*necro bump*
sorry been gone, I'm living in Japan now. So let me respond.
Of course the master is a better target than the puppet, but our puppets have provoke. that + shadows can make our abillity to survive quite strong, add out fairly good evasion (very good if you stack eva gear) and you have one difficult to hit master. All that time that you are whiffing, me and my puppet are not.
Dont get me wrong, mnk is the king of tearing shadows away, but with provoke up, it can be hard to do it quickly enough. on top of that, my puppet has a strong blaze spikes effect, ever swing you take on him will be 17-25ish dmg to you and you're also being forced to attack him with voke. With my Pantin Taj he gets 1 hp a tick with light maneuver he gets 4 hp back a tick, with repair he gets um... honestly idk, but its a fricking lot.
The reason why the pup is strong is because, even though you want to pwn the master fast, you can't, and if you try, you will waste precious time whiffing.
Thats not to say a mnk is a pushover by no means, I've lost to em a few times, but I usually win (prob 65-70% of the time)
lots of the attach's make great combos, and I've recently been trying some neat tricks that soften a target up and make them easier to kill.
For example against a rdm/nin I go pup/rdm, I gear serenade 1/2 of his blm attaches but on his whm frame, diaga/silence combo (ty dansieg for your brilliance) and then deactivate, swap frames and let my puppet nuke the rdm's remaining buffs off so far it has not failed me once, either I win, or the rdm sprints away.
as for mnk, I can throw in a quick paralyze and then swap to melee bot. i have yet to try this and it could be bad if the mnk chi's the puppet before I turn off, still maybe with shock absorber up, he wont take dmg /shrug
mnk has a hard time on pup as is, now imagine doing it with Slow, or para on. You are in for a loooooong fight.
Pup is not unbeatable, but it has the tools to handle almost any situation if you prepare properly

So does BLU
First, wb. Second, I'll admit now with relic and Stringing Pummel PUP could be a force to reckon with 1v1. But only if the PUP is well played and worth a damn. Kinda like...... every other job.... yea.
The problem with PUP vs MNK still remains that the MNK is a hell of a lot faster than you. Toss in /PLD (or /BLU) and a Blackbelt, Jelly ring, all that crap, and both you and your puppet are struggling to put a dent in the Berlin Wall. Not to mention the JA's like chakra (with invigorate), Penance on Chi blast, etc.
Only way for your puppet to get around something like that would be to nuke. But I doubt it can withstand the MNK's fury at that point, so it's a trade off.
Would definately like to see a well equipped/merited PUP vs the equivalent of a MNK.
Edit: Well technically PUP has had access to Usukane gear since Salvage started.... but how many PUP are walking around in 5/5 Usukane that DON'T have MNK leveled and wouldn't rather show up to a ballista as that instead?
