp worth of curing, 500 xp worth of damage to the enemy, and 500 xp worth of damage taken, it won't matter if the cap for time only allows for 250 xp.

I went 60-75 with Dnc using campain. Before and after the nerf to the time between campain battles. If you wanna get the most xp outta campain just island hop(Change areas) after each battle is done and move from battle to battle. Also it depends on what area's you choose that give you the most xp. Merip. Mtns, Jugner and La Vue(Davoi) have given the most xp due to the difficulty of the mobs and whos attacking. Rolanberry is a good area to camp but if you find Pashhow is under Beastmen control you can garuntee that there will be battles very often since that is a highly fought area.

My advice is find an couple areas you feel comfortable with as you increase in lvl and stick with those. Mine were Pashhow, Merip. Mtns and LaVue(Davoi). Just stick with it and you'll be 75 in no time.
