My LS vanquishers today went 1/51 on Hauteclaire since the last one dropped many moons ago. I'm posting cos I would be interested in other LS's experiences and thoughts.

Wiki lists a 3% drop rate, but they were dropping like candy for our LS to the point where I will quote one of our leaders as saying "this time in 6 months everyone in the LS will have hauty" - a massive jinx and a lot of synthesis materials since this one 2day!!!!

So your observations and drop rates please………….

To start things off:

Have us PLDs been shafted with hauty being introduced as a Rank 3 prize? (6300 winners or something)

Do SE manipulate drop rates? Could and should they increse the drop rate?

Wings up or broken? There has been some speculation and talk and I really don't know if this matters. Today it dropped with wings broken and the last to grace the server also got full drops off of a broken wings khim.

I really can't grumble with the gears I have accrued in the 3 years I have played and there are more deserving players who will get this sword on the server ahead of me. I'm just a bit disheartened considering the work that goes into camping and claiming khim only to see purple or level 1 paladins get a hauty through playing virtual bingo and winning a rank 3 prize in the bonanza. One of them being my real life best mate - he didn't mock me or i would have punched his lights out !!!!

Congratulations to Swat on your new sword. I just hope we don't have to kill another 51 before we get the next.

One of most paladins nightmare...
I got mine last week after a 3 month camping and not always claiming oviously(18 Khimairas in 3-4 month). We went 3/45 on our hautes since early January. From Jan to Sept dropped an amount of 7 Hauteclaires in Ragnarok server.
In this past weeks happened something kinda strange imho; khimaira dropped 2/3 (2nd mine) meanwhile in DA faf dropped 4/5 ridills(1 ours). Cerberus instead dropped an algol just few days ago with a long no drop chain. I dont want to say there is any relation but i felt kinda surprised when khimaira dropped a second haute in 1 week!
Talking about wings...Whole 3 hautes were dropped with wings up but we never had a full drop. As i saw most of the khimairas dropping i can just say its random,haute before mine was dropd with wings down(and it was a full drop). I noticed instead an higher difficulty on the dropping khimairas,like higher levels ones or just itchy asses carring hautes .Seriously,my haute was dropped after a rage like khimaira,it didnt stop to use tp moves as dreadstorm+thunderstrike+tourbillion(after 35%< fullmi) as soon as it got tp ,something like >25% mobs.
Something im sure about is,you must keep killing chain khimairas to get a real drop or you wont notice a real % drop rate. Im sure that khimaira has some kind of drop memory too,not just a drop rate % at all. Go and claim the more khimairas you can and youll get your shiny swords fast enough .

And yeah,im finally done with that damn place,3 months rusting my ass there...

I myself went 1/1. I was pretty excited. Maybe I'll unlock PLD ot lvl frk to 71.

I think it's a decent sword for some situations. Mostly when I'd go /WAR. And it's not too bad for solo play. I just wish they didn't take the Excalibur model and just tint it gold.

Think my old HNMLS (Empire on the Leviathan Server), before it broke of course went like 1/33 on Khims. The only one that dropped went to a full kaiser Pld who quit the LS shortly after. It's my understanding that it's a brutally effective sword but when you get in to the 0/50 range or better, I think it's time to accept that the chainsaw > all.

I appreciate your discussions so far.

Hauty is the sword of choice for the top PLDs on our server. Even as PLD/NIN you are gonna get hit on at some point. And whilst the enmity + on chainsaw is a bonus its FUGLY.

Has any linkshell had worse than 1/51?

Any comments on wings broken or up or are we in agreement that it don't matter?

I totally agree Broom, Haute is a top choice for PLDs.

Hades and namely Vanquishers luck has been utter fucking shit when it comes to drops. I actually thought it was 1/53 kills tbh.

While other LSs can go 1/7 and get drop to totally brand new members ><. No matter it's a shitty luck we've had.

One thing that concerns me is why there is so much rarity when it comes to Khim drops, yet every camper and his mule has an Algol.

Broom, I really hope you get it, and one day you will, and it will be very much deserved and worth it.

As an aspiring PLD myself I can very much see where the value is placed on it, and tbh it's something I'll be aiming for someday too.

As for wings, part of me wants to believe there is something that can be done to increase drops. But in my practical opinion I think it's pure luck, Torbillion or not;;

Cheers griev. Theres more deserving ppl in the ls though and I didn't start this post as a Broomy wants hauty thread. I just don't wanna go another 51, 52 or 53 khims b4 the next and wondered if there is any opinions from fellow PLDs

I also agree that chainsaw is not the be all and the end all. So would i get flamed from you lot if a main tanked in a Fragarach vs Chainsaw

Anyways, I didn't mean that the chainsaw was the end all but even still, there's not many better options. Haute is nice and I want one. But I don't have anything to replace the chainsaw atm (Unless Hrotti suddenly got better).

Also, 4 enmity in that slot allows you to Ethereal/Loq for some quick MP fun without slapping 3-4 mil on Hades +1
