Yeah, I don't understand these people who are somehow getting more than 2k XP from Campaign. If I'm lucky, I can pull down around 1300, but it's usually more like 700 XP because either the zone is swamped, so mobs die incredibly fast (except the inevitable two or three antisocial fuckers that pull a mob to the opposite end of the continent and spend 40 minutes trying to kill it), or the zone is completely empty and I get owned by 20 angry Fomors and their Black Mage leader. -.-

Which job you are can have a huge impact on that. smn before their AoE in campaign update? Lucky to get 700. After? Capping almost every time. Ninja, I cap often. BLM, not so much.

How much I get all depends on if I can solo a monster without 50 people gang raping it, I can get 700~ on thf/dnc when not soloing much more if I get time alone.

Levelling in campaign just got a bit harder. Logged in tonight and tried out my 50-ish SAM which had been working well up until today, and was barely able to do anything. Couldn't hit, and when I did it was for 0. Suddenly it felt like Besieged, but without the skillups. At least there were npcs to raise and buff me. lol

I actually did this quite a bit on ninja starting around lvl 55. Pre-lvl 60 it's not really worth it because you won't ever get more than 700-800 xp. After 60 if campaign hasn't been made harder like said in an earlier post then it can be worthwhile. I did party for maybe 4 or 5 lvls in the 60s but the rest was mostly campaign. The reason being that when I play a job I usually go all out in this case I had toolbags of all the enfeebles and like 4 different elemental spells. I just got sick of farming mats to craft them all on a regular basis so I started doing campaign for the xp and it wasn't bad. It was certainly much more relaxing as constantly tanking non-stop mobs and having to concentrate on shadows can be difficult for prolonged periods of time. In campaign you can get decent xp and can be less mind numbing depending on your job. My ninja is 70 now mostly from soloing at lower levels (37-54 I think were all solo). I was a pretty good tank in the time I did xp (rarely losing hate or getting it back fairly easily when I did in the mid to high 60s) but the grind just killed me so 3 or 4 hours of constant xp was just too much.

Im sick of LFP for hours and hours at a time, and have decided to try and get from 68 to 75 on my THF entirely through campaign. Has anyone attempted something like this, and if so......any advice? Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Also, about how many hours/level are we talking here?

What...? Are you an idiot?
Why the hell don't you campaign while seeking a party?

If you only do campaign, you will probably get about 15~50% of the exp per hour you would get in a decent party. How much exp you get really depends on luck. You might get lucky and receive 3k exp in one battle, then spends 90% of the next battle dead or weakened.

The latest update has nerfed wall bashing, in case you're thinking of that route. The fortifications' DEF has been boosted a lot and resistance to nuking also, XP is now something like 50% of what it was due to this.

I'm curious to see if it was just a DEF boost, or if the level of the wall was raised. Has anyone tried to skill up on it recently to see if it's still level 50?

From 74 to 75 would be a minimum of 42 hours, assuming you get 1k each campaign and each campaign lasts an hour.

Regular party is so much easier.

You can do it that way, mobs are level 60-ish from what I've heard. However, you also lose xp if you die and it's easy to get ambushed in Campaign.

68-75 is very possible. i started lvling NIN from 55-58 in campaign, got a few parties and got to 64, then lvl'd the rest of the way to 75 in campaign. in a long campaign, i get 2.5k(and higher) points very easily as NIN/DNC. it's nice to get all this easy xp, but make sure to go cap all your skills afterward.

It's extremely possible. I'm currently attempting to go 57-75 on PLD all in Campaign (currently 69). Before anyone freaks out about skills, everything is capped from other jobs.

My real life job prohibits me from devoting 3-4 continuous hours to partying, so I do campaign where going AFK is no big deal. As for a timeframe, I went 57-69 as pld/rdm in under 2 weeks. I did 70-75 on Blu in under a week all in Campaign.

I managed to lvup from 73-74 (40k exp) in about 8-10hrs in Campaign as a dnc/sam. I noticed i would get more exp when i receive dmg and heal myself then when i just straight up dd.

That's due to the various xp caps in place. In order to make best use of your time and maximize your reward, you need to do a combination of melee, enhancing, enfeebling, healing, taking damage, etc. This is why some jobs are easier to cap xp than others.

1K an hour??????? If I don't get atleast 5K an hour I am a sad panda only reasons would be I remain dead the entire battle or no battles are happening period.

Drk/dnc level 73

Combine souleater + last resort+ dread spikes + drain ii + drain samba II + curing waltz II and it takes awhile to kill me or get hate off me hehehe... I also rock heca gear why simple the drain returns on my ridill are insane for keeping me upright wink.gif....

Typical short campaigns are like below the avg is around 90 xp per minute:

I rocked dnc and drk up mostly in CB I do CB when ever I can pretty much and solo tanking = xp heaven its about damage and healing pretty much for big numbers. Grab some Bloody bolts or sub a whm/rdm/sch/dnc you get the idea.

I've done it, as a WHM too. But I did it over the course of a WHM playing VERY leisurely. I don't have too much time for parties.

I've noticed I get much more exp on a job where I can tank for a short period, and self sustain. Any job, mage or not, can get decent exp as long as they engage and melee. Even if you are missing 75% of the time due to poor skills, you will STILL get more exp then if you just stand there and cast. That is why most whm's go /NIN and melee dps, because they will not get even close to the same amount if they just sit there and cure spam (a lot of it has to do with the fact you will run out of mp and then need to /heal for which you get no exp).

How is pet damage calculated? It's damage is considered as your damage too? It's damage taken is considered as your damage taken as well?

I did 68-75+100 merits on BLU/THF in campaign.

I wouldn't recommend it, it took me 4 months.
Of course, I was doing other things and not playing every day.

Yeah, I seeked on THF while doing campaign starting at like, level 50. I was actually able to get PTs up until level 74- rarely, but I got them. There's really a shortage of people willing to join in on parties in those mid-levels, and people do invite THFs when they just want to get out onto the field instead of dicking around waiting for someone to log on (Though I dunno if level sync has hurt that).

And doing campaign, if you know what you're doing you'll get at LEAST 2k an hour. That's if you pay attention of course.
