there is a windower plug in that allows you to remove a buff. the plugin is called cancel. it works by typing in your macro "//cancel #" all you need to know is the buff ID. The Buff ID for sneak is 71.

Why should you care?

well, as i am sure you have noticed the effect for the dance happens instantly, the dancing is just for show. that being said, you can remove and recast sneak in less then a second.

the macro would be like this.
//cancel 71

/ja "Spectral Jig" <me>

I tested this in Garlaige Citadel on my 32 DNC. 2 Wingrats did not agro even though i cast and recast the Jig 10 times.

i took a video and plan to render and post for viewing. it is late so i will probably post it tomorrow.

-=EDIT=-
So, as i said i was sleepy. I meant Wingrats (as seen in video). and yes, now there is a video

not for anything tho. but are you really that fuckin stupid?

square enix doesnt let invisible recast do exactly what you want it to do. GO AHEAD and try it out on your 75 NIN, go in front of some manticore's invis'd up, and try reapplying, they aggro in that instance of less than a second.

OP's statement was humorous. I'm not sure if dAvVvE is serious though...

The first time I read this whole thread I interrupted my class laughing.

I'm too lazy to try to figure out who's being serious and who's being sarcastic in this thread. Here's how it works:

Invisible wears off with almost any action your character makes - INCLUDING recasting Invisible, Tonko, Spectral Jig, or any other ability that causes Invisible status. The new Invisible status replaces the old Invisible status seamlessly. As far as mobs are concerned, it's one long, continuous Invisible. You can stand in front of a sight-aggro mob and recast Invisible all day and it will never see you.

Sneak is more durable. You can do just about anything except attack a mob, and Sneak will stay up. If you try to cast Sneak (or Spectral Jig, or Monomi, or whatever) while you have Sneak on, it will have no effect. So, you need to cancel Sneak first. The time from when you remove Sneak to when you recast it is NOT seamless - there's a period of time when you are vulnerable to detection. If you're good (or have a Windower macro like the one the OP mentioned), you can keep that window small, which is a good thing. It reduces the chance that a sound-aggro mob might suddenly wander up close while you're still recasting. If you're already within range of a sound-aggro mob when you try this, you will get attacked - no human is fast enough to make this a seamless replacement - and even if one was, server lag will also play a role.

Well - actually, there's a chance. Working as I do with computers, I can see where it might be a bit computationally intense for mobs to continuously check their aggro range for targets. It's far more likely that mobs check their surroundings periodically - say, once every quarter second. It WOULD explain why I've occasionally avoided aggro (without a NIN sub) that I was sure was going to find me (though, again, it could be attributed to server lag). This is all just theory, though - and even if it were true, without knowing how often mobs check their aggro range, and without knowing when the last time they did so, recasting sneak within range of a sound aggro mob would still be playing Russian Roulette. Don't do it.

And yes, Siege Bats do not make a good test sample regardless. XD Go try your macro around some high-level Quadav, instead.

ive done it millions of time, w/o aggro, didnt even know it was possible.

but as was mentioned above, i guess the time between removed and re-applied might be .01 of s seconds, and mobs check their aggro range in a window thats anything like, 0.25, or 0.33 or 0.5 of a second.

ive done it with sneak alot as well.

tho i have only dared do it on RDM, and thats after i did tests on the timing.

also, most mobs who aggro sneak, dont aggro as far as sight seeing mobs, and undead dont aggro unless ur dancing on their toes.

well anyways, this is yet another reason i wish i played on PC lol.

(Not sure why it thinks it is mature content, i am only using this link till i get it up on photobucket so i can embed it.)

i dont wanna sound like a douche or anything.. but if your gonna go on the forums and give test results which involves any mob.. then research the mob first

i suggest wiki.

your just embaressing yourself lol

Well, to be fair, the Wiki DOES say that they aggro. (Wingrats, too.)

That, plus the video, does indicate that his macro seems to be working. I don't know if it COMPLETELY eliminates the gap between cancelling and reapplying Sneak, but this undoubtedly makes it smaller than any human hand could replicate. And small enough, it seems, to be pretty reliable when used around sound-aggro mobs. Windower users should definitely consider making a macro for this function.

Dude, for god's sake, would you freaking make sure something is aggressive before you make any more edits?

I mean, jesus, you're 0 for 3 now. Its driven past the point of amusement, settling down into the realm of being pathetic.
