Perdu should be main for obvious reasons, but ive seen a few odd combos out there. Just curious to see what everyone thinks since theres a few new swords for us since last I read about this. So if you have swords for certain situations lay that out there too if you will. Mainly just concerned with dual wielding here, and offhand.

I think in terms of dual wielding and DoT I'd use Perdu Hanger & Fragrach(sp?)... realistically speaking. (Tizona would probably be better than either of the two weapons).

Yea thats the most rediculous thing ive ever heard coming from a 75blu. Most all of the blu spells are multi-hit. Perdu gives you 5acc and that will help spells and your over all dot. Perdu/beast slayer is one of the best combos right now. Shiva Shotel would be nice but who has one of those?

Exactly, it makes it hard for me to get merit pts because of BLU like this. In any type of merit pt, you're going to cast probably one spell per mob, maybe 3-4 if you're trying to save the chain because something happened and the pull was slow.

Perdu Sword/Senior Gold Musketeer's Scimitar is your best bet for swords. Perdu has incredible dps, with the highest damage you can get and with only 225 delay. Senior Gold Musketeer's Scimitar is a perfect offhand, having one of the highest dps's that BLU can use(only thing higher is the HQ of adaman kilij and its other forms) while also having really low delay of 219. Low delay and high DPS makes it a perfect offhand.

I use Perdu/Ifrits. Ifrit's may have low base damage, however it makes up for that with the Attack/STR Bonus.

LOL I have a shiva shotel and yes I know about the hidden effect from perdu. Right now using shiva/ifrit (dual avatar
blades). lOOK at most what u fight as a blue mage. yes DPS is nice but most of blu dmg is from spells not weapons.
O and chances r if u only have time for 1 blue spell + maybe headbutt u r only gonna swing 4-6 times (thats with ninja sub).

Unless you're BLU-burning off of Greater Colibris, and the party is specifically geared around keeping an infinite stream of MP, the majority of your damage should not be coming from spells. Again, this is why people don't invite Blue Mages to merit parties. You're not a mage that just so happens to have a handy weapon arsenal, you're a melee that just so happens to have a nifty spell arsenal. Perhaps if you and the rest of the Disseverment-spamming Blue Mage populace would learn this simple concept, people wouldn't think of you as a Black Mage when it comes to merit parties, and actually want you there.

I use Perdu/Ifrits right now for my /nin situations... looking for a Wing Sword +1 to offhand and for my cannonball set. 0/1 on the HQ synth lol trying another soon. Just got another jag to synth.

Shiva's Shotel is very very slow..not saying it's horrible.. but it's very very slow. And almost impossible to get. Shotel/Perdu would be kinda hot.

I want to end up with Perdu/Wing+1 for speedy build. With rajas fulltime, I think it's still lands me on 100% TP

Blu's dont constantly cast spells, so having some Dot to back it up isnt a bad idea. Just saying ifrits blad is kinda weak compared to Perdu. especially if you have perdu and a shiva's shotel. but hey do whatever floats your boat

Actually I'm not 1 of the spamming blus your refering to. I know how to manage my mp pool. Depends on your setup but with a rdm a cor and self 3 mp per tic refresh with mp drainkiss agaisnt colibri my mp pool is insane and i always have mp to semi spam. mind u spamming headbutt is more common. a good blu will usually use (melee, melee headbutt, melee melee, disseverment, headbutt, and obviously cast shadows in between (mainly after headbutt)). Don't forget to blu can be casting other stuff too like frightful roar. depends on what your fighting.

its not that we are dissing blu's or saying they are not good in merit parties...ill take a blu over most melee jobs for pretty much any circumstance. Just saying there are more horrible blu's than good ones. Same with drgs unfortunately. And a blu saying perdu hanger (aka blu's best main hand weapons atm) is not worth it just sounds kinda meh. Thats all im saying

If you have a COR in your merit pt, chances are he will be casting melee buffs to enhance the DPS of other melee. Not Evokers so you can keep spamming a tad longer.

If you want to go all out for spell dmg, BLU/THF will drop a colibri from 60% after a SAM's gekko. And that's it.

With how fast merit pt pulling goes, and the fact that we can't seem to push our dmg on blue magic higher without MOAR skill+... the only realistic way is to improve sword DoT. And you don't do that with Evoker's Roll while having to rest for MP every 3 minutes.

I use perdu/wing +1 right now, for solo i would use wing +1/seveneyes (i know that isn't a sword), and if i had the sword i would use fragarach/perdu for stuff where I'm mainly meleeing.

SGM is what you should choose, it has higher damage AND lower delay than Wing Sword. The tiny bit of STR on wing sword won't make any difference but the 4 damage different will. However, if you can get your hands on a Wing Sword+1, I'd say that *could* be worth it to swap because of its even lower delay and then STR boost to boot. However, a NQ wing sword is inferior to SGM because it has higher delay and lower damage, same reason why Ifrit's Sword is a bad offhand.

Low delay is basically the best thing for an offhand weapon, so having a weapon with higher delay in offhand is a pretty bad idea, especially if it has lower damage than your main hand. Ifrit's is an overall poor choice for these reasons, the STR and Attack bonus on it doesn't even make it have better damage per hit than SGM and then on top of it, it has higher delay.
